How to play without MMO mouse

First, learn to play guitar. You'll be surprised about how flexible the fingers of your left hand can be. I've never had issues with reaching 1-5 in any situation.

Waiting for those replies where they tell you, "if you have big hands like me, you can do it this way..."

We all know what they're trying to make up for. :D

That's why I love controllers more, due to my big hands. I love those big, Kontrol Freak for my PS4 (ruins my thumbstick though, just replace thumbstick ever so often) without Kontrol Freak. I'll have outmost hand pain. It hurts so bad. But do I continue to suffer pain. And game no fun without Kontrol Freak. Or do I continue to destroy my PS4 control stick, over course of 6-8 months. Before replacing my PS4 control Stick. So I can have fun playing while using Kontrol Freak attachable Thumbstick. Having huge hands it's both a curse and a blessing at same time.

Don't really get the need for any special hardware. There's so few buttons needed for combat in ESO comparatively.

    1-5: Skills
    R: Ultimate
    Q: Quickslot Item
    Tab: Weapon Swap
    X: Use synergy
    F: Interrupt
    Space: Jump
    Shift: Sprint
    Ctrl: Crouch
    Double tap to dodge

The only additional button on my mouse I use is for Auto-run.

    What ?

Piece of cake and completely second nature now.

I occasionally switch over to mech keyboard and Razor Naga Hex as I just love that mouse, but for the most part I like to be sat back with my feet up :)

I play PC with a PS4 Controller while relegating most of the menu controls to the keyboard. That frees up a lot more customization options unlike on consoles where everything is crammed in on the controller. If a fight goes bad or needs a little more precision then yeah I'll switch to the Razer Naga which still works in gamepad mode.

Stupid question here; I use a ps4 controller as well but there are only 3 templates it lets me choose from within ESO, none of which have roll dodge. Are you using an external program for button mapping?

I use an xbox 360 controller and I just changed some of the binds in options... got tired of changing the camera every other time I swapped weapons.

L2 + X for roll dodge, hit the stick for the direction you wish to roll, or don't hit the stick to roll backwards.

I use the same mouse. Its just fine. What you and everyone else should do is throw your keyboards out the window. Time to graduate.

I'm from before mmo mice. When playing numerous games I've bound my entire keyboard to various actions. I use way more that twelve keys. But because I was told that I needed an mmo mouse, I got one. Then I found out that I have the wrong type of grip to use it well.

    lol

I tried and tried, but in the end I bound the mouse keys to movement. So during combat my left hand controls actions like my rotation and my right controls aim and movement. It's not the best, but it works.

I prefer roll dodge on controller. I used to spaz double click a direction on keyboard. Also, you get 360 degrees of roll dodge on controller. Isn't keyboard limited to forward, back, left, right? Might be remembering that wrong. Haven't played on keyboard since controller went beta.

I sit in a recliner, have for years, thumball wireless mouse M570 and wireless keyboard. Painless and I don't have to have my hands together like a varmint eating a meal.

I recently bought the logitech g502 to replace my razer naga, because the g502 fits my hand better. However, I literally cannot understand how to play the game without the buttons on the side. Even though the g502 has extra buttons, I find it difficult to use for the game. Could someone share some advice on how to get this right?

You can bind abilities to mouse wheel up,, down, tilt left and tilt right.

If you don't have big hands you just don't understand that certain mice are not usable.

Any keybind you want will work, even the default, with a bit of practice
I've only moved the barswap onto my mouse, and autorun off & only find sprint/gallop uncomfortable

I use a Keyboard and a trackball mouse. I went into controls and remapped my keys.. I use my mouse for movement and the Keyboard for combat.

This game has the best remapping for keys ... I love that ... so I could customize it for my style of Play ..

It goes both ways. I can't possibly imagine how people play with so many buttons on a weird shaped mouse. I use a regular one. Two buttons. One wheel. The only thing I changed was placing the Synergy on the wheel button for proccing that delicious Alkosh. It's all a matter of habit.

Although I am currently using a gaming mouse, I used to play eso without it and it hardly made any difference at all. I just map all combat controls to comfortable positions while not caring about the commands that navigate the menu (like attributes, guilds etc.).

    1-5 are the regular skills.
    R ultimate
    E potion
    Alt dodgeroll
    C weapon swap
    Y synergy
    X interact with environment
    And the default mouse settings.

All that's left for in combat use is preferred enemy target. I'd suggest the G key, F or Tab works too.

Give it a try if you like :) .

I chose Template B to remove Jump from Cross, but in gamepad mode you still have access to custom keybindings just hit Esc then Controls, Keybindings.

L2 and R2 are hard coded to be your attack keys and cannot be changed, the rest of my setup goes like this:

    L1 = Sprint
    R1 = Jump
    L1 + R1 = Dodge Roll
    L1 + Cross = Activate Synergy
    Share Button = Quickslots
    Options = Menu

Square, Triangle, Circle, Direction Left, and Direction Right are my action keys
Direction Up is Interact with other Players
Direction Down is use Ultimate (Hold Direction Down default is toggle First Person Mode, you want to disable that)
Left Joystick press is Mount up, Left Joystick held down is Crouch
Right Joystick press is Weapon Swap, Right Joystick held down is Sheathe/Unsheathe weapon

The PS Button opens Steam Big Picture menu, I can't change that for some reason. And the touchpad, comes and goes, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't gives you mouselook.

Everything else like opening map, Journal, cycling through quests, and whatever stays on the keyboard.
