If classes are being excluded from content at end game then the balance is off.. and should be fixed asap..

Honestly to level up a character to end game and find out you cannot join others to play all the content is wrong and broken.. That is what customers want fixed yesterday not to be told no ETA..

Its not rocket science. Make all classes viable through the whole game.

I’m pretty sure the classes are viable. I generally don’t like to blame players for these sorts of things, but in this case I feel like it’s the only real answer.

Silly misconceptions spread like wildfire on the forums and in guilds. “Player x does 5% less dps than player y during parses, therefore the entire class is not viable.”

“Using simulation software, we found class x does 10% less dps than class y, therefore class x is not viable.”

“Never mind the utility that a class can bring to a group that enhances the entire group’s effectiveness, dps and survivability, we focus strictly on simulated situations for pure dps calculations per character as a way of determining whether or not a class is ‘good’”.

Seriously, it’s silly. There will never be true class balance because the min/maxers will always find a way to tease out that little extra dps from a class over another without accounting for other variables like mechanics and group enhancing utilities.

The end of your post is where I take the most issue. I can definitely see where you are coming from in that some builds/classes in certain scenerios will always out perform others.

    BUT...

The overall dismissive statement of "never be true class balance" really doesn't do anything to address the issue.

Just because every class can't be exactly the same balance wise in every situation does not mean balance should be given up on. There are still huge gaps between classes in some roles vs others that have nothing to do with player skill, specific situations, or people upset about a 1% difference in performance.

Don't tell me my magicka and stamina wardens in DPS in PvE are only a small smidge of difference between my Nightblade DPSers and make up for that with extra super awesome utility that a NB can't offer.

Or my Templar tank brings more group synergy in different ways that make up for how much more tanky my DK is.

In the end, your statement would apply if they truly did have a balanced group of classes and the margins were minor where utility could show a lot of benefit vs what you give up. But as it stands now, some classes in some roles have a canyon sized difference in performance vs others.

The fact that the first test patch rolled out a bunch of classes chances, especially to make other classes more viable for support roles and they essentially only buffed DKs for healing and NBs for tanking and then made no other changes based on the huge amount of good feedback they got really shows they aren't keeping up. This is a major patch, the one big yearly patch where they actually make more money b/c it's an expansion, they should be working to get the huge gap between classes in certain situations shortened up.

Then, when we are in an area where your statement applies, they can start looking at the minor tweaks to see what they can do here and there three months down the road instead of making players wait possibly until the next patch, or patch after that or patch after that, to see a class actually be use-able. But as an end-game player, I can tell you as of now, there are HUGE difference for certain classes in some roles vs others and even some basic adjustments could at least make that difference smaller and a class more useful until further polishing. But instead they have chosen to leave it broken, acting as if they will have it fixed up perfect in the future - they won't. Further polishing will always be needed, just as the fixes right now are needed.

Greetings, we've removed several nonconstructive and baiting comments. This is a friendly reminder to keep comments on topic and avoid insults. If the thread continues to derail we may have to consider closing it. Thank you for your understanding.

Seriously, why do all the threads that need an answer get trolled by a moderator?

Is it that hard to get a community rep in here to answer a serious and legitimate question that most of the people here want answered?

We were promised class balance changes in the PTS, and that didn't happen. We were promised that the Class Reps system would impact the PTS, and that didn't happen.

When are we going to see these changes that were promised?

    Greetings,

The forum moderators are just that, forum moderators. Often we're not in a position to answer those questions because we simply do not have the information, or we know the generalities but not the specifics. It's also worth noting that the forum moderation team operates across all of Bethesda's forums, so while we keep apprised of the games we cover, there are a lot of them.

We are able to more actively assist with some support questions, and we post more frequently in this regard in the Customer Support section. Much of the information we provide is actually available on the help site.

    Thank you for your understanding,
    -Greg-

At least we have thread balance.
    Zaghigoth- Orc Stamplar
    Soul Razor- Altmer Magsorc
    Les Drago- Redguard Stamdk
    Eirius- Altmer Magdk
    Stormifeth- Altmer Magplar

Disclaimer: My comments are a little sarcasm mixed with truth. If you can't handle that don't respond to me.

so many broken things- and Zos is never going to fix them guys. the business model changed about a year and a half ago- from- "lets put out the best product and service we can- and maintain that " to - "we ve only got 3 more years of this- so lets maximise profits by pumping out costumes, crates and pve chapters" .. from pvp/pve to pve/lifestyle focused
. they have entire departments dedicated to itemisation and costumes and motifs and like half a person for combat balance. the whole class representatives thing was a diversion from PR to mask the fact that theyre not doing anything about it . this game had great potential to be not only the pve game that it is, the questing and social game that it is- but also a competitive game that people prepared, trained and organised for - dare i say- approaching an e-sport if not that , then at least an enjoyable competitive video game. but now? i mean i can't even take duel or 1 vs 1 in cyrodil seriously - class > gear > poisons, etc- trump skill in this game- and thats a fact. look at recent duelling and GvG tournaments- more than 1 warden is now being banned, as are entire swaths of sets. Zos hasn't a clue nor a inclination to fix this- and at the same time- they keep adding more and more CP, more broken sets- hurtling us to a unknown mess that is just designed to sell sell sell. and yeah we keep falling for it- cos we hope things will get better. suckers

You could play an unoptimized class like a sports star but it'd still be pointless if everyone who see's what you are drops you from team.. because "everyone knows" magplar is garbage etc.. or some other lackluster class..

Its got nothing to do with playing a class its got everything to do with peoples perception of it.. If you can't get parties at end game the balance is busted..

Here's the honest truth, there will never be class balance because everyone has a different opinion on what's balanced, and what isn't.

Honestly I think this game is the most balanced it has been yet (in the Summerset patch). Are there some things that I think are too strong or too weak? Yes.

However I wouldn't suggest any future tweaks that are drastic; only small incremental changes from now on.

Imo its better than post morrow, but the last year has been awful. Only 3/10 specs can openworld solo well enough.

Best was during homestead, where every class had OP, proctatos, maluplars, perms block DKs, pernashield persorcs. Even niches like blazeplars.

Every class could be competitive solo and it ended up being down to skill to deal with each style. Now it's pick fotm and win.
