Everyone is too healthy in ESO; both NPCs and players.

There are only three diseases in ESO that I know of: Sanies Lupinus, Noxiphilic Sanguivoria, and Llodos Plague.

Only two of those are contractible by players, and both are transmitted by direct infection through bites.

Where's the rest of the diseases, like Rockjoint and Ataxia? In Oblivion, the player could contract tons of different diseases (easily curable by a cure disease potion). Wouldn't even matter to me if it was just present in quests or in dialogue. But it's very strange to see so little disease in the past, when the future holds much of it.

Have you seen any other mentions of disease in ESO that I missed? Do you think we need more?

If anyone wants a quick look at some of the weird diseases in TES lore, give this a read: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Disease

Summerset has had some mentions. (Mild spoilers below?)

There's been mention of Knahaten Flu.
A quest involving the illness that was basically like Greyscale from Game of Thrones. And another quest involving Thrassian Plague.

But yeah I'd love to see more plagues/diseases/etc, in quests or mentioned around. I always enjoy when vampirism or lycanthropy crops up and has to be dealt with hunter-style, and I liked the plague questline we had in Deshaan.

Yeah, but I don't think Knahaten is even in the game. :( The devs said it wouldn't be in the game at launch, and I haven't seen any mention of it since.

Haven't finished Summerset quests yet (been too busy with the jewelry craft megagrind).

Where's this quest that mentions Thrassian Plague? Hopefully they at least mentioned it in Summerset too, for lore reasons.

It's actually in Summerset. Not part of the main story, so if you quest around to clear up the dark icons you'll find it.

I think there is enough frustration in game. Having to deal with a disease to cure all the time would be aggravating. Just my opinion.

It's already more than enough that we need to bear all the players around.

Ataxia, though in lore, may have been removed due to misrepresentation. In actuality one can be affect by temporary ataxia due to illness, drug use (precribed legitimately or not) or after an operation for example. The word 'ataxia', in it's simplest form translates to 'a lack of coordination'.

The real world neurological condition called Ataxia is not a contagious desease but can be passed on genetically. Ataxia also has many forms such as Friedreich's Ataxia, Cerebellar Ataxia and specific area ataxias such as Gait Ataxia that presents as balance and coordination problems in the legs that impead walking ability. Ataxia may be aquired, idiopathic, hereditary, non hereditary or not classed as hereditary yet still 'passed on' via direct family lines.

As for other illnesses mentioned in this post, I do not have any clues as to why they where not included in ESO or not conditions players can contract and then cure with, say, a potion.

    Edit: Minor update.

Morrowind SPG was the last game to have a good Disease scheme. You fight a diseased animal, you might catch something. It had a measurable effect on your character.

There are plenty of diseases. If you notice your status while fighting some mobs you'll notice a debuff that lasts for like 8 seconds and which has a disease's name. Rockjoint iirc can be caught from a Durzog's heavy attack. We just don't much notice because they go away a few seconds later.

Exactly. I play ESO to have fun, not a chore. Already some parts of the game is not fun and feels chorish. If something feels chorish it's not fun. So adding in diseases into the game doesn't add fun.

    Pretty witty

I can't help but feel with such a direct contact with some extremely powerful beings, Nirn would be pretty healthy. Then I can't help but think of fang lair and scalecaller

Oblivion and Skyrim were the same. The difference was, most diseases in Oblivion weren't particularly noticeable. In Skyrim, they still exist, but are barely worth mentioning.

There are mods that re-balance diseases and make them much more threatening.

I'm not looking for, like...Oregon Trail levels of disease in a TES game. :dizzy:

Just more mentions of it than there are now. Because compared to TES III/IV/V, the characters in ESO have superhuman immune systems.
