Exactly! And for all skills I MIGHT skill in the future! And all of them morphs of course! o:)

To be fair, the OP should earn XP for the above AND any future skill lines that ZOS decides to initiate between now and when the servers shut down.

Please, I've been waiting for this for years. A bit ridiculous you need to switch bars at the end of a dungeon or something to level that bar up.

Whats even worse is when you want to level PvP skills while in PvE. Nothing like going in with a handicap because you slot skills you are not even going to use. Even if you wait until the last boss of a random daily or something, you would still handicap yourself on what is usually the toughest fight in the dungeon. Why not wait until the boss is at burn phase and just swap skills around real quick... oh wait, you cant, you're in combat. Game just looks for ways to make things tedious. I mean, if I want to change my skills around or take my clothes off and fight in my tighty whities mid-combat who is ZoS to say that I shouldn't be able to?

Not everything should be just given away. Kind of makes sense the way it is. You know, you actually use a spell or skill and you get better at it.

Except this is not how it works. Only the bar you are actively on gets the XP.

Used to be in TES games you actually had to -use- the skill to gain XP for it.

Now you just have to have it on your active bar.

And people ask for more still?
    -sighs-

Yes, it would be more convenient. But its not really any sort of big deal if you have half a thought and actually -play- on your back bar instead of entirely relying on switching it just as the XP drops.
And from the looks of it, they keep implementing "more convenient" stuff only if they can make it crown store purchases...
    :p;)

If only using the skill would level it up that would be fine by me. However, when you have a DoT back bar that you spend about 2-3 seconds on, and a front bar you are on for a good 5-7 seconds I am sure you can see where the issue lies with leveling your back bar skills...

Have to agree, it would be nice. I have several heavy armor toons that I sometimes use for tanking, but I normally find the S&B skills extremely dull and tedious. So to level them faster I have to run both bars that way for a loooong time. As much as I like this game, I've always felt the bar swap thing was a clunky idea from the start.

Most people make a quest turn in bar/gear for the big stuff. In circumstances like you're talking about, you might just need to rearrange your skills a bit to advance the ones you're after.

But is that the practice we really want in this game?

@DoctorESO , nope, but it's not changing any time soon. I'd call it more of a gift, actually. (Well, it's more of an oversight that became a 'feature.')

The fact that you can max every skill and skill line in the game is a bit absurd. Most games have skill trees with limited 'points' to spend, higher point values being required the more advanced into the tree you go. (And please, don't try to say you're limited by skillpoints, because it's hardly a limiting factor for most builds.)

I max every skill line on every character. Every. One. It makes them a respec away X patches from now when they (once again) decide to turn the game on its ear.

I don't get XP for PvP (involves battle, clearly). I don't get XP for crafting. (Doesn't it seem reasonable that as a Master Craftsman, knowing some of the intricacies of a weapon would allow one to be more proficient with that weapon?) Yet if I turn in a quest for delivering loaves of bread to orphans, I suddenly become more proficient with my bow, my stave, my FG, MG, Psijic, and and Alliance war skills, all while wielding S&B?

Which method seems more absurd, honestly?

Without trying, you can max all three armor lines, your class lines, and one, if not two primary weapon lines by the time you hit Level 50, simply by using the skills periodically.

The fact that you can accelerate it is just a bonus, and not a tricky one to figure out, by any means.

Skills and skill lines should advance from successful use, but since the game isn't set up that way, the above is a more than reasonable alternative option.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

    :p;)

I play a game to have fun and get away from real life. Why is it when after coming from a long day at work, to come and unwind I need to do more work?

You may want to look at single player games, these may be a better option for you, as nearly all have some kind of god cheat mode, for those that seek instant gratification.

    To rephrase OP:
I failed to barswap so ZOS should change the way the game works.

Seriously! Take responsibility for your mistakes.
