Maintenance for the week of April 13:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 13

ZOS please, change daily reset for horses and hirelings to avoid unnecessary re-logging to servers.

Looks like there are really people who agree, however the important thing is: this was worth discussing!

I play early in the morning, Login on 8 characters to do writs. During that time the emails arrive, so no prob there. Once I have done the writs and updated inventory, banked surveys and master writs(if any)my explorer picks up the surveys and does them. My crafter picks up the masters and does them then 3 characters do Undaunted delves and Mages guild dailies. OK, my explorer and my crafter are 2 of these 3. Logout, and in the afternoon, login and quest for a couple of hours then logout till evening when I play for real.

I accept that the horse training was ready hours before I login in the morning, but since I have to login on all characters to do the writs, I can feed the horses at the same time. By the time I have logged in in the evening, at least 12 hours have passed, so the second batch of emails pop up then. (If they do; they don't always, but that's a discussion for another time and topic.)

I accept I am privileged to be retired and have lots of time to play like this, but a friend logs in early like me, does the writs and feeds the horses, then does the rest in the evening. I feel that the system works as is.

I have several discussions in my history here, and one of them HELPED change the 24 horse timer to 20!

So! ZOS listens and does thing, when people support this. If everyone is happy as it is, I am fine. But, this is my opinion, and from the other thread long ago - you can see that more people write the same (and many of the viewers of the thread DO think and feel exactly the same - just considering the flame-war they have to enter, prefer to not write it and I completely understand that!) But remember people, there are staff who reads this and even if they don't get involved - pull chains and makes things happen! Enjoy! :) The game is awesome!

I'm sorry, are you claiming that the thread you linked made ZOS change the horse timer from 24h to 20h?

I didn't start the game off with a horse, as they have always been useless to me in TES games, but I bought my first horse about 2 months after launch and as far as I can tell, the timer has always been 20h from at least that time on.

I am claiming it :) but maybe me and all the people from the old thread are wrong... just nice to have it all there as a proof!

They should just remove mount training time, so if you have the gold you can have a fully upgraded mount immediately. It's 2018, and ZOS should have better ways to make money than trying to sell mount upgrades via the Crown Store.

If you check post #15 in the link you posted and a few further down, you will see that horse-training was ALREADY 20 hours! It didn't change, and neither did anything else vis a vis the timers.

Sure! First: let them decide! That is why I bother to write this on the forums.

I think they have, and they've decided that network traffic/server load isn't a big concern. At least, judging by this announcement:

I wish I could just pay the stable master in advance so I didn't have to log in every toon every day.

3 points in hirelings on multiple characters is a disaster in this game. Should be just log in once a day for double mats not every 12 hours

I think the whole point is NOT to reduce the amount of times you have to log in. Why would they give you a perk requiring extra work and then turn around and say "Well, actually lets make it so they don't have to do extra work."

Personally I just put two points in my hirelings. I log in right around the time the writs change, feed the horses, do the writs, check my mail, and deposit stuff in the bank or sell to guild trader. 30 minutes a day and I'm done. Then if I have a block of time I play the game.

I agree with Zos on this point that just getting free stuff including gold mats TWICE a day just for logging in should require a bit of work on the player's part.

Yeah, agree: but.... going outside will never give feedback to developers and improve this game. See, here I only try to help, while being bashed and advised, criticised ... etc. ... I am trying to help! Gandaaalf anyone?
I get what you're trying to do, but you don't seem to understand the underlying issue, instead pulling out the "I'm a victim" shield (which is pathetic).

Asking for phone apps or simpler ways to manage training/mail is just asking to circumvent having to log onto a character, regardless how many you have, and manage the microsystems.

Aka: get the rewards without doing the work.

That's what you're asking, and not too many people are going to stand behind this.

Log in, feed your horse, collect your mail, and repeat this for every character.

Oh, and just an FYI: the game caches your character information to reduce the server requests.

How do you think the game knows where your location is before you logged in with the character?

So please stop trying to defend your request behind "it saves the server".

do crap like that is useless, especially when i do it every morning for my 15 players, i crash to the dash board 2-4 times, what a total waste of time, were only on this earth for 70-80 years why take 10% of it away doing something that can easily be done another way. eg always d/l to that player and accumulated until you actually open it

Second: to all concerned about my life, health etc. :) thank you! I am really going out because I usually don't play 24x7 which is exactly why I won't bother will I login tonight or not ... so ... Have a nice afternoon! :)

What we read from your posts: hi, im lazy and want you to recode your game so i dont have to login and play it all the time. and i still want you to give me the benefits as if i did. kkthxbye!

I wish we could just pay up front to max our horses. I am not really sure what it adds to the game. I could understand it if mount speed was tied to certain player levels, like if your horse gets faster at 10, 20, 30, etc and you had to pay to increase it... but taking two months just to max out a horse's speed is the worst part of rolling alts. I guess it helps crown riding sales though, lol.

Anyway, I've literally never had an issue syncing up mount increases to when I do writs.

Menial tasks like mount training and hireling mails shouldn't require a login at all.

We need a companion app to let us do this offline. Other games already let us do this and more.

The funny thing about the idea of reducing server load is that the character login process already does that.

When you're already logged in, there is network traffic being generated for every character, NPC, monster, and critter that moves across your screen. Traffic is generated for zone chat, guild chat, whispers. Traffic is generated for events, NPC chatter, notifications, and numerous other things.

While your logging in, none of these things have to updated yet. (You have a load screen specifically so you can't see the world as it renders and position updates, etc don't need to happen until the world is "done."

So during these times, there is less traffic and server processing taking place than there is when you're just standing around idly.

Delays in things like accessing various UI's (crafting, inventory, etc), however minor, are there specifically to reduce overall server load. The GCD, beyond its purpose in combat, is there to reduce server load.

Your suggestion won't change that, it simply redirects it in a different fashion.

Again, it's an unneeded change. It takes minutes to cycle through your characters.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...
