it doesn't sound like a trade. doesn't sound like any goods or services were exchanged. it sounds like an attempt to acquire an achievement in a manner contrary to what the developers intended, which is how exploits are defined. but you're fine since it didn't work.

Apparently pay to win is perfectly fine, if the op is the one doing it. However if anyone else might possibly acquire something that makes finishing an activity easier, it is clearly pay to win.
The op's thread about the "pay to win" time warp scrolls for crafting research never did explain what everyone who has a 9 trait crafter "won". https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/399088/it-will-always-be-items-worse-than-what-you-can-craft-2/p1
Pay in vouchers or crowns to shorten research time, or bribe someone to let themselves be killed by a player who has to pay them to play dead.... which one is pay to win? Hint; neither one of my 9 trait crafters has found themselves crowned emperor yet, or gotten maelstrom weapons in the mail, or any monster helms or shoulders....

It's really not clever.
