Skip to 2:30:20 for your answer.

    Edit: fixed

Yeah they don't want people to be able to craft gold Jewelry items on day one...

Hey ZoS , who would have been able to to Gold items on day one anyway.
You really think that everybody can craft Gold items on all old existing craft systems ? that everybody is wearing Gold armors and weapons ?

What are your statistics or figures on that ?

No more than 20% (and in reality I think it's even less) can do VET Trials.
30/40% can only do Trials on normal mode and the rest just don't do them because they're too low, don't have the time etc.

The result of your system will be just like this:
    - 20% will be able to craft Gold Jewelry items in a month time because they have the time to farm Vet Trial / resources.
    - the rest will still be behind and won't even be able to craft green/blue Jewelry items before a long several month

When Summerset will hit live servers, it'll be a chaos, hundreds of people trying to farm the same Jewelry nodes.
So all the time calculated by people testing the new system on PTS will have to be multiply by 2 others factors:
    - people will have to discover where those nodes are
    - people will fight for them and will certainly spend hours to run aorund (just like in Craglorn, people farming for Potent Nirm)

I knew that the "ressources farming" process would be tricky.. but I never thought that ZoS would have put such a grindy process regarding all decon/refiement things.

10 timers harder and longer is definitly not acceptable, they SHOULD HAVE TOLD US ABOUT ALL THIS DURING THE SUMMERSET VIDEO INTRODUCTION !!!

But they decided to hide the truth.. knowing that many people would have not pre-ordered Summerset otherwise.

its not like we were unable to run 5-5-2 setups before?

its not like crafted sets are better then drop sets?

so why does it require 10x the amount of grind compared to EVERY other craft in the game.

this was a quality of life fix the player base has been asking for, and you finally decide to implement it behind the worst crafting grind in the history of ESO?!

are you serious, give us a response, explain to your players why its so bad. (incoming EA "pride and accomplishment" quote)

    @ZOS_JessicaFolsom
    @ZOS_RichLambert

Short answer? Limited supply on pts. Live has far more material and decon content that will be available via trade than pts where most people do not grind enough

They did it so nobody would max it out quick. I honestly believe that’s the only reason. I’m pretty sure I caught them saying it on one of their streams too. Something along the lines of wanting it to take months and months before we are able to max it.

this is differenct from the lvling, people are only mad about the upgrade grind

Don't understand all of the other crafting was a grind at the beginning so what did people expect

You don't understand that this is not like any of the other crafting professions. it takes 10x the upgrade mats to upgrade a piece as it does any other profession. Comparing it to the other professions is wrong.

So it takes a bit of a effort that's not a bad thing , if we could just smash it out it would get boring after awhile guess Zos wants us to put some effort so that it's around awhile , before we are moaning for the next trend

It's not "a bit of effort" it's much much more than that. Not sure how to link individual comments so I will copy and paste this post from another thread by @code65536

"Gold out 3 pieces of jewelry? That's insanity. You'll need 240 grains. At 5% chance of a grain per refinement, that's 4800 refinements, and at 10 raw mats per refinement, that's 48K raw mats, or 240 stacks of raw mats. Each node harvest yields an average of 3.85 raw mats (50% chance at 3, 50% chance at 4 plus 10% chance of double harvest from CP passive). That's nearly 12.5K nodes that need to be harvested.

How quickly you can harvest the nodes, though, is variable. It'll depend on the density of spawns, how many people are competing for them, whether you completely ignore and skip the other nodes you come across, etc.

If you harvest a node every 15s, that's 52 hours of non-stop harvesting. 104 hours if it's a node every half minute. 208 hours if it's a node per minute. Oh, and one week of a full-time job is 40 hours. Except that pays you, whereas here, you're paying ZOS for the jewelry crafting "feature"."

This is not "a bit of effort" its ZoS trying to get us to pick up another full time job.

To top off all this pain and suffering, here's another scenario to consider. Somewhere down the line any crafted jewelry from a particularly good set might get nerfed or even become useless. So now your out time and money (if you buy scrolls to be the "first") just to find out its all been wasted.

I will make a prediction that this will happen. Because somehow, some way, the new 5-5-2 setups will require nerfing from the cry that takes place in PvP (specifically). I'm sure some setups will become too OP in PvE as well.

I am beginning to think they are planning to monetize the time it takes to acquire the base materials. They might start selling items that increase the amount of materials obtained from each node, or items that spawn more nodes for specific players if they purchase them. Kind of like how the survey nodes are instanced to the individual players.

This the only thing I can think of why they would make it take months to upgrade accessories. It’s something around only 2% difference between epic and legendary stat wise on the accessories. So, a month plus every day grind to just get that extra 2% or so does not make any sense, unless they have other future plans. So many signs are point to the game moving to a free to play model; they might as well just come out and say it.

Once you read this, it really puts the whole Jewelry Crafting farce into perspective. About the only thing that I’ll be doing is research and transmutation. At least until someone at ZOS recovers their sanity.
