There's This One Instrument. I'm sure of what it is, but really uncertain. (Summer Set)

So whom ever that plays (blows through?) that instrument. Must have really powerful Lungs. I heard bag pipes is hard to play. But now I think k this instrument, so very powerful;lively. The feel the tone and such. It's an amazing instrument it sounds. I'm sure probably takes longer time to learn (same bagpipes?) I could be wrong, I hardly listen music and such. Save for the one in Cyrodiil, it's all I do. But that one instrument.

It speaks to me, it melts me down like both the Violin and Lute. As in, candle Wax melt. But I want to say, least think it's a Trumpet? But I'm not really positively sure. It's very loud sure, but deep and strong in tone. I know I can't really practice much with instruments. Where I live, I could. But I'm more worried about my neighbors calling the Police and such. Hence my Poor Violin is just sitting there :( so can't practice much, least not at all without worrying. Hence probably same for the Lute as well as this instrument in Summer Set. Whatever that instrument is. I want one to, yet I can't because well, given my living situation arrangements.

But same time my love for these instruments will ever grow and the energy in sense. Playing these instruments is awesome. For those whom are able to. But if it's a trumpet in Summer Set. Why does it sound so much different, than my old former High School band? That's where it got me confused. I unable make sound, least write. But think it's sound of the Battle scene. (PvP) Maybe I think it's beginning of character login to..."hummm hmmm hummm hmmm. (I'm so bad) thanks in advance

If its a deep reverberating sound it might be the entire brass section, trombones and tubas trumpets and even french horns, probably not just a single instrument..

but then again i cant hear so good....being partly deaf i dont really have the sound on often.

    Ummm stuff… about stuff…or something.

I am on PC so not sure if the music is the same. I assume it is.

    The music is this as far as I can tell;

The opening solo is a trumpet.
Then there is a choral section.
Then a harp plays with strings.
    Then more Choral
Then back to the trumpet we heard at the beginning
Then flute and oboe and other woodwinds
    Then strings, and woodwinds
More strings and a French horn with a counter melody with choral.
    Ends.

Next section starts with Oboe or bassoon.
    Some more Strings.
    Flutes and woodwinds with choral
    Yet more choral, strings etc
    Hey, a Piccolo :)
    More oboe.....
    etc.

There is really quite a lot going on and lots of music to hear to try pin-point what specific part you are hearing, sorry.

(EDIT: I want to thank the music director and composer for such lovely music too. Kudos to all involved.)

oboe is related to clarinets...woodwind, they have a reed you blow air over a piece of wood.
trumpets trombones are brass they are more blowing into metal types

Saxaphone looks like a brass but is actually a woodwind...go figure

Actually Oboe and Bassoon are related and both have double reeds. Oboe's are black usually which is why they look a bit like a clarinet, but that's more to do with the material they were traditionally made from.

Clarinets and Saxophones have a single reed and a contoured mouthpiece the reed vibrates against.

Sounds like a French horn then I would say a whole brass/woodwind section comes in with The timpani drums

Here’s a link to the Summerset theme on YouTube... Listen for the instrument you’re talking about and tell us the time on the video. That will help us figure out what you are hearing.

I could ask the sound director. But I don't know whom sound director is and uncertain if sound director be interested to helping me. (at times I feel ignored by zos, since me being 2015) hence I not want waste sound director time. But what instrument is used for the Summer Set login screen and in PvP? (I always PvP, but alway battle)

I could record directly from the game itself. Then post on YouTube and post here. But i don’t want risk getting sued. Just to try make less confusing. It all instrumental. But I’m guessing, least wondering. Does everyone have the new screen, with leaves falling down and music? I’m on PS4. I thought everyone has this new Screen with leaves. If not, makes more sense I’m accidentally confusing others. I have Summer Set. But once I go in game. Has leaves this screen. Leaves falls down. Music starts play (PS4) then I click (x) then to server.

But then puts me in character login screen. (Where all our characters are) that’s when the instrument in question is at. It’s very loud. But it’s hard to describe in words, but very full of awesome and amazing. This instrument stands out the most. I know it’s “wind instrumen” but it keeps playing in character screen (where are characters are located) but I wonder if not everyone has this? I’m sorry for confusing. But does anyone know whom name of sound master is? I could send email support if need be. But not want waste valuable email resources.

Hi you 2 thanks. So I'm guessing all platforms are the same. It's just unsure if only Summerset hears music or all; I'm uncertain. But think you 2 both agree trumpet and French horn. What I not know, least should've known. (forgot) it could've been more of same instrument. Maybe, least wondering why so loud. However there are certain instruments I've not heard of before. 1. Oboe, 2. Bassoon 3.chroal. (I wonder if there cousins of different instruments) thanks you 2 :)

    Thank you!

It starts at 59seconds. Goes louder, then stops at 1 minute and 34 seconds. Then it starts again at 2 minutes and 17seconds. But don't last long. (I thought I heard violin though to at end of theme)

yah, if it's the booming/resonating sound starting right after 0:59, it sounds brass to me as well - too high for a tuba, and sounds lower than a traditional trumpet, so yah, I'd guess @froil is right, and it's probably a brass somewhere in the middle (he listed them)

not that I know music all THAT well, so I could be full of crap

This is the 21st century. We have things called computers in this age. This means that people can make instrumental music without musical instruments and, thank god, without instrumentalists too. It's all bits and bytes until it hits your speakers.

I would honestly want go back in the past. Without computers and we'll. Wooden ships and loads of Instruments. But same time I've checked the credits in game. Not finished all of them, but ZOS uses studio to make there music. (forgot name, it in credit though) but people (not sure what they called) play instruments. Has instrument name by there names (those playing music)

My money is on the baritone horn. I've sent the intro music off to someone who plays the baritone to see if he agrees with me :)

<edit>I've heard back and it is confirmed by my source it is the baritone horn that you are hearing at those points in the song. This is from my father who has played the baritone for almost 80 years, as well as other brass instruments.

No question that’s in the low brass family. My first thought was trombone or baritone (or euphonium), but it may also be a bass trombone; like a trombone, but can play lower and has a deeper sound.

I would suggest that at 0:59 that the melody is played by the trombone section. While a baritone horn sounds similar to a trombone, the intonation between the notes hints towards it being trombone, according to my ears anyway. I've played both instruments.

At 2:17 it's the trombone/low brass section again with trumpets coming in over the top.

I do quite like the music. :)

Played this for a trombone player I know (who also doubles on baritone), and he says it’s trombones starting wity the melody and adding bass trombones along the way.

Side note: As a horn player, I can tell you that French horns did not get featured at all in this arrangement, and that saddens me.
