What about improving the loot from mobs?

I think the loot you get from regular mobs is quite underwhelming. There is no excitement in slaughtering mobs when we know that they aren't going to drop anything useful.
If would be good if at least we could get an occasional legendary item, to deconstruct for tempers if nothing else. That would give us some better motivation to go out and fight hordes of enemies. Otherwise it's just a senseless grind. Legendary items should be rare drops of course, with a somewhat higher chance to drop from bosses.
Think of games like Diablo if you will, the chance of getting the occasional rare item is what prods players to keep going, but in ESO mobs drop only junk all the time, which makes it really boring.

Aetheric Cipher drops from base game overland mobs. Items don't get much more rare than that.

I am talking about introducing rare drops, but not as rare as Aetheric Cipher, which may as well not exist for how rare it is.

Would be great to see some rare stuff in the loot tables, but also what about improving the rewards from quests?

Yes, that would be great as well. ZOS already made some steps in that direction, by giving set items and the occasional furniture piece (there was a time when you would only get a useless piece of normal armor!), but something more valuable would be nice, especially for the main quest in each zone.

It's supposed to be that way though for them, it's to guide players away from the old MMO way of just grinding everything out because ESO is a very different experience than, say, WoW. If you overly incentivise this, it'll just lead to confusion. I think they actually got this right.

If you want better loot, try pickpocketing!

If the entire community were honest, it's a reward that ZOS could possibly implement.

But like most everything else, it's a few turds that ruin it for everybody. So when you see a bot train, be sure to /flipthebird

But people are already forced to grind for XP, at least with better loot the process would be less tedious. Pickpocketing (or killing NPCs) is not different, really, it just takes longer to get some loot. Moreover, the loot you typically get from pickpocketing is junk as well.

how about making weapon/armour skill line levels effect what gear you will get from mobs, chests and even quest rewards just as your crafting levels effect what material nodes spawn in your location.

LOL. I am playing since beta, slayed zillions of mobs, and never, ever found a single Cipher. That is not motivation. Its an insult.

If the mobs didn't drop over dead every time you so much as sneeze at them then maybe better drops would be warranted. As is it almost feels like free gold any time you pop something overland.

And yeah Aarlur I have been playing from the beginning also and have never seen a Cipher nor the dust other than in a guild store. I'm trying to get all the trophies you get from killing things so I'm killing and harvesting probably more than the average player and still nothing. Still I hope...

Yeah white junk filling my packs does not keep me playing forever.. if it doesn't change i'll be looking for a new game sooner than later..

I cannot do dungeons with a 400ping time.. And PvP would make me shoot people in real life.

OP wants better drops from trash mobs, the most common NPC in the game?

While OP does not provide any suggestions, Suggesting the better drops should not be extremely rare from the most common NPC class in the game is probably a little off base.

Those NPCs already make us rich. The ton of gear they drop that we can vendor is worth much more than the gold they drop.

This here is a different issue not a reason for Zos to change drops on trash mobs. I do not think Zos is responsible for a 400 ping and certainly should not make changes to what trash mobs drop as a result.

You know, I've been playing since beta/early access.

No one has ever even attempted to "force" me to grind for experience. No one has forced me to grind levels as fast as possible.

Who is forcing anyone to grind for experience or levels? Is there some kind of access timer on the game that counts your experience and levels and autodeletes the game if you don't manage to make that many levels in a certain amount of time?

Or is it the players who want to level as fast as possible because "reasons" of their own?

There are quite a few ways of making gold in the game; boosting the loot from normal mobs is probably not the best way to "improve" that.

Well it only appeared after summerset.. Before that my ping was a standard 250 daily.. I'm Aussie.. Strange how its my fault the day after a large chapter arrives..

I'd like to see that zero value junk we loot from urns/containers have at least a bit of value, and not so many green recipes, blue motif books, or white/green furnishing plan drops that have nothing to do with the zone being looted. I'm not saying to eliminate them, just change it a bit.

Better loot from mobs would be nice, either in usefulness or vendor value or break-down.
"Such is the nature of evil. Out there in the vast ignorance of the world, it festers and spreads. A shadow that grows in the dark. A sleepless malice as black as the oncoming wall of night. So it ever was, so will it always be. In time all foul things come forth." -Thranduil

With regard to the white items looted from containers, yes, I don't get the point of having totally useless and worthless things either.

The items I would like to occasionally see drop from mobs are for example: cool furniture items that you wouldn't find in other ways, rare motifs, costumes, and the rare but not impossible legendary item (not necessarily only weapons and armor, also gold furniture, perfect roe, a vial of psijic ambrosia, whatever is rare).

I understand that mobs are pretty easy to kill for many players, but these special drops would only happen once in a while, so you wouldn't end up with tons of rare goodies in just 5 minutes. Mobs in public dungeons and pledges could have a reduced chance to drop something good, since there are lots of them all concentrated in one place (plus mobs in pledges already drop better items I think).

    1) if you want to do nothing but kill. don't play a ROLEPLAYING GAME
    2) if everything dropped something immediately useful, all of the time, the economy would be destroyed.

That could be an issue, but ZOS could make the special loot bound on pick up.
