Has anyone seen a recent update by Zenny on the current state of addressing cheating and exploiting in ESO, and what measures Zenny has been taken?
I havent seen a 'XX number of people were banned' - and yes Zenny does release those types of threads so please dont tell me 'Zenny doesnt discuss bans', they just dont mention names.

Just a heads up: They are releasing an expansion tomorrow. Everyone keeps complaining about the glitch, but right now, they are focused on keeping the game from crashing during implementation as few times as possible. They won't do anything for another week I would guess.

Hang on - they cant do 2 things at once?
Also, even if they cant do anything now, they could at least acknowledge the issue and put forward a later plan??

The last time there was an exploit like this, they:

1/ instantaneously released a thread with extensive details without naming and shaming of course
2/ the response from Zenny was stunning and breathtaking in its speed and severity (again, why only in this case?????)
3/ outlined exactly how many people got banned
4/ said they will 'be watching over the weekend' - like they were gonna sleep at the office or something (lol)
5/ and made a lot of other promises

When you then notice who was complaining the loudest it seems it was the same old self proclaimed personalities who have YouTube channels, build websites, go to ESO fanboi play events etc who generally feel a sense of entitlement because seemingly they have chosen ESO as a semi-career. (pro-tip, get a life guys)

They then proceeded to cheer-lead Zennies actions like little princesses, seemingly to 'protect their turf' and being 'world first' - yeah right, as if this is the Olympics.

I then commented at the time - will Zenny now consistently provide such a detailed explanation every time for every future exploit? or are you just pandering to a few kids who like to swear on YouTube to appear coolz? - no answer from Zenny as expected.

These guys don't care about the old skins anymore so neither does Zenny.

I'm ranting about this, because I'm not a fan of seemingly arbitrary behaviour and action by Zenny based on catering to the needs, complaints, whining or otherwise of people who are out to make a career of youtube or build videos whilst ignoring the rest of the playerbase, who likely actually pay way more in terms of crowns etc than the you-tubers ever will.

I dont have anything personally against the you-tubers, build websiters etc, and are genuinely very skilled players also, but they are simply embracing the 'teachers pet' and 'mommy's little brat' treatment that Zenny keeps giving them while typically ignoring the rest of the player base.

Generally ZOS only make announcements when it's a ban over a large a public exploit.

I've spoken with them in the past about doing running comments on bans for bots etc. but it wasn't something planned.

What is a public exploit ? as opposed to a private exploit?
    Whats the definition of large?
Has ZOS stated the above officially somewhere?

Sorry, but I still feel the swiftness of the vAS ban in November was directly proportional to WHO complained.
Also, the below statement says small number of players ???

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/380210/response-to-the-veteran-hard-mode-asylum-sanctorium-trial-exploit-nov-10/p1

"Recently, a small number of players discovered a way to kill Saint Olms + 2 (Hard mode in Veteran Asylum Sanctorium) from safely outside his room where he could not attack them. This is not only unintended and an exploit, but it cheapens the time and work put in by players who have legitimately beat this fight and earn a very difficult achievement and reward. As a result, we have permanently banned all players – 34 accounts in all – who used the exploit to complete the kill and earn the special achievement and skin in this way. We will not be considering overturns for these account bans. They are permanent and final.

We are working on a fix for this exploit, but we will not be able to deploy it until Monday at the earliest. We will be watching things closely over the weekend. After we deploy the fix on Monday, we will do another audit of kills for this fight. Be warned: we will permanently ban any additional players who use the exploit over the weekend."

Not sure I have the answers to help you on those ones, sorry.

I've spent four years trying to understand ZOS and their enforcement within the game. I've linked them examples of companies that do it better, told them areas where they did well but it's still inconsistent and confusing.

Main reason I've stayed out most of the exploit threads before this one is because I am tired of the same debates and repeated posts.

Skipped the entire post after the initial question. No, they cannot handle a smooth launch, so all resources must be poured into it. If today goes as they want, bans tomorrow. If it goes as they imagine, next week will be the soonest. It takes more than looking at who is beating the trial, it takes more than reading people's reports. They cant just ban people because they may have cheated, and that takes time they don't have right now.

This time the glitch is much more abused than last time.
This wouldn’t have been the case if ZoS had been bothered to handle it when they were informed about it starting, weeks ago.

Must be a bad feeling to put all that time into getting the achievement. Then you find out ppl are exploiting and ZoS doesn't do anything to fix it. Even if they ban these guys they'll just buy another account and be back at.

It wouldn't take a lot of time or resources to make a quick post confirming they they know about the issue and will be banning those that exploit it, in due course. The silence is the problem, it creates doubt, maybe so many people have abused it that Zeni don't want to ban them and lose all that revenue, who knows? I don't play on console but it sounds like it's been exploited massively over there; if it's as bad as they're saying, are Zeni really going to ban that many people?

So they would rather lose revenue than lose committed players that actually play the content the way it’s meant to be played.. If cloudrest is the same I won’t hesitate to come straight back to the forums and make sure I’m heard by devs and officials. It’s unacceptable that there is silence from devs and disheartening that they have allowed this to on the way it has... Shows a real lack of care for the players in the community who actually put the time and effort in to clearing the trials in the game legitimately...

Without wanting to repeat myself, look back at the previous vAS uproar last November and the stunning speed with which Zenny responded (even offering to camp in and monitor over the weekend lol) and then look at the earlier posters... I'll let you join the dots as to who Zenny panders to while ignoring the rest of us.

Time has past, the favoured 'personalities' dont care about this skin any more, so neither does Zenny...

Guys, you can give up now, you'll be waiting for a while until the 'right' players complain about this.

I'm guessing last time those players privately gave Zenny the hint they will quit the game and out of fear of losing youtube showponies, they did something I knew they coulld not consistently sustain.

Read the whole thread and you will shake your head - once the 'right players' were satisfied, Zenny lost interest in the thread.

One of those youtuber's posted a gif in that thread (while cheerleading the bans) from 'the office' of spraying a liquid all over a female's face seemingly as a euphemism for an 'excited occurence' - says a lot about some people - what are they 12 years old ? :/

But since everyone puts these people on a pedestal, that's what you get - if you really want, ask them to complain and then Zenny will surely (and sadly) react.

While I for the most part agree with you, the least they could do is post something like, "Hey were busy with launch but we will be looking in to this soon. Be aware, any and all people using the exploit will receive permanent bans so beware". It just feels like there will be to many players who've cheated in another week to reasonably expect zos to hurt their bottom line banning them all.

Exactly, banning 34 players isn't that big of a deal, banning hundreds or maybe thousands is something they absolutely don't want to do. Thousands might be an exaggeration but the reports from console players are concerning and the number is growing by the day.

So Zenny only applies TOS when it is convenient to do so? I dont think that is their stance??

They also said before, see above, "Be warned: we will permanently ban any additional players who use the exploit over the weekend.".
Any here would include a hundred, a thousand or ten thouseand wouldn't it ?

I certainly hope they'll ban those players and they should do if they stand by what they've said in the past, but that doesn't mean they actually will. This is a relatively old game now, most of the people exploiting have probably been playing for a long time and attracting new players like that isn't easy. I can't say one way or another what they'll do, I think it depends on the numbers and ultimately, money.

Uh huh, so if you "consider" something unfair or underhanded, you're not really able to define it in hard terms, are you? This makes it subjective. If it's subjective, then why is it cause for bans rather than rollbacks (in the case of loot from things) for example?

The same argument is used to censor people by "considering" something "offensive", regardless as to what it might be. Also subjective, also infinitely variable, how do you know what lines not to cross when no one has drawn any?
