Chance at free things that cost you nothing but loading a stream. Where does the greed fit in here?

Guess you forgot that some internet plans only feature so much bandwith a month, as well as cell phones?
ArvenAldmeri wrote: »Once again, your greed wont stop to surprise me, Zenimax. This is just disgusting. Another of few epic looking senche mounts and we cant even BUY it. I am tired of those, really tired. I would be more than happy to give you 5k crown for that mount, whatever, but locking it AGAIN behind a chance?! I am out of words. I might just as well drop my 6 month subscription, get all the DLC I have with the crowns I have and stop supporting this **** alltogether. No more buying crazy expensive crowns neither subscribing anymore breaking my 4 year sub chain.
Puting the coolest mounts behind stupid RNG chance/buy more crate = more chance, needs to stop.
EDIT: This post is to talk about crate exclusive mount topic.

I couldn't have thought of a better "telling" response to an undying walls of words people write about this subject ever since the crates became a thing. No amount of words, however eloquently put, are going to change ZOS's business model IF ZOS profits from it and people buy the crowns. And apparently, the company does and people do.
Better to, I don't know, write a phd on the subject than whine on the forum because you can't spend hundreds on a mount because it's locked in crown crates. Whatever.
At this point most people know crates are gambling. At this point people know the chances of getting rare items in them are super rare. if people don't like it it's cool. What can they do? They can accept it and a) ostentatiously quit the game (and obligatory write a grand post on the forum about this); b) don't follow the model and don't buy crates, enjoying what they have; c) buy crates being fully aware they may get nothing they actually want.
Or, I don't know, there's always "the French Way" - a boycott and a strike at the same time. Establish GCU (Game Customers Union) and fight with the problem on a grand scale! o_0 lol
Untill there is just REALY cosmetic stuff in crates, I couldn't care less. If this is how ZOS wants to earn more money I'm ok with that, thats just fancy pixels, I don't like "anime" style mounts anyway. What I don't like is closing behind paywall functionalities that should be in the base game (like jewlery ctafting or retrait) - don't get me wrong, I have bought them but TBH, I think that everyone should have access to it.

I thought retraiting was base game, just not the JC?

...but little mention of Twitch. Without them, this wouldn't be happening, you know? They thought it was an interesting idea, too. They happily toss around monetization schemes to get people to watch more/tip/click ads/etc. Soooo......
edit: heck, I wonder if Twitch pitched the idea to ZoS instead of the other way around. Or at least some sort of "hey, want to do some money-making scheme with ESO streams? Partner with us!"
edit2: heck, I just went to Kotaku, and there was an ad banner from Twitch, advertising how signing up for Twitch Prime will get you CoD:WW2 loot crates!
Eh, whatever.

Not if you don't have unlimited bandwitch / monthly or cell phone service

But that's true for any online game/service. They're mostly not designed for/around someone using them on a roaming cell phone. That's life, and something you have to deal with on a personal level if you're in that situation.
(just like someone in the boonies on a 600ms latency line has to deal with it; someone who has to share the set-up-in-the-living-room computer with their 3 siblings has to deal with it; etc.)

Tbh its just biased towards people with less $ to spend on the internet which then turns people off to the game so yeah

Right, so everyone should get everything for free because some people have a less than ideal living situation than others.
No, video games, sports, movies, tv, all of that is a luxury. If someone has a living situation where luxuries are not something they can normally afford, then they budget appropriately to be able to participate in them.

Well i'm simply talking digital rewards not irl products, they could have easily gone with the date to date reward system like Blizzard does on Twitch instead of this stream bs.
Hallothiel wrote: »Right, am utterly going to show my lack of understanding but what the hell is the point of Twitch?
Why on earth would I waste my spare time watching someone else play when I could be playing myself? What am I missing here?
(Apart from a chance to poss get a raspberry ripple senche, obvs. But then play on console so.......meh)
Edit: so asked my teen gamer son about Twitch and his reply was a sarky 'because it's cool'. Which was all I needed to know. If he thinks it's pointless then that says a lot. Plus it's owned by the behemoth of Amazon. So multiple reasons to avoid.:)
So to summarize:
- I want/need this mount to enjoy the game.
* Get on twitch and hope you win one.- No seriously, I need this mount.
* No you don't.- But I really really like it and I want it, therefor I must have it, I must have it my way, and ZOS need to give me what I want when I want it and how I want it.
* That's reasonable.- I don't want a chance to win crate with a chance to win a mount I want a guaranteed mount.
* Kind of defeats the purpose of this whole promotion. They want you to keep visiting Twitch, promoting ESO content, and hopefully getting hooked.- I don't care about the promotion, I only care about the mount, and there should be alternative ways of getting this mount.
* Makes this promotion significantly less enticing if you can get the rewards without participating. I guess the multitude of other mounts for sale just aren't good enough?- Just put it up for sale, I will pay "insets any amount of money" for it.
* Better start buying that Twitch stuff:
"should you make any ESO purchase via the Games on Twitch store and have a linked ESO account, you'll receive a free Twitch Crate. This crate contains one fun ESO-themed Twitch emote (with eight available in total), an Ouroborus Twitch Chat Badge, and a single Welkynd Ouroboros Crown Crate."- All the best mounts are in crates, I don't buy crates.
* I don't' buy them either. Lucky for us, these are free!- Crates are gambling.
* Considering they're free, not sure what exactly you're gambling.- They aren't free because "insert reasons".
* Assuming you have the means to play ESO then you have the means to participate in this for no additional charge; aka for free.- I don't like it when ZOS promotes ESO in any way that results in potential profit for them. In fact I disapprove of them making any money beyond selling the base game.
* RIP ESO I guess.- I have no interest in watching Twitch streams.
* Leave it running in the background on low res and low volume or don't participate.- But that's is unfair to people running eso on a potato an older computer.
* ZOS can't be expected to hold back progress because of a few people's computer limitations.- It is also unfair to people who don't have enough bandwidth and/or internet speed.
* Whether you choose to have limited bandwidth/slow internet speed or cannot afford it, ZOS can't be expected to cater to everyone's limitations.- Players will have 1/1,000,000 chance at winning this mount.
* Source?- RNG rewards are bad.
* You're playing the wrong genre of games.- But I'm a console player.
* PC MASTER RACE. Sucks, but hopefully you'll get the option eventually, they said they're looking into it. I definitely don't' know what limitations, restrictions, or complications there are in-order to offer this for console players.
