Dagger drop rate for stam sets...abysmally low or standard for weapons?

Let me preface this by saying that I only play stamblades. I have 6 character -- all stamblades -- so I don't know much about other classes other than what I see and hear in group and guild chat.

As someone who exclusively plays stamblades, I'm always on the hunt for daggers. I'm sure that has some impact on my perception but it seems daggers for stam sets have a far, far lower drop rate than any other weapon. Purely anecdotal, of course, but here are some of my observations.

- I've probably done 100ish Craglorn trials (SO, AA, and HRC)...mainly normal but some vet. In those dozens and dozens of trials, I have yet to see a dagger drop for anyone. That's a lot of people running a lot of trials but never a dagger. I see "desirable" staves drop almost every trial; to the point where people can't give them away. But not a single TFS or VO dagger seems extremely odd. (no need to discuss whether those weapons are worthwhile...just the fact that I have yet to see one drop in dozens of trials.

- I recently started farming a Sunderflame set. In the last few days, I've run CoA 27 times. About half were solo and half were grouped so I estimate I've had about 430 chances for a Sunderflame dagger (6 bosses, 4 players for half, 1 player for half, + chests) and have yet to pull one. And I need TWO. I have, however, pull more Burning Spellweave staves than I can give away to group members. Now, I realize that 27 runs of a dungeon isn't that extreme but the fact that other weapon types are dropping regularly makes me think daggers are designed to have a lower drop rate.

Is it just bad RNG or are daggers intentionally given a lower drop rate? I get that the devs love staves (the nickname Elder Staves Online is well earned!) and that they drop like mad but what's the deal with daggers?

That's just bad RNG. I got a dagger of each of the good Craglorn sets (VO, TFS, and even Berserking Warrior before it was good) in about a month's worth of runs.

That's just good RNG. I've only ever seen two BSW destruction staves of any type (neither were inferno staves) in hundreds of runs.

In other words, RNG is pretty crazy in this game.

As someone who is rolling around in Moondancer daggers, it's completely rng and a dash of confirmation bias. Since daggers are desired, people aren't really going to hand those out like candy on Halloween. Our ape brains are hardwired to remember the negative, not the positive.

Everything has the same chance of dropping. I've been farming a bsw neck for weeks, while I have several complete sets of Sunder for my non-existent stamina characters. It's just pure, unfortunate luck.

    Bah...that's what I figured.

I guess I shouldn't be disappointed but should instead be encouraged. The fact that I need not one, but TWO is really frustrating.

Back to City of Ash I go...fortunately, it's easy to solo even for a stamblade.

I think your math is a bit off on number of chances; only chests and the last boss have a chance for a weapon other than specific named drops. I think that is just the general luck of weapon drops though.

Really? I’ve heard that but never noticed where they drop. I know I’ve gotten weapons from other bosses but maybe they were named ones?

Thanks! Now I wonder which bosses I can skip to go straight to the final. I think the door after the penultimate boss is disabled until you kill at least some of the others.

So I made the mistake of running the numbers. Assuming the boss can drop any set item, which it looks like he can, there is a 1 in 77 chance to get a dagger from the boss.

Considering I find a chest about 1 in every 5 runs, that's about a 1 in 61 chance to get a dagger solo. Divide by four for a full group and that's a 1 in 15 chance. I'm on run 38 but more of those have been solo than grouped.

The biggest detriment is the lack of chests. There are about 20 possible chests and I get one every 5 or so runs.

I quit. I'll just tell my vet trial group that I'm working on War Machine.

I haven't got a VO dagger myself yet. I've seen about 5 drip to other player. Imo the drop rate is too low
