Psijic skill line is amazing! (Better acquisition than mages guild)

I just finished grinding Psijic order story to max out the skill line. 10 hours straight. No breaks and hardly any wayshrines discovered. I am a very visual person when it comes to gaming and it looks amazing! Skills are very useful too. Especially the healing one. My mag blade now feels less evil and more arcane. Grind wasn't the most fun except for the Augurs commentary (great job on voice acting right there! Anyone knows who is the voice actor?) but you can go through it in one day. Haven't tested in PvP yet as Cyrodiil is very empty at the moment.

What are your thoughts so far?

Seriously? It was very quick for me lol, couple hours of teleporting around. The acquisition was simple yet frustration free. Beats grinding like the other guilds require, hopefully ZoS keeps it like this in future.

the grind was accessible and possible to zerg through, but having to check the map every two seconds and port every five got pretty draining pretty fast.

    game got too disappointing.

Making the map quick slottable would be a huge improvement. I actually liked that there weren't map markers. Reminded me of the Morrowind days. Much more realistic.

Now I understand why Vanus Galerion quit the Psijic Order to make his own guild. Probably sick with running all over the places closing time breaches and digging fragments.

I played 3 hours and I haven't even unlocked it yet. Were you listening to the story or mowing through it? Does it go quicker towards the end? Or am I just missing something?

    - The skill leveling is extremely grindy. Just "go to x spot and press e". Nothing exciting, at least they could have spawned a handful of enemies or something at the rift, right now it's just a huge treasure map run - without any treasure.

    - The map should at least update when you close a rift. As of now, you're pretty much forced to do a rift map all in one go, or write down notes yourselves. I was doing the Summerset map late last night, and wanted to go to bed, but I realised I only had a couple rifts closed here and there, and I knew that if I abandoned it there, I wouldn't remember which ones I had closed or not the day after, and would probably run back to rifts I had already closed and get annoyed and frustrated. Closing a rift should at the very least have removed the red X on the map, such interactivity shouldn't have been too difficult to code.

Wow this sounds horrible. Maybe we need an add-on to manage the rifts on the map. Like skyshards and mage books.

One tip, get the lost treasure addon if you’re on PC. That puts the map on your screen so you can easily navigate towards to marked location. It really helps to speed up leveling the skill line.

Was it exciting? Not too much.
Was it an "omg this is so bad my precious time" grind? Definitly not. Undaunted>MG>Psijic, timewise. It can be done easily and fast. Especially on a new char I can imagine that you just do it with skyshards and lorebooks toghether. And you will be finished with Psijic first.

You follow the main Summerset quest until it sends you to Artaeum, then you have to pick up the Psijic quest from Loremaster Ceralus or something. It starts with visiting a delve to find the Augur, then a grand tour of locations in Summerset to close time rifts. You probably accidently continued with the main Summerset quest with Raz which I heard several people doing.

Once you complete that, then it is more scavenger hunts/tourism for the rest of Tamriel.

I really didn't feel like it took too long. But I had all of the ports available. I do kinda wish there was a little more interaction at the portal like some foreboding image or glimpse of that zones main story or enemies. Just something to hold interest.

Psijic is intended to get new players outside their starter zones and exploring the rest of Tamriel, which it does well.

Definitely a bit of grind if you play lots of characters but individually I don't think it so bad.

Hey cheers. I had a guildie also explain it to me this morning. Im up to lvl 3 now.

It's by far the fetchiest skill line we've seen thus far, I don't see me doing this twice unless I absolutely have to. At least the mages guild is only for Magicka characters, so half of my characters but 2 would only ever use Meteor. I'd like to have the Psijic skills on all my characters because I PvP with all of them, that's never going to happen though.

No action, no interesting questing, no utilizing your new skills to progress the quests.

Port, close portal *9, port back to Arteum. Repeat process ad nauseum.

Faster than grinding Mages and Fighters but at least the quests for those two had some substance to them.

Yeah, I can understand he'd prefer running all over the place finding hundreds of books and taking like ten times longer to do it... /s

Also, you can do Mages guild just playing and picking up stuff wen you are nearby anyway. With Psijic you kinda have to put some time aside or you might forget what rifts you´ve closed (I like to do one zone at a time). It is just... boring. Really, really boring. I don´t think the skull chatter is that good either, pretty good compared to other Summerset stuff but.. nah.

I didn't get a chance to test it out myself on PTS, but if it's something you can grind in a single day that doesn't sound so bad! Weren't Thieve's Guild and Dark Brotherhood all but capped for a day in terms of how quickly you can grind it? This sounds like an improvement over that kind of system, if it lets people decide their own pace.

Yeah, I didn't mean anything mean by it. I just am annoyed by all this, and the rare times I ask Where something is in zone or whatever I get told to watch some dudes stream or video to know where to go.

The augur is great, the grind isn't that bad--my only real complaint is the sheer number of loadscreens.

Unless you ride through each zone without porting, you end up with something like 15-20 loadscreens per psijic level/quest stage, so half your time is spent in loadscreens rather than actually playing.

That was an annoying part I agree. And a ton of gold spent on teleportation to shrines, since I was too lazy to run around the invisible walls half the time.

I do a lot of the "port to guild member" then use that wayshrine to port again to the target destination trick, but that adds even MORE loadscreens.
