Sometimes DPS players will kick the tank as they blame them because they are squishy and have no self heal.
Tanking is pretty fun but can be annoying at times. There are plenty of builds out there if you choose to follow those ones or you can make a build of your own. Class also does play a pretty important role. It is much easier to tank as a Dragonknight compared to a Nightblade. I saw a really cool Warden tank and DPS build a while back on YouTube which did not even use 64 Health points if I remember quickly. The guy took all the heat and took like no damage at all in Veteran dungeons.

There's 2 taunts in the game. One from Sword n Shield line (the very first one), the other from the Undaunted line. It doesn't matter what your class is.
IndianaGeoff wrote: »I had a similar idea of being a tank. But I learned that Templar's just don't have the taunt tools others have. And when I started doing the group dungeons, I realized that the Tank needs to be the most experienced person in the group. He is the leader. Healers just have to keep everyone alive and hand out buffs. DPS, burn. Yes, you need to know what to burn and when to use AOE's vs Single Target burn, but pretty basic.
Tanks manage the whole fight. Who to taunt, where to park them and facing what direction. When to gather adds, when to let them go and DPS handle them. All this takes extensive dungeon experience.
I would step back, and play healer and DPS until you learn the dungeons. Even then, you should stick with the "old" ones (non DLC). You are getting kicked because you don't know the job. There is nothing wrong with being ignorant if you are new to all this. Just realize it and learn the job. When you know the job, then give it another shot.

There are 4 taunts.
1. Puncture from One Hand and Shield.
2. Inner fire from Undaunted
3. Ice Staff Heavy Attack with the Tri-Focus passive
4. Tormentor set, 5 piece, procs on a charge ability.

Technically yes, but do you expect someone that hasn't figured out 1 and 2 yet to know about 3 or 4? K.I.S.S. Let's get these new tanks walking before running. The OP just "learned" a taunt so either he's not using sword n shield or just got to rank 3 in Undaunted, and the guy I quoted thinks classes have taunts. Evidently we need to start with the basics.

I appreciate your intention, but I see far too many DPS and healers accidentally taunting with ice staffs because they didn't read the Tri-Focus passive to be okay with letting someone have the false impression that there are only two taunts in the game.
A better version would be "There are two useful taunts in the game" since ice staff is only situationally useful on certain builds and Tormentor is rarely used.

Also the reason I'll still, flat out, say that "ice staves should not be used under any circumstances" when asked, even though it's not entirely true, and I even keep a few oddball ice staves in my bank.

Yep, worst thing they did to ice staves was attempt to make them a tanking weapon.

A tank getting kicked is almost always tanks fault. Only exception is when tank want to kick trash DD and get kicked by nubs. Tank take forever to find, groups now tend to suck up with a not even mediocre tank.
IndianaGeoff wrote: »They guy you quoted said "taunt tools" things like chains that can pull mobs to you and class based damage shields. Yes, everyone has access to the SnS and Undaunted taunt. But all classes do not have they number of tools the best tankers have and it is unreasonable to expect a new tank (esp one that is kicked often) to have the gearing to work around it. Tanking is about more than throwing out the occasional single target taunt.

But 4 out of 5 dungeons I try, I get voted out. I tried going as just a damage type with no luck. No takers. I was wondering if anyone wants to try it out with me as a tank and no giving up till we win. My user @richie1961. Hit me up
