I think, like linux, mac installs the games separate to the install and in your users folder. If you go to /Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support you should see a steam folder in there. From there I *think* it will be like on windows,
Steam/SteamApps/common/Zenimax Online/The Elder Scrolls Online/game/client/eso64...
Let me know if you find it ok!
Thanks again. This sure is vexing. I got as far as Users/<my user name> and there was no Library listed but rather Applications, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Dropbox, Movies, Music, Pictures, Public. So I looked in each of those and found nothing Steam, ESO, or Zenimax related. Looks like people are starting to get back in; that's good. Appreciate your help nonetheless.

Yeah, that is quite a long time on a popular day. A "We are still trying to fix it" just to keep the morale moderate would have helped. At the very least.

Running eso64.exe in Zenimax Online>The Elder Scrolls Online>Game>Client allowed me to bypass the problem, by giving me the option to manually log in.

This doesn't work for those that bought the game on steam (after Dec 2016) that didn't have an older account like a beta to link. Just pointing this out as it helps only those in this unique position.
