Is it possible to change to the European megaserver while the NA one is down?
Thanks!

You can play on the EU Server however your characters and items wont be there. You also have to download the EU server separately... You do this by clicking the little circle in the top right corner of the launcher and clicking Europe instead of North America.

You don't have to download it all again, just copy your "The Elder Scrolls Online" folder and call it "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" - Then you can flip between either server using the circle in top right of the launcher.

But you have to have separate characters on each server.

I tried this and it didnt work. Then I renamed the folder instead and that didnt work. Had to download the entire game anew, and now - since I installed the EU client on top of the renamed folder with the NA client - when switching back I have to redownload the entire game a third time ...

Yeah, it doesn't work well. Seems bizarre they have done it like this but maybe there is a good reason. In beta when I swapped from NA to EU it was smooth, maybe an extra 400mb to download, swapping back didn't work, swapping back but patching to live did work. Seems a shame to have such similar clients but to need 90gb of free space and 60gb of space to allow you to play on both servers.

I had the same problem. But the client just doesn't recognize the game that is installed. Shouldn't there be a way to solve this without reinstalling the whole game..?

Yes there should. This is a poor way to handle switching servers.
