Stage 1

I try to keep it at one, because I do not have veins popping out of my character... But when I am doing a dungeon I will go to level 4.

Stage 2

I stay at level 2 because of the ugliness factor in stages 3 and 4... I cannot stand to look at my character at stage 4. The ONLY time I go stage 4 is when I'm doing stealth quests, otherwise stage 2. Why stage 2- for the recovery passive.

Only 2 vamps at the moment, both Dunmers. Always stage 4

Stage 4 all the time - the sneak speed is great in PVP.

In PVE including VMA I don't bother changing stage because dunmer. Fire damage isn't really isn't that much of a problem.

My vampires are usually stage 4 (unless in fire heavy content, which is not that much). It's partly because of lazyness :P But in general I don't care for most of the passives but I don't want to be without the sneak passive and that one is only available in stage 4. If it was e.g. stage 2 instead of the recovery bonus, my vamps would stay stage 2 because it looks better.

As for the drawbacks, I just live with them. Don't stand in red and it's not too bad.

Stage 4

Ive completed all content i nthe game save for the two newest trials as a vampire. both dps and tank roles. used to speed run vdsa as a vampire tank.

pvp regularly as a stage 4 vamp.

I do have major problems against magdks.

so far, seems to be the biggest negative.

Once my light armor sorc vamp hit the CP, I invest a lot of points into health regen.
