They could have reduced the number of portals for each step, but I quite like that it's one quest per level. Really not a 'bad' grind and you can easily do it within a few (4-5) hours.

I hear some people saying that Psijic grind is easier than others such as Mages Guild or Fighters Guild or any of the other grinds. Maybe. However each of those other grinds seems to have some other advantage that helps ,

    eg
fighters guild....you can sell all the gear and mats from mobs killed, xp that aids other skill lines
mages guild....you can get xp for exploration when you start a new toon(sure you could get this from Psijic exploration on a new toon but most have already explored on their toons when leveling Psijic)

and the problem is more like that this is one more grind on top of all the other grinds. Added to crafting grinds (well done on the jewelry ....omg!), farming gear grinds, skill line grinds, etc..... I just want to pvp or trial or dungeon!

Sorry but the new guild quests are awful, repetitive, tedious, and lazy as hell.

Jump from loading screen to loading screen running/riding from A to B over and over, press E and then repeat 50+ times....

Is this the best anyone could come up with? Bundled with the restrictive grind fest that is jewellery crafting, traits that force you into one area of gameplay to find them, I can not understand how anyone could find this fun...

I did it over the course of a day...it was extremely chilled. No stress or boredom.

10x better than the dark brotherhood and theives guild leveling system. How is completing one quest to level up per level 10 times tedious? or lazy?

Everything in this game is repetitive beyond certain things.

As for the the whole thing you litterally just do one linear quest. The only same place you go back to is artaem realistically.

I mean what, would you rather have the skill line totally free from effort?

I made a thread about the dark brotherhood and theives guild systems in the same manner as you've made here and in comparison this system they've used for the psijics is 10x better.

You literally cant see the repetitive nature of this questline/skill line?... Okay.

No one said it should be easy and some people have already posted ways in which it could of been changed to have a bit more meat to it...

Everything you said has been addressed already before you even said it.

On the contrary I can see it, but its not something to be bothered about in comparison as you only need to run around too the same places and thus doing it over and over reduces the time it takes to do it each time until its done in almost a speed run fashion but your nearly always going in a linear line not back and forth nearly as much In comparison to DB which takes what, 10-20 times of back tracking through multiple loading screens and locations for multiple levels of the skill line? Seriously when you realise the difference the psijic skill line suddenly feels like a breeze.

    - You dont have to spam E to get the right repeatable quest
    - You dont need to go through 20-30 loading screens per level past level 5
    - You are not handicapped by skill line exp gains rigged behind a repeatable grind wall
    - Its far quicker in general

Im gonna say it plain, the design "might" be lazy (its subjective) but if I am perfectly honest people complaining about this are being just as lazy as they claim ZoSs design to be.

Im going to be doing it on my 4th character tomorrow. Its quick, chill and not stressful. Demanding everything be fun all the time on every character in an MMO is like asking water to stop being wet. The perceived repetitive nature of it is only influenced by the fact that people decided to make far more characters than they can truly manage and thus now feel slightly handicapped if they dont complete the skill line and in turn then decide too moan about how grindy it is because they dont want to have to do it all the time because they decided to have so many characters.

I have 8 Characters but realistically I only play on 5 of them and so im doing it on all 5 and no more. If I decide to play on my stamblade again then ill do it on my cat too but until then ill just leave him there. Priorities.

It is not how they did it, it is how you did it.

The quest doesn't say keep running from wayshrine to wayshrine pressing E or something. You (i mean we all) do that because we have a guide and we want to level it fast.

Quest originally is meant to be done while exploring Tamriel, and nobody is keeping you from it apart from your own rush.

You could simply take the Augur and take a long walk, staring at the skies or something. What you did was your decision to grind it fast.

Also the quests were real good, i loved the Augur so much that i didn't want to leave it at the end.
I also love the part where Josajeh gets exiled and we go to see her before she leaves. Standing in the tower garden sadly, watching the sky. I just took a moment of silence to stand and watch with her.

    2pte5wi.png

Two problems with this. One is Quest Markers. The bane of any true MMORPG. They introduced them so I MUST use them. I would have enjoyed the game MUCH more without quest markers or the ability to skip through quests without reading them.

    ZoS fault not ours.

Next is the rewards, they have all been trivial up until now. ZoS set certain expectations and have now changed those which is why you have some people hollering.

Personally I have no problems with the quests, I rather enjoy them, especially when I can force myself to slow down and watch/listen to the dialogue it's quite hilarious. :)

oh come on....putting the supposed "psijic grind" in the same sentence as jewellery crafting grind is a rather big stretch. Doing that crafting line without farming gear is just painfully slow too the point of almost standstill. Psijic stuff isn't like that it can be done in under 4 hours with ease. Thats the quickest of all the skill lines - maybe fighters guild is either on par with it or slightly slower but its definitely one of the fastest if not THE fastest in the entire game...

yes it all adds too the grind, whatever this is an MMO if people aren't used to grinds by now after all these years playing the genre....

Well, erm, cough, wasn't going to go to Summerset till things had quieted down a bit but thought what the hey and made a new character to experience the new intro, so I was there anyway.

So the Psijic quest line took me a bit longer as I had no map markers so couldn't fast travel and also had a low speed (slug speed) horse. I know my way round Tamriel plus a few shortcuts though so didn't do so bad, quite enjoyed most of it but it was dragging on towards the end.

However, that being said, the thought of having to do it on my eight other characters is not something I'd relish. In fact, I'd rather eat pickled gherkins and they doesn't taste very nice does they precious, no precious, not very nice at all :/

I mean, it could have been worse. They could have had quests that sent you back to a base zone, then you had to fish for a particular item (on RNG) and then go back, and thats all the quest would be.

Fishing is where they are going to start hiding some of the really good drops, you can guarantee it.

Lots of players these days wants everyting for free or fast without any effort, i call them lazy. Jewelry crafting isnt that hard, when ESO launched the other crafts were much harder then Jewelry crafting is now, the Psijic skill line isnt that hard compering to the mage guild line.

Maybe for the lazy players those skill lines will be added in the crown store someday, but for now you have to do something for it or ESO is just not the right game for you.

It's not about having to do something to level the skill line. It's about making the thing-to-do, tedious as can get. It is not fun. It sucks.

I mainly got this because of jewelry but I had hoped it would be more fun, less grind. Taking another year or three off. Will log only for jewelry stuff now.

It's not about free and fast. It's about not feeling like it is a tedious grind from hell. You literally have to grind dolmens to get jewelry to level it at all reasonably like other crafts because outside of that, they are not as common drops as EVERYTHING ELSE. I don't mind it not being instant. I've max crafts on most toons so I am used to it. But getting new traits is tedious or costly right now as they are only from certain places, which also means that getting those trait stones right now is extremely rare and costly. Wicked unbalanced way to put them into the system.

I have 100% all the zones they tell me to travel... as have many others... so no...

I'm on console and not got it yet, but yes majority of people getting summerset will be 100% complete on all overland in Tamriel, I always hoped that with summerset not only would we get new zone but would be nice to get some additional content for other zones so when we traverse it for the rifts we have more than just a very linear experience

The reason why this Psijic skill line is perceived to be way too grindy can be attributed to a couple of things: 1. the repetitveness of the quests, and 2. the actual need to grind it up on multiple characters.

As such, people really shouldn't be comparing the Psijic skill line grind to the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood skill lines. TG and DB leveling involves doing quests that are all varied and part of a big storyline; the Psijic skill line quests are all basically the same repetitve boring hunt.

Another thing is that the idea that people should take their time and enjoy it is simply just absurd. There is a reason people are grinding the Psijic skill line and complaining about it rather than the TG and DB skill lines: the Psijic skill line offers powerful abilities that provide more damage or more utility to their base-game counterparts, and even the big theorycrafters have already included Imbue Weapon in their builds. As a result, people are compelled to actually max out the skill line on multiple characters in order to remain viable, much like the Mages Guild grind for magicka DDs just so they can slot Inner Light.

I understand the inherent need for a grind, but since those Psijic abilities are ubiquitous for many builds, players actually have a valid reason to complain about it, and I agree with them; it is a mindlessly boring grind I'd rather not do, but I have to do so in order to stay at the top of the end-game raiding scene I'm in.

Why is there always at least one person to come on these threads and criticize another person who has a legitimate point. As others have said, I also have been through all the zones and multiple times. I've been in the game over 4 years. So to me the way you have to level the psijic order skill line is crazy tedious. It's nothing but a repetitive scavenger hunt just to unlock the skills, let alone level each one up.

What an outrageous point of view. Simply because you disagree with people who dislike the design of the psijic leveling (or anything else), does not mean you are superior or they are "lazy." I will speak for myself. Again, since I'm in the game over 4 years, I've pretty much done everything in all the zones. There are things I like and things I don't, but I've tried everything in the game. I've completed all the zones with multiple characters.

I don't mind going back to zones I've completed, but definitely do not like the repetitive scavenger hunt design of this new skill line. It's not a matter of it being hard or easy, it's a matter of boring, repetitive, dull to me. Others apparently don't find it boring, but others do and they are not wrong or "lazy" or inferior for feeling that way. To me, if each phase of it could be different from just scavenger hunting, I think that would have been a better approach.

Have to agree with OP: not fun. I have a bunch of leveled characters across multiple accounts, max CP on one account, another in the 400s, this one is somewhere above 160. Eight characters have a maxed horse, maybe more with maxed fighters guild; 4-5 have undaunted over nine, a similar number with full mages guild, maybe 3 with max legerdemain, etc... I can do the grind, and even enjoy it. I quit working on Psijiic at level 3 to wait for an add-on. The jewelry grind plus the psijiic grind plus the big ad every time I switch toons... Not fun.

The elder load screens online is what I am calling it lately. Log off character A to craft for character B. Go to Psijic quests that force me to literally do nothing but zone in and out for hours.

This game needs some serious gameplay improvements. Play your game for more than a few hours a day! You will see how much help it needs. Oh but crown crates are expertly built so no need to spend any more time there.

There are 10 psijic guild skill levels. To get from one level to the next involves completing a particular quest. IMO, 8 of the 10 leveling quests are very boring/monotonous, and, at times, trying to figure out where you are supposed to go is quite frustrating.
By way of comparison, you level the fighter's guild skill line by killing undead and deadra ... something you do anyway when doing many of the base game quests. If you aren't into questing and just want to grind it up, at least you're able to accomplish more than one thing - killing these mobs also levels up your character, increases your CP (if you have already reached level 50), and gives you drops.

There isn't anything 'fun' about leveling up the mage's guild skill line. That said, what makes leveling it 'less painful' than leveling up the psijic skill line are the add-ons that put icons on your map letting you know exactly where you need to go. ZOS scattered several copies of each Mage's Guild book in the same 'generalized area' making it easier for the player to find or get to one of the copies (you only get Mage's Guild credit for the first copy read). Also, each book you 'read' is added to your library (assuming you completed Cadwells) making it so you can open/read any book (previously found) whenever you want.

On a positive note, 2 of the 10 psijic guild leveling quests are not so bad (especially if done at night) ... they involve following little puff balls of light to find various 'dig spots.'

For jewel crafting it's no different to any other crafting profession really. Just seems like a grind with most of us already being well into CP and cleared the world. If you look at it like say woodworking, it's no different. They take time and effort to level. Just do it as you quest etc and it's not as bad as it seems. If you want to get it to 50 asap then it's going to be a grind fest.

I agree with the psijic skill line though. Why they didn't allow the quests to give you xp for the skill line, no-one knows. Having to travel the whole world to close rift after rift gets tedious very fast

Very correct with our new craft.

However, while the new guild quest line seems repetitive, it is more about interacting with that skull. His dialogue was well written and it seems is the main focus of the quests as far as enjoyment goes.

I find the quest very repetitious and lacking fun. Contrary to some opinions about the quest chain, I found no humor at all in the talking skull. Some things said are so void of humor its amazing anyone could praise the dialog, this being outside of the annoying voice work.

I cancelled my ESP plus. Between some of the poorly written quests in summerset and the underwhelming skill line of the Psijic Order I am just not feeling the "fun" of the mmo. Same with my GF. We talked in length tonight about the game and although I know my time is up with ESO, I think she is on her way out too.

The game costs too much for the return based on standards set by other MMORPG's like wow. It takes way to much money to get mounts, outfits and pets and when you couple that with poorly designed content, its simply not worth it imo.
