Yep Moondancer and Necro are good for the heavy attack pet sorc.

Just because you've brought it up, why Moodancer? Obviously the 5% extra damage but is there a specific reason moondancer is the prevailing set choice ? (I don't mean to put you on the spot, I just have a bit of difficulty working these things out, i'm in the middle of experimenting with Necro haha!)

Pets scale primarially off your magicka, and Necro gives a ton of magicka, so you want to use that.

Moondancer you run as a 4 piece on your front bar (3 jewellery 1 staff)
Moondancer over any other set, because it has two max magicka bonuses and minor slayer, which is a 5% damage amp

In terms of value, Moondancer is just the most efficient 4 pieces that you can run.

5 PC necro, 3 moondancer, 2 ilambris is basically a guaranteed 30k dps with an adequate rotation which is enough for any endgame content. If you can't get moondancer you can switch it out for willpower and still get very close.

You can also switch ilambris for maw of the infernal if you want more of a 'fun' build.

What you want less than in other magicka builds is spell power, because it doesn't affect pet damage. So, for example, the 5-piece bonus from Julianos isn't as strong as it looks.

Petsorcs vary. Mine uses just the matriarch for heals and runs dual destro staves. I want high mag for my shield and pet heal but I also do want high spell damage because I don't run a damage pet and have to do my own damage. Therefore, Necro and Julianos are a perfect fit for me. A bonus of that setup is how easy it is to put together (no farming for me!).

Though I would consider this sorc a dps, she packs +20K shielding and a 10K burst heal. I gladly surrender a bit of dps to have the flexibility that this setup gives me. She is as comfortable soloing a WB as she is as part of a dungeon group. When she does run dungeons it is more often as a duo than a foursome and a classic pure dps (or pure healer or pure tank) is not as relevant for duos.
