Ran Fungal Grotto II. We kill Spawn of Mephala. Two people write "tyfg" and leave the group. Seems they thought it was FG I
Almost the same happened a few times in CoH II after Mezeluth

I've seen this happen too. Also the silliest thing when this happens

Me too! I remember one time when it happened in Spindleclutch II, this real arsehole mid-CP DPS who kept harassing and trying to kick a low CP healer (while being carried by myself, I should add — he probably only did about 10-15k DPS) said “GG TYFG” when he thought the dungeon was over. He then said “ya I know, I’m not an idiot” when I informed him that the dungeon wasn’t in fact over. :D Sure, buddy...

Just had the bizarre experience of running a vet dungeon with a DK tank (wearing a full set of Ebon, I want to emphasize) who merely spammed 2H heavy attacks and occasionally fired off lava whip and hardened armour. No taunting of bosses whatsoever, no crowd control whatsoever. At first I thought, well, maybe the guy doesn't have a sword and shield equipped... but no, I noticed him weapon-swapping exactly once, and he did in fact have a sword and shield equipped! We finished the dungeon with few issues and no deaths, as I'm good at keeping myself alive and we had a great healer in the group, but... still. It's like the guy thought that wearing Ebon would automatically make him a tank. All I could think was that he'd either copied and pasted a build he found online without taking the time to understand it, or it was someone's kid playing on their parent's account. Either way, it was a bit of a head-scratcher.

What has been YOUR strangest dungeon experience?

I've come across some tanks (in PUGs) that didn't know they were supposed to taunt the boss.

I’ve come across that too, MANY times, but they’re usually not wearing obvious tanking gear. :D It blew my mind that someone went through the trouble to look up a tank build online, farmed for five pieces of Ebon, had a sword and shield equipped...then neglected to read up on the most important thing: how to tank. He got SUPER defensive when I asked him if he knew what a taunt was, so I imagine he’s had issues in other groups. :D

Soon after release, first dungeon I ever ran - Banished Cells. This was before scaling and before dungeon finder. Picked up three others that were hanging around the entrance. One was a high level character (don't remember how high - but recall, no scaling, and this is the lowest level dungeon of AD), and she would basically just follow the rest of us around and wait for us to start a fight, and then wham, bam, thank you ma'am! Everything was immediately dead! Each time I was like what the hell just happened? I didn't even know what she did, as I was just getting started in the game on my first character and had experience with very few skills.

This is funny, because I remember that long time ago I was talking to some newbie player about tips for the game, standing infront of BC. We were not in a party and chatting with normal speach /s while another one came by and asked us to help him. We made a party and this playstile you described (in particular running behind everyone, waiting for fight to start, then nuking) would definitively fit my high elf sorceress. But it could have also been someone else :D

Vet Spindleclutch 2. Sorc with staves was tanking.

Everytime he nearly died (after one smack by trashmobs) he ran off towards dungeon exit.

Is just a game, and stuff like this makes me laugh :p

I'm actually kind of annoyed that this person only reacted with smiles.

Honestly, if I saw someone smiling at me consistently, it would imply to me that they are okay with anything. So that would mean I'd go and pee on their feet or whatever.

I mean hell, they might even enjoy it.

Anyway, I have a story from last night: Crypt of Hearts, a 720 Healer is in our group and he does... Nothing, actually. Well he does something, but it consists of using the Escape Bolt and attracts everything ahead of us. At one point it was so bad that I had to try very hard to keep myself and my girlfriend alive (Our other DPS died and I had medium armor on).

We kicked him from the group, of course, but apparently it meant that we were noobs who can't appreciate a carry (At least I feel like that is what he was thinking).

If it were up to me, I would just kick any and all 720 CP players from dungeons. Yes, that will also include me in a few years, once I bother to grind myself up from 470 CP up to 720.

If it was a normal dungeon, maybe he thought he didn't need it tho ? I know when I first asked for advice on a beginner tanking build, the main consensus was that it wasn't required in normal dungeons. [I myself took it because I'm used to tanking in other games being a lot of aggro control, but I can see how someone could think it's not necessary]

Due to me pugging alot, since i am too shy to ask guildies and friends - lol - , i've come across quite the strangest things in dungeons...
I can't really come up with the strangest i guess but i have a few stories here

    Pledge day, vet Blessed crucible.
I go with my healer, like always. Okay so i am always mentally prepared for DDs or Tanks that don't do what they are supposed to do.
At first i didn't even noticed something was wrong. The usual "not enough damage" thing i thought...
Well in the middle of Trollking i dared to take a glance at one of the damage dealers...
This player seriously had a firestaff and light attacked 2 times and the next second spammed stampede with a two hander i stopped breathing for a second XDDD
I never votekick someone so i continued to watch her.
We couldn't do HM but it's okay. That player had me totally amazed and i couldn't stop staring at her X'DD

Leveling my SorcHealer with the help of random dungeons.
The tank was an arrogant ***, the whole time he wrote how good he was and he was so slow with walking and looting that i just burned the whole trash with help of the others in the next room because Mister-Tank was too busy being cool.
Of course he didn't liked that. Started yelling at all of us that the next time he will not help us and he will let us die.
HAHAH it was just spindleclutch 1 and it seemed like the other players also were tired of him and his ego

    Another Pledge day!
    Crypt of Hearts?
Packed with enthusiasm i queued, got into a group and everything was okay until i noticed that one DD didn't stopped healing me.
Nice, but WAIT A SECOND - i'm the HEALER-- okay good that's not good, right
Tbh i'm not sure if it was vet or normal but i just watched that player give their best to keep us alive.
    That's nice!
but - they just stole my job xD not nice
After we were done i quickly whispered them, explaining nicely what they did wrong.
me: "why are you using a resto staff?"
person: "i am healing you to keep you alive!!!"
damn.. that person seems offended... "you queued as a DD, if you want to heal you better queue as a healer and heal."
person: "you are right, my friends told me the same..maybe i should do that"
YES MAYBE YOU SHOULD QUEUE AS YOUR ROLE X'DD
I mean i am used to DDs queueing as support roles but support roles queueing as DD?? why waiting so long for healing what the heck :'D

Not sure if its the strangest experience ever, but I have been Feared through the wall multiple times in vCOH2 by the Chamber Guardian, third boss. You then are essentially stuck right next to the wall, on the outside of the crypt looking in, and can't really walk but can look in all directions, and rotate the toon.

Thankfully, traveling to a group member usually fixes it, but while outside there's some funky looking scenery to consider. Not to mention the fact that all attacks can still hit you through the wall, and any aggro will carry through it.
    Houshiki wrote: »
Most recent experience. vCoH2, the chamber guardian feared a group member into the wall. This isn't really all that rare or uncommon, but this time the boss feared the tank into the wall and then followed him in too. The rest of us still beat the boss, but we had to wait for the tank to die and the boss to come out.
@shadowofnarsil @Houshiki if you're lucky, you can actually get feared back out, as well.
Veteran dungeon, HM, no death, speed run with a pug. When it was over, I was like "Wait, what just happened?" B)
@Enemy-of-Coldharbour That moment where things are going a little too smooth and you quickly check to make sure you're actually set to Vet...

    In no particular order:
    • I once healed end boss of Vet Wayrest one completely blind. This was way back when I still first person'd, the darkness transition that takes place when the bats spawn and later die never left my character, so I could only barely see in my peripheral vision. Frontal was completely dark.
    • I've managed to get both Red and Blue curses at the same time in Vet Banished Cells II before, sometimes acquiring the second curse while falling back from the first one.
    • Had a bug once where daedroths continued to spawn after the boss was dead in vet Banished Cells II.
    • Have had a group member get knocked back into a rock in BC II. All they could do was spin in a circle, and eventually die to fire.
    • Have had Hiath disappear in last stage of vDSA, being visible (and damageable) by only certain group members.
    • Have gotten double, and sometimes triple spawns in Darkshade II (Spheres) and Elden II (shadows)
    • Have gotten knocked back into inaccessible areas of the map in vRoM. There is actually a corridor between the Trolls and the Xalnur with a door on either side. If you access the door at just the right time, they will knock you inside but you won't complete the transition. They will happily follow you, as well.
    • Standing near a certain pillar on last boss vAA when a mage lands will sometime grant the gift of flight, but not the gift of slowfall.
    • Did vAA on Christmas Eve, was still clearing trash on final boss when she announced "I cannot control my creations."
We looked up and she was still in her starting spot above with two axes already spawned. She eventually came down, but left the (three by that point) axes behind.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.
I am neither warm, nor fuzzy...
Probably has checkbox on Customer Service profile that say High Aggro, 99% immunity to BS

Maybe. The tank, though, was trying to keep aggro on the boss by running around it in circles and doing little damage.

Blackheart Haven, Atarus (ogrim boss) somehow charge right up onto a higher cliff and got stuck there. It cannot come back down nor can any one of us goes up there to hit it. And somehow our range attack cannot hit it at all either.
It ends up with both of us (the boss and us group) spamming AoE at each other. Needless to said, the fight take a long time and left both party pretty confused.

Facing a load screen of death in CoS, then respawning, dead (apparently) in the middle of the air in the beginning of the labyrinth where you get banished by the boss. Apparently my corpse was (also) back at the boss since people tried to resurrect me. Eventually they could, IIRC, and I got back and we finished it.

    It was... kind of surreal.
