What’s been your worst RNG grind?

I never thought any grind in this game would beat VMA before there was transmuting - but I’ve been proven wrong.
Today I officially gave up on grinding for ANY Mother’s Sorrow Flame Staff.
750000 AP and 2 weeks of grinding Deshaan world bosses 2-3 hours at a time and not a single flame staff. Not talking about a random trait one - I mean 0 Mothers Sorrow Flame staff drops.
So I’m just curious what has been everyone else’s worst rng luck in the game.
I’d also give an honorable mention to cleaning 888 fish and getting only 3 Perfect Roe.
Today I officially gave up on grinding for ANY Mother’s Sorrow Flame Staff.

Last time I was in a public dungeon there, there was a big group farming the bosses there. Quicker than world bosses. I got a sharpened inferno staff in under an hour. I know that's sheer RNG too, but I think you end up with more drops quicker this way.

Pfft, amateur. I once filleted 1000 fish and got only 2 roe.
But the worst RNG-related grind was that dungeon/sweepstakes event a while ago. Grinding dungeons I'm bored with, using the group finder which I hate, doing pugs which makes me want to stab myself in the eye or running groups with the absolute biggest a-holes in my then guilds because all the nice people already had run their dungeons for the day. All I wanted was the stoopid blacksmith outfit. Did I get it? Nope. Did I get anything that made any of it seem at all worth it? Not even remotely. Never again.PC-NA since 2015. ✭✭The worst was vet darkshade grind for strength of automaton, I felt like quitting. I needed to have jewellery because I was using a crafted set. But the number of runs wasn't the issue it was finding anyone to run the dungeon... I had multiple days 1 hour group finder waits to only having people quit or afk to have to have another 1 hour group finder wait....
Into someone asking
"Hey is this what you are looking for?
"Yeah, can I pls have it?"
"Nope only tanks get gear"
I didn't have a damn tank I hadn't even properly geared out a single character yet!
I still have VDSA and VMA grinds to look forward to.. at least I can transmute now

✭✭✭✭✭Darkshade Caverns, trying to get a Netch's Necklace. It hadn't been dropping on the Golden Vendor so I ran the dungeon like a dozen or so times off and on without a single drop. Finally after a while I get that necklace from the final boss.
Couple days later the necklace shows up in the Golden...CP2,100 Master Explorer - AvA Two Star Warlord - Console Peasant - Khajiiti Aficionado - The Clan

Aletheion✭✭✭Burning Spellweave Inferno Staff - any trait.
I don't know how many runs, but it's in the hundreds. I have loads of every other weapon, jewelry and so many armor pieces, including a sharpened lightning staff. I'm not sure why the grind for a fire staff on a fire magicka set would have such a low drop rate.

I lived in CoA for a month farming for that. Never got a sharp but got an infused and charged one. The infused one is now BiS but I almost lost my mind farming for the sharpened back in November 2016.

✭The absolutely worst have been the Morrowind furniture purple plans, a real pain back then, I was able to farm a good number for myself and spot some at traders guilds for somehow low prices, that's a rng grind too (at traders kiosks, all of them, from starting zones to big towns) and very time consuming too if done daily and sometimes twice a day.
A VMA lightning staff, not a specific trait, the very weapon didn't want to drop at all, I got it after so many runs I already had dozens of all the other weapons and a very disgusting number of 2H.
BSW inferno staff, I've found 3 at the time there was no transmutation and I got a Training (deconned), a Defending (gifted to another player), got a Sharpened with an alt level 45. After that I've never ran that place with alts.
Later on I found other 2 inferno I still have.
Though I must say I've farmed that place insanely because it's the very first veteran dungeon I soloed (to farm infernal guardian at the time) and I use to go there to quickly try out new sets and builds, so I really farmed a lot that place.
An Ice Hearth heavy divines didn't want to drop for me or any of the members I ran with, I had many divines medium and light but it's been long to get a single divines heavy, I was running for weeks the day it was pledge (almost non stop all day). After the first one I got a bunch (and 2 consecutively, troll drops).
The most positive notes for me about grind have been a resto Lich defending that dropped very fast since I was after that (also the right trait, I found many others after that first one but that was the trait I needed) and various lucky helms that dropped at the "no-transmutation time" in right traits and got all weights decently soon (Skoria, Ilambris and Grothdar that were needed in particular have been lucky helms).lll
"I really don't know who the **** came off with this change. Definitely somebody who does not play the game, that's for sure".

Meld777✭✭✭✭✭Took me ~620 vMA runs to get my Sharpened Inferno.
For the Mother's Sorrow staff, it took me 1.5M AP, but I didn't mind cuz I had tons of it and could really use the jewelry for deconstructing, too.
Also, how can you compare anything with vMA that you can eventually buy? The staff goes for under 100k on PC EU, if you check TTC. If you're that sick of the grind, you can just do what works 100%: buy cheap, resell, you'll earn 100k in ~2 hours as a beginner. Or just go for a few trial runs with friends. You'll get the same amount in 4 - 5 trial runs from plunders.
Another grind worth mentioning was the vAS HM polymorph. Though, I was very lucky it took me ~50 runs. A friend of mine did over 100 and it never dropped for him.Maelstrom Arena Champion | Undaunted | Fighters Guild Victor

i gave up and bought a golded out one in zone for 140k. almost had another one for 50k but someone beat me to it.
as far as roe go -- i have gotten them back to back, and one got three roe from 5 fish. i also went 648 fish without getting one--- yes, i counted.
