Question for you healers out there

Made my very first Argonian, Templar healer a couple weeks ago and just started playing it. This is the first time ever in a game that I have played as a healer. Grouped up with some friends last night and went through a public dungeon to level up. I had a lot of fun with it.

My question is this, how do you best utilize a healer? I have some videos to watch as far how to build him up skill/points/gear wise, but what is a good play style for a healer? Do I join in on the fight and heal altogether making sure everyone stays alive, or should I be falling back a bit, staying away from the fight, only focusing on healing?

Priority is heal, buff, help dps for me. Position depends a lot on where everyone is. I have to constantly reposition to hit people with combat prayer. So its really dependent on what everyone else is doing. How difficult healing and buffing are is really dependent on how competent your group is. Some groups i can spend about half my time doing dps and some groups i am chasing people all over the instance trying to keep them alive. I recommend starting with base game normal dungeons. Fungal Grotto and Banished Cells are really easy to heal, and then work your way up to harder normal as you get comfortable and then into vet content repeating the same routine.

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it!

what gear/weapons are useful for healers? Currently I have a full set of light armor that I crafted as well as a resto staff on main bar, and I'll be using a destro (lightning) staff on the back bar once I have that available. This is based on what a friend of mine suggested.

Spell power cure is the primary set used. But for most content there are several healer options. I like the sanctuary set as well. But spell power Cure is considered a must have for the 5 set bonus for any end game content. You can get the set in White gold tower. Sanctuary is one of the easiest set to get. it drops in banished cells.

A lot of good points already, also use warhorn after the tank unless they give you the go ahead.

I currently use a mag recovery monster piece, but some may favor a critical, healing done or spell damage. After next update, you can run 5/5/2. First thing I want to try in PvE is Earthgore with the typical worm/SPC combo.

If you are leveling as a healer, a crafted set like Seduced or Julianos is a good start.

I think for learning the best is kagrenags hope 3 pc willpower and seducers, then again there are many healer sets about now, you can go destro resto but also double resto and leave the dps to so the job, especially at the beginning make sure you have 18/20k health till you have a decent amount of cp and you're comfortable with mecanichs, also a bit of advice you'll need a lot of patience at the beginning cause you'll be likely to get arrassed a lot by stupid people

Healers have literally only two jobs:

    1. Stop teammates from dying.
    2. Make teammates better at killing.

    That's it.

    I stand corrected.

    Healers have three jobs:

    1. Stop teammates from dying.
    2. Make teammates better at killing.
    3. Get frustrated with stupid teammates.

I thought about your questions, but the answer truly depends how you would like to enjoy the game. You will also enjoy game far long this way. So try things out and enjoy.
