Most Convenient Place for Writs?

Rainwhisper

Obviously, Dhalmora would be perfect if it had writ boards, but sadly it doesn't.

Where's your favorite place to pick up writs, quickly craft them, and then port to Craglorn?

I think Mournhold is the most convenient (and I bought the Flaming Nix Deluxe Garret for that reason). You do have to go inside for provisioning, enchanting, and alchemy, but the writ boards, crafting stations, and wayshrine are all right next to each other.

Either Mournhold (especially with Flaming Nix apartment being so cheap) or Capt Margaux's in Daggerfall (which also drops you right outside the bank and pack merchant as well as the writ boards). Even made a new account @Writ-Boards and put it in my guild with primary residence as Capt Margaux's as a service to my guild...

I don't find the layout of Craglorn as convenient, and there's no house right at the crafting area.

I've admittedly done a lot of writs in Belkarth (even before master writs were en vogue). Needing a change of scenery, I've reduced writ pickups there to just one (1) character now.

In addition to the other suggestions above, Stormhold has a pretty compact layout between writ pickup, fulfillment, and nearest wayshrine.

For normal max level writs there is no other alternative than Belkarth. Any teleporting destroys the speed of writmaking. But if i had to pick second best, it would be Rawl'kha because it has everything close by in a circle.

For master writs i bought Snugpod to a mule account and put in consumable stations. Now i can always return to Rolis with one keypress. I think i will also copy all the IC and Earth Forge stations to my main home in S'ren-ja. IC is such a bother.

The only thing I have against Stormhold are these two NPCs in the crafting area.

    fdac9da7da1d4733b5838e47b3ee63af.jpeg

Their constantly repeating dialogue with no delay (with a massive radius) drives me crazy. :p They can't be selectively muted using addons, so I have to mute all when I craft there.

True, but the same issue exists in Belkarth. Heard of "Cry me a river so that you can float out of Craglorn"?

tier-10 writs - craglorn - no porting about

tier-1 writs - auridon - starter city vulkyl guard or whatever.

If I'm not already in Craglorn, Auridon is convenient for me. Grab the equipment writs, run up to the woodworking station, go back down the stairs for the smithing and clothing. Head over to the consumables board; the Crystal Vial is right next to it and they've got fires for cooking next to their enchanting and alchemy stations. Then a loading screen is involved, but the delivery point is a short ride away from the Belkarth wayshrine.

I do them in Craglorn.. reapers march or if I am for some other reason in Grahtwood I do them there (only the provisioning fire is a bit off route.. but on the way to the wayshrine).
I really detest doing them in Craglorn.. the boards and all of the crafting stations are so far apart.. especially provisioning fire..

Edit: always thought dhalmora would be sooo perfect... if only writ boards and wayshrine closer by..

I have been doing them in Elden root.... I walk up the upper ramp take the writs.. then walk around in a circle doing them. Then run down to port to craglorn. (this character doesn't have provisioning)

Craglorn is too spread out and annoying to craft at.

I like stormhold as well actually.

Reapers march is too popular and I just lag out.

One port to Belkarth, easiest for me anyway. I like the snug pond idea. Hate Elden root to damn laggy. Rawlka is the next best. Everything pretty close.

This might be a little bit out of topic, but master writs just got a bit more convenient in my guild. I copied all IC crafting stations to my home. No more serial loading screens to just craft one item. Homes are getting useful - not just dollhouses with wax bananas!

Shornhelm hands down best place to do writs, everything is right there in a small area even the stables!!!!!!!! Crafting writs right next to all 3 stations, consume writs all next to it. enchant and cooking in same place 3 feet away. I DID NOT KNOW i needed to turn into craglorn that I need to start doing for the NIRN.

I train my level one alts to do crafting, I teleport on any guild member in Shornhelm or ravenspire. I stay there everyday and get them done in 5 minutes max. i have a harder time with my inventory than i do writs. I also how i prep my alts i make sure they train their mount right then and there before I turn them in. If i run out of jute i go to bank of course i am in 3 trading guilds I go for cheapest as well so i might travel out of shornhelm For some reason jute is only thing i run out of.

Riften. The consumables board is right by the wayshrine, a straight shot to the crafting board, which is right next to the building where ww, clothing and smithing are steps away from each other. The bank is the next building, and the enchanting tent on the other side of the bank. Then drop down for the turn-in, and pop back to the wayshrine.

The second most convenient I think is Hollow City, and Rawl the third.

Craglorn isn't laid out as conviently as either of them, and the ww station being so far away is a deal breaker for Glenumbra to me.

    Wayrest might be the worst.

Old thread necro..... You no longer *have to* turn writs in in Craglorn. Now you can pick up and turn normal writs in anywhere there is a turn-in point. Stonefalls, Mournhold, Daggerfall, where ever.

You do have to go to Craglorn to find nirncrux however.

This is an odd necro, but a good one. The conversation looks different now that the writs can be turned in anywhere, which makes the topic even more interesting imo.

I've been using Reaper's for toons that travel, and Vivec City for toons that are parked in place.

This morning I tried Riften, a place I hadn't really considered until I saw it mentioned by a poster above. I'm impressed, and will probably be doing most of my writs there now. The stable and guild trader location are real drawbacks, but most of my toons don't need those anyway.

If I've got a character parked specifically just to log into and do writs, Velyn Harbor in Malabar Tor is probably my preference. For those that say you have to enter a building to access enchanting/alchemy, I always stockpile all the necessary food, glyphs, potions/poisons to keep me going for several weeks without crafting again. The BS, WW, and clothing stations are all under the same, small roof and the turn in is just up the hill making it a quick turnaround time.

My "home city" that I use for my main character, who is also my master crafter, is Marbruk in Greenshade. It's not the most conveniently laid out city in the game, but the relatively low, but stable, population keeps lag and random loading screens to a minimum, and I've been using it for around 20 months now, so I could navigate it with my eyes closed. There are five guild traders that (on XB-NA) are utilized by mid-tier guilds that offer both good selection and also the chance at good deals.

My typical daily rotation on my main is to login in the bank, check mails, check my bank from my alts' Dreloth urn runs, list all previously known recipes and furnishing plans in my traders, run up the hill and browse the last 24 hours worth of trader listings for good deals, grab the material writs, knock out BS and clothing, jump down to the WW station, run to the consumables board by the mages hall, jump down to the writ turn in located just a few yards away, pray for a master writ, run back to the bank and list any glass motif fragments, superb glyphs, recipes, etc. from the writ rewards, then figure out the plan for the rest of the evening.

I like the Hollow City in Coldharbour for most of my characters. I don't have to worry about accidently stealing something when I drop off the writs and I have gotten good stuff (e.g. purple recipes and furniture plans) from the bank and dwemer lab. I also farm some alchemy ingredients as I wander around.

The only downside to the Hollow City is the enchanting and Alchemy stations are locked until you do some of the quests there. I get around this by crafting a bunch of runes and potions at my house and just stockpiling them until I run out.

I think Mournhold is easily the most convenient for picking up writs, completing them and handing them in. The bank is a little further away but that is not an issue if you have a banker.

I was only doing the 3 crafting writs for quite a while and found Shornhelm, in Rivenspire, to be great: the bank, writ board, crafting stations and drop off point all withing spitting distance.
