Invisible Walls - your thoughts?

I was wondering what people thought of the use of invisible walls in ESO.

By invisible walls I mean artificial restrictions on where you can go imposed by the developers of the game, to stop players from reaching unintended areas.

For example, the invisible walls that prevent players from climbing onto roofs and jumping onto things and so on.

Do you think these are good since they stop players from getting stuck / going to areas that they shouldn’t?
Or do you think they are bad because they break immersion and hinder creativity?

Let me know your thoughts

They annoy the bejeebus out of me.

They are immersion breaking for me.

Surely the designers could have just put an obvious big rock there instead.

Well boundaries are needed. They can't just have you wandering off the map after all.

On that note I did just that the other day doing some power jumping off a cliff. I survived the jump but ended up stuck and had to teleport out.

Why not? in all the other TES games everywhere that you could get to you could get to... never did find a limit in TES3 to how far out off of morrowind I could swim... tbf, I wouldn't mind fake water boundaries... but I too dislike the artificial boundaries and teleportation walls (like between bankorai and stormhold). I got to the top of a ridge in vvardenfell once, trying to go over, only to hit an invisible wall.. but the place I need to be, it's right there.

Also I too got stuck in the game the other day, I accidentally teleported behind some vegetation, doing /stuck 'caused the game to log me out, and when I'd reload, same spot. Fortunately it was in a dungeon and someone eventually kicked me.

They annoy me in housing. The little Alikr-style house in Bangkorai should have a lovely roof patio but there's an invisible wall telling me I shouldn't sunbathe on my roof and get skin cancer or something.

Personally, devs who use them should find another line of work.

I appreciate that they slide me safely off a rooftop if I get there by way of suicide leap, but at the same time, I hate most of the in-world restrictions. Let me swim wherever I want; why do I have to get murdered if my toe is in the wrong water in Cyrodiil (or anywhere else)? Let me climb wherever I want; if I get stuck, I get stuck and will port out to my house or something.

The only place I can see this being a life-saver is in Coldharbour, where you can infinity-fall into certain pits or rips in the landscape.

I hate invisible walls. I find them immersion breaking and frustrating. I love exploring all over the map and climbing on things to see if I can get a better view. I'd rather have environmental walling.

I sometimes feel like invisible walls is my arch enemy.

I don't understand why we can't just use them to keep someone in or out of an enclosed area - say from leaving a dungeon instance or from leaving a zone. I don't understand why they are placed everywhere else.
