How to play without MMO mouse

I recently bought the logitech g502 to replace my razer naga, because the g502 fits my hand better. However, I literally cannot understand how to play the game without the buttons on the side. Even though the g502 has extra buttons, I find it difficult to use for the game. Could someone share some advice on how to get this right?

    Waiting for those replies where they tell you, "if you have big hands like me, you can do it this way..."

    We all know what they're trying to make up for. :D

    This game probably has the lowest requirement for additional buttons of any MMO that I can think of. Only a few skills, after all.

    I’d bind your two skill bars to the scroll wheel, dodge to a convenient key on the keyboard, and you’re set. There just isn’t the variety of inputs necessary like a game where you’re running 20-30 skills at once.

    I play PC with a PS4 Controller while relegating most of the menu controls to the keyboard. That frees up a lot more customization options unlike on consoles where everything is crammed in on the controller. If a fight goes bad or needs a little more precision then yeah I'll switch to the Razer Naga which still works in gamepad mode.

    Trying to play with keyboard and mouse coming from using an Xbox controller for over 10 years, all I can think of is practice. I find my fingers are sore. So to me, I need to teach my fingers on how to do something new or something they are not use to.

    So now you need to teach your fingers and your thumb I am guessing to not use the side buttons and your other hand to use like me to extend to use buttons that you never did before. Right now I am trying a bunch of different key mappings. So I believe like me, you need to find something that is comfortable and learn it.

    Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    Binding skills to the keys around WASD is the way to go. I use a similar setup

    Q = Skill 1
    E = Skill 2
    C = Skill 3
    X = Skill 4
    Z = Skill 5
    R = Ultimate
    Tab = Consumable
    Left Alt = Synergy
    Forward button on mouse = Weapon swap
    Back button on mouse = Dodge roll
    F = Interact with object
    V = Interact with player

    My 5th skill slot is always something I don't use much or at all, like inner light for the slot bonus. And I bound 'T' as a secondary Ultimate key if I miss the 'R' key, so I don't die cycling my quests when I mean to ult.

    I'm a lefty and I've played enough now that my muscle memory does all the work for me (I play with standard controls), plus I play on a laptop so all they keys area a bit closer together already.

    Honestly, you can succeed in just about any set-up, all that's needed is time for your brain to rewire itself to get used to the new control set-up so that you can once again do it subconsciously.

    I use the numpad for various, direction arrows, del, end, page down for 1-2-3 right shift to sprint, ctrl to crouch, numpad 0 to jump. Mouse has three buttons/ functions - pot,ult,target.

    I wish I had never started gaming not using the general defaults WASD etc, too many years of muscle memory now

    I recommend the emacs add-on. It will let you keybind key or button combos. Like Shift+right click, or Ctrl+Z, or any other combo you want. It can go a long way to overcome a shortage of mouse buttons, by giving the ones you have 2 or 3 functions each.

    i ran that setup for years, then finally shifted away from it with one of the many fps i used to play.

    it took a lot of getting used to, but it was the best move i ever made, gaming-wise, tbh.

    I use a G13 Logitech game pad. In a game like this it is more comfortable to me then a keyboard yet still has plenty of buttons. Leaving the mouse just to be a mouse if you want.

    I also use the G13. I don't like being dependent upon specialized hardware, though. Logitech will discontinue it, if they have not already, and who knows if the replacement will be as good.

    I'm using a default logitech mouse with no buttons, and I've been completing the most difficult content in WoW (Arena 2400+ rating, Mythic +20-25 and end game raiding) with that mouse. Does it help to have additional buttons on your mouse? Yes. Is it a requirement? No.

    Stupid question here; I use a ps4 controller as well but there are only 3 templates it lets me choose from within ESO, none of which have roll dodge. Are you using an external program for button mapping?

    I use a g502. I use spacebar to weapon swap and the three thumb buttons for abilities along with Q and E. Jump is on the top button to the left of LMB and roll dodge is on the bottom button to the left of LMB. Synergy is G, sprint is LShift, 1 is potion, map is Capslock (remapped to a different key with keytweak), res is V, cursor is C, bags is B, and that's pretty much all you need. Left/right mouse tilt (right especially) is pretty useful too. I played Rift and was prob. the best all around pvper in the game for a few years with 20+ ability keybinds just fine with this same setup too--just more abilities on my keyboard.

    The most important part of this setup IMO is weapon swap on spacebar. I feel like it's a much better solution than having swap on your mouse and hitting it with a thumb button, because you're also going to be hitting abilities with your thumb too. You don't want to be using LA-swap-ability because you're using your thumb two times in a row on two different buttons for swap/ability.

    I haven't had any issues with this at all but if you're not used to using your keyboard for a lot of things, it might take some getting used to. There was a time when the best mouse you could get had a few thumb buttons and that was it, so you were pretty much forced to use the keyboard for a lot of things.. I guess some of us are "lucky" that we learned the hard way awhile ago ;)

    I use the binding skills around movement keys method. But I've relocated my movement keys one over to EDSF. This allows more keys to be used for other binds on the right side of the keyboard. Been using this same method dating back to Quake 1, Quakeworld days. I don't understand why WSAD has been the standard for so long when it limits your options so much.

    E= Move Forward
    D= Move Backward
    S= Move Left
    F= Move Right
    A= Interact with Object
    C= Crouch/Stealth
    Space Bar= Block (thumb)
    R= Skill 1
    W= Skill 2
    X= Skill 3
    V= Skill 4
    G= Skill 5
    H= Interact with Player
    T= Interrupt
    Q= Quick Slot Bar
    B= Use Ultimate
    Z= Sheath/Unsheath
    Numbers 1-8= Quick Slot item Select
    Caps Lock= Use Synergy
    Shift= Sprint

    Mouse 1= Fire/Attack/Select
    Mouse 2= Jump
    Mouse 3= Swap Bars (Middle Button)
    Mouse 4= Roll Dodge (Near Side Button)
    Mouse 5= Mount/Dismount (Far Side Button)

    Then I have re-mapped a lot of the misplaced actions along with addon buttons over to Number Pad and Insert,Delete, Home, End, Page up, Page down.

    Finally, Up/Down Arrows are bound to Zoom In / Zoom Out. But I usually play all the way out in 3rd Person.

    Not sure why you need any MMO buttons TBH. I have used a Logitech G 502 for this game for almost three years. The only thing I have bound to the mouse besides default is Bar Swap to one of the side buttons and Push To Talk for VOIP on the other side button. Oh and the middle mouse button is my Synergy button.

    That's it.

    R = forced run
    F1 = Ultimate
    Mouse 4 = Skill bar 4
    Mouse 5 = Skill bar 5

    The rest is default. I use a thumball, the least convenient type of mouse, simply because I play while sitting in a recliner so I don't have the luxury of a mousepad and it saves my wrist from carpel. I don't like panning the keyboard for skills 4 and 5 since the keyboard is actually on my lap.

    I use the logitech wireless trackball m570 mouse. First two buttons weapon swap and one of the five abilities, left & right buttons are left click / rt click, scroll wheel up/ down is for zoom camera in our out and I click scroll wheel to interact with items (E).

    You can remap all the mouse buttons with Logitech SetPoint
