They must be too busy getting ready for tomorrows E3 showcase to bother with customers right now. Hopefully they are giving a presentation on their partnership with Steam and how well it's doing for their player base.

I used the other way around by double clicking ESO64.exe and now i can login into the game right now.... it seems only work if we purchased the game before we are able to link with our steam account.... i bought the game in 2015

So will all the disappointed NA players get on Twitch tomorrow and give them a "earful" about being unable to login for hours I wonder.

    Hooray for good communication. /s

Right?! You would think they would at least update us after 7 hours. :(

Yeah, that is quite a long time on a popular day. A "We are still trying to fix it" just to keep the morale moderate would have helped. At the very least.

Running eso64.exe in Zenimax Online>The Elder Scrolls Online>Game>Client allowed me to bypass the problem, by giving me the option to manually log in.

This doesn't work for those that bought the game on steam (after Dec 2016) that didn't have an older account like a beta to link. Just pointing this out as it helps only those in this unique position.

It's honestly ridiculous that some people don't have the option to manually log in.

Those people simply don't have a standalone ESO account, only a linked Steam one. I think that's not really good for business, but we don't even know if it's ZOS' or Valve's fault...

They have a contract. They share the fault. I agree it's unfortunate we are not allowed to login directly and bypass this disruptive Steam nonsense.

I can't recall a single instance an MMO has had access down for this many hours without a just cause and I have been playing MMOs since 1999. Incredibly SAD MMO structure, without a doubt.

Everyone chill. I work in IT and when a problem comes up that affects our ecommerce sites, I can assure you we work on it until resolved. The ESO staff are working on this. However, given that's E3 is next week they may be in a situation where people they need may not be available and so the team is working to resolve the issue with what they have asap.

I work in IT as well, and if they didn't leave behind the available staff to fix game-breaking issues, they're doing it wrong.

Also, the total lack of communication to their customers since the initial outage report is a bit disheartening.

I work in IT too. The frustration most of us are feeling is less about the problem they're apparently not able to fix and more about the complete silence we're getting from the entire Zos team.

Yeah, it's getting a bit ridiculous at the moment. I just want to play and STEAM is failing, yet again, and blaming it on ZOS. I'm probably just going to buy the $80 bundle with the three games and 4 DLC and start over. I'll take the 6-month hit on crafting just to not have to worry about this garbage.

Sometimes it's better to say nothing other than to acknowledge the issue. If you provide a revised time frame ("we believe we've isolated the issue and should have the login operational with in the hour") and it comes and goes without happening, this can create more problems.

    Respectfully, that's BS.

They could at least pop in and say "Hey guys, we're working on it!", "Hey guys, no fix yet, but we're still working on it", etc.

We don't need a timeframe. We do need communication.

As far as MMO's are concerned, I play this and WOW. Blizzard isn't perfect and their game goes down occasionally as well, but they communicate with their player base way better than ZOS has done. It's the difference between professionals and the minor league.

I've went to E3 once and nearly all of the people that my company sent were marketing and game producers. I'll bet that hasn't change much. Anyhow....

I agree. It's kind of insane that there is no response to this thread at all. Most all of us have paid subs. It has been 8 hours now of not being able to do anything, and no communication. It's sad really.

No it's not BS. There's only two possibilities at the moment:

    1. They don't know what the issue is and they're continuing to investigate.
    2. They know what the issue is and they're working on it now, but they don't know when it will be resolved.

In either case, they have nothing to report.

The biggest problem with ZOS is that they aren't acknowledging the issue and giving at least hourly updates, even if it's not fixed.

They put a banner up half a day ago and we haven't had a peep from them since.

    Also, love the name.
