Do you play with the ingame censor on or off?

Considering how the filter censors out absolutely everything that is considered as profanity, even if words to form them are in a sentence, making sentences all messy.

So I keep the filter on off. Makes it easy for everyone.

Off because I'm no offended by boo-boo words. If someone is being openly racist/homophobic/xenophobic/etc or expressing his hateful views against a certain demographic in any other way, I simply just report them.

I do like the fact that this setting exists though, I bet there are people who prefer to have it turned on and there's nothing wrong with that.

On, it's default setting on Console. No need to turn it on. Console folks are less potty mouth than you PC guys

Except when it XXXXs the ending of one word and the start of a another as it might have split letters that make an acronym of something that someone once might have decided to get offended about onetime just in case.

Oddly you can't say 'Dolmen Great'

Americans are fine with shooting each other in the face but saying the F-word is a crime? Shame on that country.

@ESO_Blash you have that one backward. saying the F-word cannot be prosecuted, according to the very first article in our Bill of Rights, part of our Constitution. shooting people in the face is a crime, and is suppressed by our government (albeit via a flawed system). but i suspect you knew that already :)

there are plenty enough reasons for criticizing my country (it's a hobby of mine!) without juxtaposing imaginary strawman lies.

i think both of our posts will be deleted or edited in a little over 4 hours, btw. i think we're not supposed to discuss this here.

back on topic, my new 5th reason for leaving the censor OFF is that if someone is being abrasive just for the sake of being abrasive, i would like to be able to easily identify that person for the sake of remembering to avoid them, rather than wondering if the censorship algorithm is overreacting again.

Off. While I do find some language offensive at times, I find it more irritating that the filter blocks words incorrectly.

    Seriously, why filter the following:
I **** g**** in the mail for your g**** preserves. <-- with filter
I put a grape in the mail for your grape preserves. <-- without filter

    this.

some of the words sensor blocks are just... ridiculous.

Off, because it is way too strict. If I talk in my native language with the guildies, it might clip a normal words. And even when I write something in english, the filter may eat away some of the text, for example: you can't write anything starting with the letter T after Thurvokun. (Thurvokun took a while to beat -> Thurvo *** ook a while to beat)

    And

Followup question: Should the forums have a similar censor, set to on by default, but allow us to turn it off?

i always turn it off. I've been playing mmo since I was 19, and adult enough to not be bothered by "bad words"

also no, i rather not see censorship. "bad words" are just that words. Only have power if you give it power.

Game is rated M, kids shouldn't really be on it and added bonus is the rating has no baring on interactions.

Off topic, I'm tired of parents letting kids under 13 play online games with out supervision. Then get upset due to how people act around the kid. I had an incident in ff11 where an adult topic game up in my guild, and a father cussed me out over it. Claiming his son was 7 and say the conversation. :/
