Quest: Unearthing the Past completely broken...

This is the quest at the Breton Graveyard on Betnyk. It requires you to power the staff of Arkay by gathering "6 motes". The motes are supposed to be produced when you kill Bloodthorn Cultists at / near summoning circles. But the Cultists almost never respawn. And even when they do - killing them produces 0 (as in Zero!) motes.

Now this is understandable. The place is crawling with players desperately attempting to complete the quest so they can be done. But you can't just relog and hope for another instance. They all seem to be full. So the bottom line is that your glorious "Mega Server" is FUBAR.

And my question would be what are you doing about it? (Besides nothing...) Oh and I would report this via other channels. But in general Support is so hammered at this point its pretty pointless... Way to go ZOS.

This quest it working, you have to wait for the Cultists to complete the ritual, then kill them. You need to have a disguise so they don't attack you, you can just wait next to them until the ritual is complete.

However this is nearly impossible as there's a ton of people running around randomly killing everything in sight. No one waits for the ritual to complete before slashing them apart.

Rather than being broken, it's a poorly thought-out quest.

correction: wait in a spot with NO blue circle and a few dead bodies, with your disguise on. When a cultist appears you can kill straight away and collect motes.

Just finished the quest by doing this, don't wait on a blue circle.

By the way: the motes float in the air, you have to grab them with the E key. They are not drops from bodies.

Thanks for the suggestions Moobs. I agree that the quest wasn't well thought out. But at the time I wrote this it was taking far too long for the Cultists to even spawn. They made some changes during the mid-day downtime. And I was then able to complete it. Still I hope that your suggestions help others.
