And now to respond to this:generalmyrick wrote: »pvp is fun...
i don't understand the folks that don't like it...just learn the pvp like you do pve!
as soon as i used a damage shield and respected the impen trait, pvp becomes 4500% more fun.
NOT fun for me. Why do I hate it? Simple. Teabagging. Trolling. Nasty, nasty people who gloat over my ineptitude. I have no desire to "get gud" or whatever with virtual sexual harassment and worse on the horizon. Now if people were gracious winners and people were not so awful to each other in other ways, then I might be interested.
It’s funny how the only ppl that dislike pvp are players that are literally clueless towards it. It’s not a dislike of pvp, it’s a fear of the unknown. I’ve never once in my life met a player that pvp’s well AND dislikes it. What they don’t like is losing... and pvp takes A LOT of losing to git gud. You’re average person wants something for nothing and is not going to put in the (losing) hours it takes to become proficient. And nobody enjoys being terrible at something... so it’s easier to say “whaaaa I hate pvp it’s stupid and I’m never doin it!” than it is to get good at it.

Yes, this implies that most MMO pvp is inherently broken. It's why I keep my pvp-ing to games that are actually meant for PvP. Fight me.
Anywho, I tried going into cyrodil a few times, both for caltrops and the skyshards. Every time I've gone, I've gotten ganked pretty much continuously shortly after entering enemy delves. Eventually when I'd give up on the delves and try and do some actual pvping, I would usually wind up alone and not realizing where the flow of combat was, because the map is only so accurate and the area is gigantic.
TL; DR most PvE players don't find PvP fun and never will. The real problem that this thread underscores is that PvPers must do PvE content for certain benefits, and PvErs must do PvP content for certain benefits. A critical failure of the MMO industry is to try and push players into doing content they don't enjoy, and that extends far beyond this game.
There should be non-combat options for cyrodil, period. And no overland / dungeon / trial set should be BiS for PvP. To quote a famous 90s band, gotta keep em' separated.

You must be speaking of me, my good sir... Once again, the question I replied to was how pvp is not fun for so many players. Just count the posts in this very thread stating that it isn't. For me it is not fun to get attacked like this. Is it fun for you to crouch motionless in the darkest corner of the room, minute after minute? What does all this sh!t have to do with "fighting"?
Lol again... no one crouchs motionless waiting. The players that attack you are very likely on the move, looking for enemies. I highly doubt anyone has the patience to wait for adversaries.
For the record, my pvp main is a mag sorc.. so i do not do stealth well. I keep my shields up & absorb the nb attacks ( if i can! ) then try & burst them down & have detect pots ready for the cloak. It doesn't always work. .. some nb players have good builds & are well practiced at the empowered burst from stealth. Same goes if they strike when my shields are down.
My point was.. no one is going to announce their attack & will use every advantage that they have at their disposal. The ticket is to always be on your guard.
Ignorance is bliss my man.

But why should I become proficient at something I don't like? I play MMOs to fight monsters and dragons and deal awesome damage and do awesome healing, not gank people and stunlock my way to victory over newbies. Zenimax saw fit to gate critical PvE content behind PvP, hence our dilemma.
Also PvP in this game is especially boring and difficult for PvErs to get into. Oh, you don't have Impen armor? Enjoy getting 2 shotted. And while you're at it, enjoy riding across the god darn countryside to get back to the action because the closest respawn point is 10 miles away. Battlegrounds are better in concept, but I've heard they're full of steamrolling premades, which is its own kind of heck.
I don't want something for nothing, I just don't want to be shoehorned into content that I don't care for, not because it's unknown, but because I find it terrible and not worth my time.

We'd never get a PvE version of Cyrodiil, so I'd say yes.
I'm sad to see that there are dark tetrad (sociopathic, notably) traits on display with many posters in their lack of empathetic understanding. There are a lot of people who suffer with generalised anxiety disorder and cannot PvP. It's not about 'git gud,' it's about a physical inability to engage in such content. I know there are those who'd say that they should anyway, illness be damned, but that shows a level of inhumanity that we should -- quite frankly -- all be uncomfortable with and disgusted by.
There are many, many other disabilities too that might stand in the way of someone either playing or being successful at PvP. Poor sight, deafness, tinnitus, processing issues, mobility issues (such as not being able to physically move fast enough), et cetera that would all result in an incredibly angry allied team. PvP games and experiences don't take these disabilities into account, so they're out of bounds for anyone who suffers with something that would make them a less than stellar player.
Consider, for example, having fibromyalgia and anxiety. The fibromyalgia means that quick movement might be difficult, and then when they do poorly? Their team will get on their case and try to pressure them, triggering a panic attack. That's not a great time for anyone.
I just wish PvPers had more empathy.

No, of course not. That would be pay to win and you would be a snowflake being afraid of dying in the game world. According to the pvp supremacists in this thread.
Perfect weapon for all trollsOther:
Make the token simply make the player unattackable for other players. Just like in regular zones. This way you still have to go get things and explore. Any quest or action that would require some kind of PvP action would be unobtainable, though. So you can't go pick up a scroll or whatever.
i imagine there would be a PVE opt out option too? so players can just walk into vAS and vHOF and loot the already dead bodies of all the world bosses. because thats essentially what your asking for= and easy way to get what others have to earn, simply because its not for you...
