Terrible support/Login issues

chrisshawrocksthecasbahb16_ESO
I LOVE THESE GUYS. So good.

So, I paid for Imperial Edition early access. Played fine first day for the most part, then I got an incorrect login info, and continued to have the same problem for the past two days, right?

So I'm initially told it had to do with gold farming, but then they switched it up to, 'oh you were spamming chat.'

COOL.

Well, here's the info from the ticket:

The action was taken as the result of same message being posted in /zone chat in a short period of time. Below is a copy of the exact messages. While we do understand that you do want an answer to your questions, please don't make it at the expense of other players.

The actual action taken against your account has been lifted. As soon as the servers are back up, you may log back in.

... so, I'm being penalized for six lines of text within the span of three minutes... IN BETA? Man, I seriously dropped the extra loot to pre-order/imperial edition, and you block my account for something that happened like, almost 4 months ago? REALLY?

WOWWW. Definitely not resubbing. This is ridiculous.

All I can say is that you shouldn't have been gold farming and spamming. It's common sense to wait a while before reposting, you didn't even give time for a reply. They could do what ffxi had and pretty much turn the npcs into video cameras. They be able to take control of them. In that way they can watch for behavior, gather proof and then warn/ban.
  • chrisshawrocksthecasbahb16_ESO
Gold farming? But I didn't gold farm, or 'spam' I asked one question 6 times within a 3 minute period, and somehow that warrants being blocked from a paid product MONTHS after the incident, even after OTHER beta sessions?

    no. sorry.

    There's no excuse.

As a normal user who never chat flood like that I'm glad they take actions against you, at least you will calm down next time
  • chrisshawrocksthecasbahb16_ESO
    Ahaha. I love it.
  • corsairseporthis_ESO
I will have to agree that they probably should have notified you a lot earlier about your transgressions.

You did spam, and their reaction is agreeable.

Except that it should have happened in January, and not in April. It almost seems as if their ticket backlog is extremely long, and that the GMs only just recently got to your case on Monday or something.
  • TheMoDiiFii3r
So they just caught up with your actions on January to just now?
OMG imagine how long they will to take to answer my problems that I posted today... oh well goodbye early access...
  • chrisshawrocksthecasbahb16_ESO
Yeah, because nobody in the history of MMO's has ever repeated teh same message in a public channel trying to get assistance. Spamming is often characterized as flooding a channel with the same message in a very short period of time, usually 30 seconds to a minute with about 5-20 lines of text. This is pretty far from it, and not that out of character for any MMO.

The amount of text doesn't matter. If you keep posting the same message every 30 seconds, be it 2 words or 15 lines, I'm going to report you. If you post without response 2 or 3 times, stop posting for about 15 minutes or so. I don't want to see "How do you refine basic mats?" over and over again...especially when you can click "help" for that answer.

It is a bit noobish to spam a question (or anything) over and over. Hope you learn from this, people would've reported you because you irritated them and they assumed you were being a *** (even if it was in innocence - just...don't do that).
  • azraels_grave
As others have stated, if you spam text over and over it is flooding. And agreed I would report you for the action as well. Just because you have the ability to do so, does not mean others have to deal with it. And I am happy ESO considered they did not have to deal with it as well. In the future ask a question, wait, then repost. Don't spam it.

Actually in the larger games try to post the same message over and over and see how far that gets you. It'll get you as far as it did in ESO. And even many of them have spam filters, Which would prevent you from even doing too many responses within a given period. Just because you are unable to control yourself, does not mean ESO must code specifically for you (and people like you). They did what they felt they must, and I am in agreement with the action. Spam the same text, then begone pest.

You might think you can characterize what you define as spamming. But others do not have to agree or even share your point of view. As ESO also does not. Remember it is their game, their right, you and I exist in it by their rules. And even so I consider how you did your text as spam, and others have, seems ESO has as well. In the future you might wish to wait a bit longer. And if you posted that text every 30 seconds in WoW for example you would be actioned the same. I have had friends actioned for very similar reasons. So you can't skirt the logic because its a new game.

    I have the same issue.

But I have no information, just banned for "Gold Spamming/Gold selling" That's all the Help guy could give me on the telephone.

    I don't use chat, I use vent.

I can't even seek a review, because I have no information what to review.

    Help is anything but helpful.

    no.

banning me without any notification after a 4 month period, and sever play tests, especially after I played the game is completely inexcusable.
  • chrisshawrocksthecasbahb16_ESO
Also, I dig how ZOS can edit my post, but have no response to this issue.

They even patched the whole thing I was asking the question on, so knew it was an issue.

Yep. I reported about 20+ gold sellers sooo you can pretty much say that this is what's happened to my account too...I'm HELPING ZOS remove gold seller problems by reporting them and I get banned for 3 days? I want some compensation for this.

Well, there you go. You won't listen to ESO and you won't listen to folks here who are trying to explain. Guess your only desire is to complain, but nothing here is unusual, except maybe the four months (not all that unusual for beta, though). You decided to not resub. You probably made the right decision for all concerned.

Shame though. Hope you change your mind.

Whoa! And I thought they were treating me badly... Now I don't feel so angry. They just seem to ignore me and not reply. But maybe that's a good thing.

ESO has given me three different answers, and decided to action on something so banal 4 months later, and also wasting my time/money.

Wow, why did they unlock your account after you spammed like that?
  • chrisshawrocksthecasbahb16_ESO
You guys seriously have a whacked definition of spam. Two lines of text a minute? For three whole minutes? SIX LINES OF TEXT, asking a question, and that warrants a ban? Lololoooooooo

There should be a warning on these forums when you make an account:
