I used to think Belkarth, but then Vvardenfell came out, and now it's definitely Vivec City!

I like Craglorn best for layout and work flow. It's too bad there's no house there, but after testing other places Craglorn is just most comfortable so I'll stick with it. Maybe they'll stick a rental room in the inn someday.

Alinor is now the best place everything is next to each other - no running around.

If you premake your provisioning and alchemy and use lazy writ crafter addon the 7 crafting writs take about 1 minute from quest collection to hand in

Base game: Shornhelm, Rivenspire because of lower pop and though you need to go around the corner for the consumable ones, the buildings are next door and have a cooking fire in the enchanting building. There is also cooking fire in the bank, in case you forgot at the enchanting building/don't do consumables.

Chapters: if you have your own banker, Alinor, Summerset no question.

If you do not have crown banker, Vivec City, Vvardenfell.

I have the banker but I still prefer Vivec City because of the easy access to full banker so I can access guild banks and guild stores. I often sell or donate items from my writ rewards. Also the outlaws refuge is right there if I also need to fence or claim my upteenth unmarked sack.

Mournhold, especially if you have backlogs of the consumable writs, because then you only need the equipment ones, which are all conveniently next to each other. I usually do them in Rawlk'ha though out of pure habbit

It would be Alinor IF I didn’t have to buy something from a guild vendor once in awhile. But sometimes I do, and so I still prefer either Rawl’kha or Vivec City.

I'm using Rawl'kha and Vivec City about equally. They both have a decent cluster of bank, stable, crafting boards and stations, all close to the wayshrine. Those who do the writs, and then go back and deconstruct tend to use Vivec, and those who bank the items for lower-level alts use Rawl'kha, because the bank's right by the shrine.

Some alts just use their "home town" where they're living in the inn room. Vulkhel Guard, Daggerfall are a bit spread out, but using local means no travel loading screen. If I didn't park them in a "home", then I'd just be using the first two. All my characters have a home, and some use both house and inn room.

I have been doing all my writs in Vivec City, everything is so close together. Two banks in the middle, all crafting tables and writ boards all within close walking distance and the supply area where you turn in the writs is close by on the docks.

    Malabal tor hands down

Everything is extremely close. Yes the bank is in one building and the alchemy/enchant another but I always have a bunch and again much much closer together then anywhere else I have found except vivec.

Vivec would prob be first but the randos everywhere doing stupid junk annoys me

Distance from Bank, Stable, Guild Traders, and Wayshrine prevent Alinor from being perfect, though it does have proximity to a geyser and ease of joining Cloudrest farming groups in its favor.

Vivec and Rawl are still better all-around choices, but it's irritating that jewelry writs get picked up at the equipment board and get crafted with the consumables, creating either backtracking or a really inefficient loop. Actually - that's true of every town.

recently switched to deshaan with my main, because the maser crafter mediator is closest and since my master crafter is getting more consumable master writs lately I just make them there directly.

I agree that for convenience (not logic) I would like the have the jewellery writ at the consumable writ board..
but then I never liked the palcement of boards on most places, except when they are really close together.

Since the point was brought up a few times, what does everyone consider to be part of "doing crafting writs"? I include the selling of ornate items, deconstruction of intricate ones, etc. as part of mine, and when the crafters are at max level, that starts to involve the bank for passing them down to characters that still need the inspiration.

Whether I do the reward disposal at the end of the cycle, or make it part of the next visit to the crafting station, also varies with level. Master crafters dispose as it comes in, others while making. What do you all do?

Things like that make a difference in how important the distance between the crafting stations and the turn-in becomes in your calculations. Same for the bank. If it's part of the cycle, because you're passing items down, then its location factors in more.

Having a banker can really decide which place is best. I was a Mohrnhold gal through and through until Summerset. Now Alinor is my go-to. I keep stacks of consumables in the bank so either location —Mournhold or Summerset— is very convenient for writs. Quick and easy!

And to take into consideration a merchant, both locations have merchants right near the writ turn-in, or spawn your own merchant!

For optimized writmaking Velyn Harbour and Vivec City are now about as good. Before jewelry crafting Velyn Harbour was clearly the best, but Vivec City has it in very good place, and that compensates its remote writ return boxes.

Vivec wins if bank or guild traders are important. Velyn wins if stables are important. Vivec has less stealable containers around tables and return boxes - less chance for opening wrong containers.

For me Vivec has now one clear advantage, easy access to guild bank, and i am moving my crafters now to Vivec City.
Edit: Keeping latest characters, which are still feeding horses in Velyn Harbour because Vivec stables are out own.
