What do you feel would improve the quality of life for people hunting treasure chests?

I am curious on what ways treasure chest can be improved for the community since I see enough times people complaining about people that leave stuff in chests and the people that go right for chests that they didn't have inventory space to take all said items that other person took an item they really wanted?

The best QoL improvement would be if people would stop the incessant whining about it on the forums. Resource farming is competitive, it has been designed that way throughout the game from the bottom up and has been proclaimed by ZoS as such. Be faster, clean out your inv, and accept that sometimes the other guy is smarter or quicker than you.

An no it's not 'rude' to leave trash in nodes or chests either. People do this for 2 reasons, either because they don't have a craftbag and simply can't handle the volume of loot, or because they have an economic mind and realize it's the best thing to do for their bottom line in a competitive market. Rudeness is not a motivation in this for any significant number of players.

Let me guess, you steal chests from others & leave your crap for others to find. I'd bet 10 bucks on It.
You are the worst type of player for more reasons than treasure chests

loot from a treasure chests should be in a container .. similar to how ROW containers hold items. When you loot a treasure chest, you are taking the 'loot container' (which contains all the loot you would have otherwise found in that chest) - while the loot is in the container, it only takes up 1 inventory space. This gives you a quick and easy way to take all the loot all at once using a single inventory slot (meaning no left overs for the next person to find).

So many people like to chime in to say that the complaining about the half-looted chests is what annoys them. Well, guess what--you can ignore the complaining just EXACTLY the way you're suggesting we ignore the half-looted chests, and then not only will you not be a huge hypocrite but these threads will be even shorter.

Make their respawn timer start when the lock is picked-- if this is already the case, leave them alone.

Everyone's inventory should have an overflow with no limit, but after 1 hr the item disappears if you don't put it in proper storage.

I think I have left a chest partially looted a handful of times in 4 years, I don't like leaving loot full stop I may be a cowardly nightblade but I'm a greedy nightblade to quote Daffy Daggers Duck. If I get a full inventory I look to see what I can trash, and I rarely find half-looted chests too, so I guess the word has gone out to clean up. I like inventory overflow or chests renewing after a minute or two.

Just in case this wasn't mentioned already(didn't read everything):

Once a chest is opened, it's respawn timer starts. It does not matter if it is completely looted or not.
Once the timer is up, a new chest appears in one of the possible spawn locations. If there was a half-looted version of the chest somewhere, it disappears at this point.

This means other people leaving half-looted chests does not affect you negatively in any way (except maybe for the disappointment). You will find just as many new chests as if the other guy was looting properly.

This seems to be the simplest and most elegant solution. The same could be done for crafting material nodes.

I've tested chests before and from what I can say the chest's despawn timer or as you put it timer for a new one to spawn can be resetted by someone else interacting with the chest. Did this for a full hour. I do think some people have a valid reason for complaining about others leaving stuff because a series of people won't go taking the said items out.

multiple people on here have tested it and they all disagree with you. So im going with those people since they all found the exact same thing.

Crafting nodes are also on a despawn timer and will go away, whether fully emptied or not, once opened. This means that even if you open and look, but remove nothing, it will despawn in a couple of minutes. I don't know if continually peeking at the node resets the timer.

If that is the case then why do so many people complain about people taking only some items out and leaving a chest with junk around? Now note you see no one else nearby.

Because they assume other people leaving half-empty chests reduces their own chance of finding a full one, which is not correct.

You know I don't actually ever think I have heard of that one. I know some people do it out of spite to throw off other farmers and to dissuade them from farming. Not a lot do this though, and majority of the reasons I hear people do this is quite simple... inventory space. There are many other reasons but mainly I hear about inventory space and others complaining they don't have the merchant or banker assistants.

As much as I hate coming across half looted chests with junk left, loot is instanced.

I always check them regardless. Out of at least 100 I've found half looted, I got one with a BA motif
