Idk why anyone would want to upgrade a crafted set to gold anyway. Yeah they are good sets and will suffice for almost anything but not BiS. Most of best sets can be gotten gold through vet trials and even overland and dungeon sets come to weekend vendor. Only thing that I see that is dumb af is the jewelry crafting writs. All in all it’s just something to work toward if you want it. If I could turn my HoF jewelry gold after a few days then why would I ever run vHoF?

    Lol... the entitlement is real.

Entitlement? We literally payed real life money for access to jewelry crafting that we barely get to use. Yes i do feel entitled to stuff i paid real dollars for.

Paying to access it is fine, assuming it will be handed to you without effort especially if its a more luxiourous bower boost, is silly.

The wording is what i was focusing on, complaining that you cant "enjoy crafting" right out of the gates screams entitlement. Of course it was going to be expensive, what did you honestly think? Is this your first mmo? Come on now....

Let’s say you want to craft a full 3 piece set of legendary jewelry. Let’s assume you have maxed out your jewelry crafting skills and are Rank III in Platings Expertise. Let’s also say you are either too impatient to grind materials or RNG hates you so you choose to purchase materials in the guild stores. At current average prices (which will not get better any time soon, and will be far worse on console) this is how much you can expect to pay:

Materials and Costs for 2 Rings and 1 Necklace
    • Platinum Ounces x350 @160g each = 56,000g
    • Terne Plating x6 @2,250g each = 13,500g
    • Iridium Plating x9 @ 5,000g each = 45,000
    • Zircon Plating x12 @ 25,000g each = 300,000g
    • Chromium Plating x24 @ 150,000g each = 3,600,000
    • Grand Total for 3 piece legendary jewelry set = 4,014,500g

Only the wealthiest players will get to enjoy crafted legendary jewelry.

Once again, ZOS givith and taketh away in a single breath.

i think that price went down a friend of mine said itd costed him around 4.6 lol

I mean zos has been making every effort to reduce grinding so i'm sure this came as a shock to some. In any case the mats will come down, not to anywhere near a reasonable level though. I'd expect that since you need 10x the amount and they share the same node as blacksmithing that'll make them 10x the amount per. Plus the fact that the nodes are 1 out of every 4 ore nodes i'd guess that they'd be at least another 2x the price. All in all 20x the price of a temp is what i expect them to come down to. About 160k+ per on console.

If you don't want to spend the gold you can always farm the mats yourself - somebody has to farm them to sell them.

All my averages are already way lower than that so you are either on NA or like to inflate it a bit to give your argument more weight. Also since they are averages they are currently inflated by the extremely high sales right after release.

Prices will continue to drop for the reasons I pointed out in my earlier post.

However that all said prices will never reach a point where it's worth gilding out jewelry. Even gilding out gear currently is not worth it except for weapons so I am not sure where the expectation comes from that it will be different for jewelry.

99% of the playerbase doesn't even know their chars well enough to even feel the tiny difference between purple and golden jewelry in their playstyle.

Jewellery crafting is still in its infancy and demand outweighs supply at the moment, so sellers will capitalise on that. Pretty standard with anything that is newly introduced into the game (or any mmo for that matter).

Yea, the cost of crafting and upgrading jewelry is prohibitive. IMHO the only thing jewelry crafting is good for is writs and learning traits so you can transmute dropped jewelry.

It's outfits all over again: they add something interesting and then make it inaccessible.

    Its the first week ffs.

Even then, jewelry crafting was never going to be on the same level as other crafts initially. It was always billed and designed to be an expensive outlet. It is going to take an investment in time and / or money to reallly reap the full benefits of the type of build freedom that crafting jewelery provides

Purchasing summerset grants access to the system. Nothing more, nothing less. When more mats begin to circulate, you will see some stabalization, but not in the first week.

The same thing has happened in every other MMO I've played, when a new crafting type (or tier) is introduced - the first couple weeks, the "master crafters" and market moguls take advantage of the rarity of materials & maxed crafters to gouge like hell. Over the next couple months, costs decrease as the supply of materials goes up, the number of capable crafters goes up, and the demand for products goes down.

    Welcome to economy 101.

(That said, I agree that the number of nodes is annoyingly low. And the "trait materials also need to be refined from tenths" thing just seems like it was added to make our inventories crash again after they gave us more space with the coffers.)

They should streamline JCrafting with the other craftings -> Just make the trait and upgrade items a single piece not a 1/10 of an item. Right now it serves only for transmuting your existing jewelry.
    "But gold Hunding's Rage jewelry?!"
I can't imagine people pouring so many resources into crafted jewelry. It's just not worth it.
    Just an example:
How much resources I need to craft a legendary Hunding's Rage dagger?
How much resources I need to craft a legendary Hunding's Rage necklace?
    It's ridiculious.

Although that's true, jewelry crafting has one very big problem: grains/platings. They are way too rare, and therefore stupidly expensive. Every other materials and their prices are in line of what can be expected from a brand new crafting skill. If you check the prices in OP, 90% of the combined price is from chromium platings... That's ridiculous.
