How do you sell?

Been playing on and off since the beginning. I play this game as a TES game single player and don't know how to socialize. I keep reading people selling. I always thought it was selling to the NPC merchants. Now I am not so sure. So my question is, how do you sell?

I don't now nothing about the socializing aspect of the game. I am playing on Xbox One N/A server. I am also around level 30's so I am sure I don't really have nothing worth buying. I would like to learn something new so I am curious how would I go about selling now.

Also what do I sell to NPC merchants and what should I NOT sell to NPC merchants. I am basically selling them everything. Also when I steal things, I just sell everything except for recipes and weapon/armour buildable items. So what should I not be selling what I steal and launder instead? If I launder it, do I sell these to real people or keep them for myself?

I have been selling trophies and what not. I tried keeping them since they sound important, but I had no use for them and just taking up space. So I sell them now. Should I be keeping?

Also what should I keep and not sell. What should I sell and not keep?

    join a guild.

    or

    hit/z in the chat widow

type wts then link the item you want to sell and put a price on it.

trick is.... sell stuff people want to buy.

I recommend looking at the Lone Wolf Help guild as they would be very helpful for teaching you many aspects. I think they have an Xbox guild.

Thank you everyone. So you need to join a guild to do so then. So how does joining a guild store work? You just put in an item, ask for a price someone say yes and the trade is done automatically or do two people need to be present?

I almost exclusively play solo. I deconstruct almost everything for crafting mats and sell all ornate and other junk to merchants. I will also steal and fence items sometimes for gold. I am not in a guild and at the moment have no desire to join one. Currently I have around 450k gold.

TBH, at level 30 you probably don't have much that other players would buy.

With stolen items, I launder the crafting materials I get, use any recipes, and sell just about everything else.

As far as joining a trading guild, keep in mind that most, especially the ones in good locations, will charge a weekly fee, and you'll have to make enough to cover that. You can only have 30 listings at a time, and listing fees plus taxes take 8%, so you have to sell enough to cover that.

My advice until you reach CP 160 is to vendor or deconstruct everything you don't intend to use. By then, you'll start getting an idea of what pieces have value to others.

Maybe we should join a guild then. A guild for people who like to play single player. :P Not sure how it would work but maybe be a good place to give other people stuff they might not be able to get.

So that said, how could I start a guild. How do I go about seeing if others like to join a single player guild.

You need to join a guild with a trader. Guilds will often advertise, so you can answer an ad that looks good to you or just type in zone chat "Looking for a trading guild".

Guilds will often have different requirements. Pick guilds that suit you. Guilds have to make a weekly bid to keep their trader, so some may have a minimum sales requirement or raffle ticket purchase. I'm in 3 trading guilds. One has no requirments, one has a 1k sales requirement and the one with a good trader location has a 50k sales or 10k raffle tickets requirement, but I sell more than enough to meet the sales requirement. There are lots of trading guilds so don't be afraid to look for,one that fits you.

Once you are in the guild, you can access the guild store at any banker or your trader. Go to the Guild Store interface and you will see 3 options: Browse, Sell, and Listings.

Browse lets you peruse what's for sale at your guild store. Even if you lose your trader one week, you can still buy and sell to guildies.
Sell lets you set prices for up to 30 items. On the Sell page, you can set your price and list your item for sale in the guild store.
Listings lets you check your current items for sale. They'll expire if not sold in 30 days, retuening to you by mail or you can remove an item from sale.

People can peruse the items listed from the guild trader. If they buy your item, you will get the gold in your mail.

When you're under CP160, your best moneymakers trading-wise would be alchemy ingredients such as columbine, lady's smock and corn flower, and Nirncrux trait items (potent and fortified, which you can farm from Craglorn). Item sets and crafting materials below CP160 are less desired, so there's not much point to sell them to players.

You can farm gold without being in the trading scene. Some good methods are stealing and farming in an imperial-filled group dungeons (such as the one in Bangkorai and the Reapers March public dungeon), because imperials drop more gold than other humanoid NPCs. For thieving I would recommend big cities, especially ones in Vvardenfell, because NPCs can drop motif pages that sells well to other players when laundered.

For trading without a guild: you can write messages to main trading zones (Reapers March, Grahtwood, Stormhaven, Deshaan). Something like "WTS [potent nirncrux] for 15k/piece", but because this is tedious, you might limit yourself to sell only highly valuable items and max 3 at a single post.

A free tip: you should always keep legendary items (yellow). These include: Kuta, Tempering Alloy, Dreugh Wax, Rosin, Imperial Motif Book (and motif books) and Aetheric Ambrosia ingredients. They're always worth a small fortune.

And remember, don't take this game as a chore, just enjoy it.

You have quite a lot to sell, even if only on Lvl30ish, Take Fishing, each 100ish Fish gives, when you fillet the Fish, a perfect Roe, i dont know XBox prices, but on PC NA that is a easy 10k, Alchemy Mats(Flowers) drop not levelspecific and sell really good, Furniture and Motife Pages for Outfitter, you can steal/ farm/loot and some, like The Imperial Motife, can sell extremly well

Join 2 or 3 trading guilds. This will also help you move around to new areas where you have not yet found a wayshrine.
You can sell white level stuff to NPC traders if you want.

Once in a trading guild or 2, go to the bank and post stuff for sale to the guild there.

How have you been a member of these forums since 2014 and not know any of this? Did you join in PC and quit right away only to pick up the game again on xb?

To trade you can use trade chat click the item and link it to area chat then write WTS. You can look up prices at guild traders or ask zone chat for a price check. If you dont have text chat turned on and want to sell I highly recommend turning it on but I'm not sure how you can read this in the text chat and not know how to use it

I'm on xb na my gt is the same as my forum name add me as a friend if you really dont know what ur doing and I'll be more then happy to explain in more detail. I can also invite you to some guild traders that have great spots for fast sells.

Yes. This was my second MMO. First one was Guild Wars, but never got use to the MMO way of playing so quit. When ESO came out I tried it again since I love The Elder Scrolls. After my "free" month was gone I couldn't see my self paying $22 a month (Canadian taxes included) after paying more than $60 in the first place. Then when it became free to play on Xbox I tried it again. I played on and off but never got a hold of playing MMO.

Finally I wanted an Arena experience and I finally got use to playing ESO so played it as a single player experience. So being a social recluse, I don't know anything a bout the social aspects of this game.

I will try. Once my son gets hope, I will ask him how to do so. Again, I am also socially inept on the Xbox as well. My gamertag is HsojVvad.

If you just pick flowers wherever you go, you will eventually have a bunch that are worth a lot. For example, on PC a number of them are worth over 150g each. Save up half a stack and that's an easy 15K gold!

Then go to one of the main trading areas, and look in the guild stores to see what they are listed at. Then discount by something like 20% and offer them in zone chat. People are always shopping for them, and at a good discount someone should snap them up. You can mail them COD (for a small fee) and you don't even have to meet with the person. Or you can meet and do a face-to-face trade (take your time and make sure the deal is right before accepting).

If it works for you (you play regularly and sell enough that any requirements aren't a big deal), trading guilds are the way to go. They don't really require any socialization - just that you sell and provide income for the guild (the traders are expensive for the guild).

Agree about getting into a trade guild. I wouldn't play without one.

The main benefit of a trade guild is that you're selling 24/7 - you don't have to be online. Also trade guildies are a great source of market Intel. They can help with pricing and to make sure you don't toss something really valuable.

As others have said, plenty drops which isn't tied to level and will definitely sell. A couple of days I got a purple recipe from a backpack that I checked on the way to do a crafting survey- easy 60K right there. That's an extreme example - but there's plenty of ways to make gold just playing the game.

If you have a trade guild you just confirm a decent price and put it in a slot for sale. Easy enough.

You can also try out NirnAuctionHouse.

It essentially let's you sell thing to other people without being online at all times. Like a permanent "WTS" add that you can put up on their server and when someone "buys" it you can have the program COD it to the person automatically the next time you log on.

    • dropped potions of the resource you use the least
    • trophies (their acquisition is already saved so no need to hold onto them)

I would suggest instead of joining a trading guild join a social guild. You can put items in their store and sell to other guild members and there will not be a weekly fee. A social guild will usually have more players willing to help new players by answering questions, crafting gear or running content with them. You will have four guild slots open after joining a social guild so later on you can join a trade guild if you wish. If later you find out there is a particular aspect of the game you really like you can usually find a guild that concentrates on that part of the game.

As you are new to the game I would suggest take your time and enjoy as much of what the game offers as you can. For now probably the best way for you to make gold is pick up anything you can and when out and about kill every creature you come across. All those drops can add up over time.

Most important make sure you are having fun.

and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

That is so true. I wasn't having fun when it first came out. After life events, and what not, came back and I am having the most fun playing ESO ever, even if it's "wrong". Now I am thinking can I have more fun if I try the social part, so I was wondering if that is what selling is.

I see there is a guild section here, never saw or noticed it before. Will check it out there.

Also thanks again everyone. Greatly appreciate the help.

    Three methods.

    1. Ask for an invite to a Trading Guild in Zone chat. These guilds are the ones who secure a trader every week within a major Player hub like Mournhold, Wayrest, Rawl'kha etc. However they usually have 5k or 10k weekly dues members are required to pay in order to stay within the Guild. It's one of those, "You pay gold, to make gold" type deals. If you manage to sell a lot in their Trader then I suppose the weekly dues become chump change as many players in such guilds end up with millions.

    2. Attempt selling to your own Guild in the Guild Store via a Banker. Even if you're in a smaller social Guild you probably still have your own inner Guild Store, to which you can buy and sell between fellow members. However in this case your potential buyer population is much smaller and unless you're selling something players really want, and your other Guildmates are checking the store, you won't sell anything.

    3. Link your items in Zone chat and say "WTS", which means "Want to Sell". Players in your zone will see your linked items and if it's something they've been wanting, they'll either private message you asking how much, or give you their offer. This can be a toss up, as many newer players just start linking random and low quality items constantly thinking they'll sell, when really most of the buying playerbase are veterans looking for things like Crafting Motif pages, Master Crafting Writs worth at least 50+ Vouchers, Best in Slot Armor pieces or specific crafting materials. If you go this way, don't spam the chat with everything in your inventory or you'll most likely be cussed out for spamming.

Or you could be like me, and just don't. Play the game, and horde every gold coin you come across.
