Those who know me are aware, I have built an altar in memory of 1.6 :D It was really the most fun patch pvp wise. Short time to kill, punishment for mistakes, but also strong defense. PvP got worse and worse after that.

I guess it was before the One Tamriel Chamge, where I could level up a new kind of level beyond the level 50 Cap. But this Champion System is good as well.

And I feel like the community wasn't as terrible back then, there were still vestiges of hope around, which made me feel like the game isn't so bad. Now post-Morrowind, I feel like it is poison-city up in this grill.

    Ikr? Community was way better.

I remember the day one tamriel released. One person was asking help in zone chat for a world boss. I told him "why don't you solo it?" Then realized world bosses were buffed. They used to have few hundred thousand hps.

Lol, what? Rushed content that breaks everything in game before, where PvP and endgame PvE is filled with lag and disconnects? Not to mention how imbalanced the game is and the addition of carry sets like Zaan and Earthgore? Hell no. 1.6/1.7 were the best.

Launch because it was new and there was so much fresh content. I still love it now, but now I have to wait for new DLC or repeat stuff. I also liked it pre-busy work like crafting writs and daily pledges that make me feel like I'm neglecting to do stuff. And before there were so many mats, though I love that I can have 60 in everything now in horseriding.

Then again, I only bought 3 months of sub after the initial included month because I had finished the content by 4 months and there was no point for me to continue subbing until new content was released. I didn't even consider returning to the game until it went B2P. I was done with it just like any single player RPG that I had finished. Having a regular cadence of narrative DLC drops is definitely a big boost to my enjoyment.

Back when MagSorc was good and stamina builds wasn't so overpowering as they are now. I'm starting to drift back towards Skyrim. Where I can actually be a mage that has power. Hopeful there will be a MMO that will release with a decent sorcerer playstyle. But at least I no longer hold my breath.

Sorc atm is all glass without the cannon. And stamina tank builds are all cannon without the glass and all of the mobility. Such a shame really. I am starting to feel like Summerset will be my last purchase here in ESO. Should the situation not improve for my beloved magSorc. I have every class and playstyle geared and still none interests me as much as magsorc.

    Until the first DLCs arrived.

I really hate that ESO doesn't release proper exapnsions. What I hate more is that they don't continue the storyline of the base game or at the very least start another main one.
The story started out with this fight against Molag Bal and the Alliance War that guided you through each zone with its own overall story arc. Not all we get is the zone story. No epic main storyline and the alliance war is completely forgotten.
I know the latter died with One Tamriel and that is fine. However, starting another or continuing the main story could have once again stressed the importance of working together when not in Cyrodiil. Many other MMOs keep it like that (The Secret World, Star Wars ...).
I know they drop hints here and there but its been years. How about finally offering a main story again with characters that you go on this journey with? You know, how the base game did it?

Not sure if I'd be considered a veteran, I began playing at Tamriel Unlimited's launch as I wasn't able to pay the subscription fee when it launched (plus, the game wasn't quite where I had hoped it'd be when they announced it). That being said, I honestly think the game has only gotten better and better since Tamriel Unlimited, I'd say it's at its best state right now. I know some will disagree with me but I genuinely think that Tamriel Unlimited and One Tamriel were the two best things ZOS did for this game. This game went from being a potentially 5-6 year game (in terms of being popular) to potentially being 10+ years of popularity. Not only have they continued to turn ESO into more of an Elder Scrolls game, they've also listened to constructive criticism (while ignoring the whining) in ways I've never seen in an MMO dev.. and I've played quite a few of them. Plus, the buy-to-play business model is, hands down, the best business model for any MMORPG. Guild Wars 2 was amazing when it was buy-to-play (though it's still good; I just had better memories before the base game went free). It's inclusive but also keeps out the children and bots, giving people who can't afford $15/month a great game without pay-to-win bull.

    Something like 1.5 > 1.6 > Morrowind and after.

There are a lot of differences between those, some I liked and some I didn't. What I am missing the most now are the resource management contests of 1.5 and the powerful, responsive active defensive tools of 1.6.
In contrast, now you can only really run a skilled player out of resources if they let you, while defensive tools are heavily penalized in cost and flat out ignored by many offensive skills.

There was a period of time right before the console launch where the game seemed to be the most stable and balanced in most aspects. I do kinda miss the challenge Doshia and Mannimarco, as well as Molag Bal presented in those early days. And the veteran zones, where you were sent to other alliances after completing the main quest, were also more challenging. Shame they were so scarcely populated.

While I like that the world is opened up to everyone now it also has eliminated any and all challenge from the overworld content save for world bosses. Basically, in some ways I'm nostalgic about the early days when there were some challenges in the main quests and overworld. Lyris Doppleganger used to be a nightmare. Pretty much anytime one of those snake lady daedra were present I felt my stomach turn. Now they all feel ridiculously easy. Same with dolmens. I feel like they used to be events you actually needed other players to accomplish. Not sure how much of this is my skill as a player increasing with time and how much of it might just be how much they've nerfed them.

I'd say around One Tamriel the game was most balanced with PvP and PvE. After Morrowind, the game really took a nosedive with class balance, DKs got crapped on and sustain builds nerfed to hell.
