This is the official feedback thread for the improvements to Cyrodiil. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
  • Did you test out the new Keep Contribution System? If so, what was your criteria and results?
  • Did you try the new Conquest quests?
    • If so, did you have a favorite?
    • Did you get rewards from the Conquest quests?
    • Did you understand how to get the Gladiator Mask?

    So I want to forward this by saying I'm a pretty average PvP'r. I wouldn't say I'm bad, but I'm not the best either. I tested all combat with 1 other person in my group as that was all I could find online at the time and we went up against 2 enemy players who were on as well.

    Conquest quests:
    • Thought they were good overall. I started the 9 resource one (and got 5/9 before I had to leave) and felt it was a good middle ground between being to many resources to get that it would be a pain to do and to few resources that it would be considered a joke and not challenging.
    • Getting the Gladiators Mask was simple and straight forward. Complete Conquest quests for the sack with a once a day guaranteed Gladiator's Proof. I may have cheated and used two template characters to get all the proofs but I understood how to get them through game play, and feel the average player would as well. The mask looks awesome by the way. Might be my favorite hat in the game (tied with the wizard hat)
    Attacking a level 5 resource: (Note: I'm 75% sure they were level 5 resources, but not 100% positive)
    • For a group of two average players it was a real challenge to take the resource. I kinda liked it because when we managed to take one it was very rewarding but not for the faint of heart. Both of us felt it was perfectly balanced for a group of 3-4 decent players.

    That's all I got. As I test more I'll try to update this.

    So if resources are that hard on max level, where will solo players camp in the future?

    @Checkmath , I'm not sure. Maybe they want solo players to hang out by the daily quest hubs or in IC while Cyrodiil is focused on group play? Also theoretically if someone was playing alone and hanging out by a friendly resource the higher level guards could even the playing field between them and ab opposing small group.

    But I'm just speculating, as I said I'm by no means an expert just your average guy.

    I was about to try out some stuff, but some genius guy kept killing me while I was testing - not wasting my time with horse simulatior on pts...

    Maybe there should be a checkbox which tells ppl upon joining to not just kill everyone they see and maybe kindly let them test some stuff.

    ADD campaign loyalty incentives. Give players something to regulate the faction swapping. Looking at live right now on NA PC vivec, You should be able to compare the last campaign and current campaign heat maps. There is no reason why this should be happening in a game you have total control over.

    Please decrease the time between ticks to 15 min. Same should be true for underdog and underpop bonus or the changes wont mean much.

    Opportunities for me to test AvA changes have been extremely limited due to the low number of players in the campaign. I did not get the chance to defend a keep.

    Did you try the new Conquest quests?

    I completed "Capture Any 9 Resources"

    If so, did you have a favorite?
    On live I think the “Kill 40 Enemy Players”, “Capture Any 3 Keeps” and “Capture Any 9 Resources” will be easy to achieve in an evening's play, but the “Capture All 3 Towns” looks very iffy.

    Did you get rewards from the Conquest quests?
    I received the Gladiator's Rucksack and a Midyear Mayhem boon box. The rucksack contained a gladiator's proof and a waxed jeweller's parcel (20 Platinum Dust).

    Did you understand how to get the Gladiator Mask?
    Yes. I used the gladiator's proof I received to create the rune box and then equipped the helm. It all worked OK and the procedure was easy to follow.

    Did you try the new Catapults? If so, in which scenario and how effective were they?
    Didn't get a chance, and meat bag is my favourite too :(

    How was the difficulty in attacking a level 5 Keep, and how many players went with you?
    Only one keep attack. 6 attackers, 2 player's defending. I didn't notice any difference from live.

    How was the difficulty in attacking a level 5 resource, and how many players went with you?
    I used a template replica of my end-game glass-cannon bow ganker to solo resources using the same skills and tactics I have used on live. The increase in this character's damage output due to extra cp and a 12 piece equipment set is very noticeable though.
    Level 5 resources were a little tougher than I remember resources being on live, and I died a couple of times, but most of the time I succeeded, even when an enemy player tried to join in the defence.

    When I joined 2 other players in attacking a couple of resources it was just the usual massacre.

    Do you have any other general feedback?
    For the most part it's been a very lonely experience. I only managed 5 kills in about 10 hours' play, and four of them were the same enemy character. I think you really need to incentivise AvA participation on the PTS.

    No

    Yes, but I didnt finish any. Not enough players on pts during my playtime and trying to capture anything, there is always some guy who - seeing you fight against 5 guards - needs it badly to kill you instantly. So, not enough captures to tell.

    No, tbh...

    Yes.
    Could try on NPC only while sieging, but overall I like the changes and I think on live it is gonna be more effective in defending. First I thought the time the effects remain on the impact area are a bit too short, but imagining having few more ppl using those, it is good as it is. The most benefit will appear for smaller defending groups vs bigger attacking groups, which will at least lengthen the time to breach (and maybe allow help to arrive before it is all too late).

    I was solo and didnt manage to capture, since some genius enemy player was around to kill me, but the attack itself did take a lot more effort and time. The guards do their job better than before. At least as solo it wont be that easy anymore and give defenders the opportunity to build up a defense.
    (magSorc, max cp, exact same build and setup as on live)

    How was the difficulty in attacking a level 5 resource, and how many players went with you?
    Solo again and the same as for keep. It is harder, still doable solo, but with more time and more tactics. I tried different scenarios, from hdiding and taking guards out one-by-one, to running straight into tower and taking them out from there or just jumping in the mid.
    For all those listed, the jumping in the mid does not work any more, while on live now it is the fastest way, on pts I died everytime trying this. The one-by-one is working good with enough dps, else the guards will respawn before you got the last one - f.e. with my healplar that wont work. The tower option works still best, is harder tho. Or at least for me, since aiming to the healers first from mid floor of the tower is hard because they stand behind the guards.

    Overall, talking about solo, for non-tanky melee with average dps it will get significantly harder, for ranged-squishy the tower option still remains best but is not as easy as before.
    Afterall, with high dps and experience it will be no real change at all (solo) and being in a group it still is easy to manage.
    (magSorc, max cp, exact same build and setup as on live)

    Yes.! (although it is more suggestions)
    1. IC and cyrodiil
    I still hope that IC will some day be apart from cyro. Saying that, I mean population cap and performance wise. Imho those two "worlds" act separately in the alliance war and should not lead to a disadvantage on the other side. F.e. when my guild does IC raid, it is 20 people less who can join cyro fights (and that is only one guild, often there are more groups running around). On the other hand, ppl who want to go IC share the same queue - they have to wait even if they wont contribute to cyro fights at all.
    This should be handled separately to give each side fair conditions and not leading to disproportion in population.
    Apart from that, both "worlds" should not share the performance. In cyro fights there is a lot more going on (see the daily evenings fort ash fight around 17GMT f.e., where 60 and more ppl fight on each side, in one place, with sieges etc), that should not affect performance in IC.

    2. Performance in general:
    I really really hope that you guys manage to increase the performance for cyro. Speaking for me, I dont need any new fancy skills, catapults, quests and so on, if I cant play. F.e. for some skill you make weaving smoother: I wont have any advantage from that since weaving with constant ping 250 and framerate drops to 5fps is not even worth trying. Geting timeouts by approaching a bigger fight (like the mentioned ash-fight) where it takes me 5 mins at least to log back in (3 attempts usually and it takes annoyingly ages until "the game" recognizes that it wont work...) - when I see ping crossing 500 it is already too late, in 1 sec it jumps to 999+ and then game over. And that occurs not riding in full speed into the fight, but walking and coming in line of sight of the first players on the front.... No fancy catapult will help here. Having a bigger group with many aoe coming towards you, is like a perma stun - game over, before you could even react. Using break free with that lag is not working, hammering the assigned key like an idiot and nothing happens - where is the fun? Timing skills in combos - not working. Laging sieges, where you either cant activate and lose time, or cant leave and watch being killed...

    All that stuff needs to get better, if you are honestly interested in improving cyro experience and seriously want to change anything to the better. Playing during full server load is no fun at all.
    All that is hard to see sitting at a high end machine with the best connection money can get you. Make your own experience, on an average machine and with an average connection speed and to a time when population is locked! It will make you want to throw things out the window...
    On pts there is no way to check if there is any improvement in performance.

    3. Daily quests for rewards
    With reference to the past event, where every daily quest gave you a chance to get the new shiny wormcult motif, I kindly suggest to not repeat that with having cyro included. For those days most people in cyro were farming those motifs, not participating in the fights at all. Not only that the alliance war was practically over due to completely destroyed balance of population, but also those who wanted to play wars instead of farming found theirselves to a queue of 100+... I dont mind that those ppl made a lot of gold by selling those motifs, but that should not affect those who just wanted to play.

    4. Group tools
    Please incorporate some easy group tools for alliance war, which would help leading a group or reacting as group member easier, without having to depend on voice chat.
    For now you can set a rally point. That's it. But that is no leading, nor gives it any possibilities to do more.

    There should be some usable commands, which can be given to group members, also as responses members could give to the leader. Activated by a hotkey a leader could tell the members to wait, to attack, to hide, to sneak, to place camp, to whatever. Members could respond f.e. by telling when enemies are incomming, when it is not secure to attack, when they spotted an enemy, whatever. I honestly dont like to compare, but most of the games that use groups/teams and leading have those. This does not have to be a fancy shining menu with glowing icons and what not, just something simple where players can chose which options they need or, best case, can customize the commands/replies as they wish. And please, not text-messages to chat.. it has to be something that pops out.
    It is no option to lead (when leading is taken seriously) using the chat. 9/10 in chat is "lfg" spamming constantly, inbetween some valuable informations about attacks, discussions about who is a cheater, ppl crying about noone coming to help and then put commands in there? Not fun. Fighting in group depends on fast actions and reactions. Sure it will not become as good as voice, but a lot of players cant or dont want voice chat and there should be an alternative.


    Sorry for the book I wrote, but that is what I think this game needs most, before taking care of cosmetics.

    Please dont fix that on one single guy (if it was him at all..), it was several different ppl, at different times and different locations, who had their own private alliance war going on. And who gained... nothing. *thumbsup*

    You took two totally unrelated pieces of testimony and attempted to judge me. Unsurprisingly, you got it wrong. I hope you're not a cop or anything similar IRL.

    For your information - I was attacked first by the person I killed four times. They kept coming back for more. They made no indication in words or actions that they didn't want to be attacked. When it became painfully obvious that they had no clue how to fight me, and lacked the gumption to learn from their from their defeats I moved on.

    Small note - in Live Cyrodiil, it is possible to ride your horse along the top of the wall through the towers. That is no longer the case in PTS Cyrodiil. You are unmounted when you ride into a tower. I don't know if that's meant to be or not, but it's happening, and I cry.

    Since there is a general dismounting bug around on the pts, which does not affect all players but the most, I cant imagine that it would be intended. But it has been reported already.

    5. Forward camps
    Please make placing camps rewarding. 20k AP are gone, each time a camp is placed and there is no real reward for that (it helps others, yes, but the player who placed it can ress once, twice if he is lucky). For that reason a lot of ppl dont buy / place camps. I m not talking about organized groups, but about the average player who join fights.

    Healing gets rewarded with AP, repairing gets rewarded with AP, so why not give the camp placing player a return of lets say 100AP for each player who used the camp? That would make 2k AP in total, when 20 players use it. Or make it give 1/4 of costs back, which would be 250AP / player. If noone resses, no gain. If 20 ress, you get 5k AP back for the effort. Sounds fair, doesnt it?

    It still would cost some to get camps, but it would give ppl something back for their commitment and might increase the overall use of camps, especially for those who are sparing with their AP.

    Last but not least, placing camps is definitely contributing to fights and can be the crucial part for win or lose - therefore it should be rewarding, too. All other contributing gets rewarded.

    Cyro was empty, so taking a level 5 resource solo was the only activity I participated in. On both a magDK and magplar, the difficulty and time involved was a little higher. It's not quite as hard as it is in noCP on live, but you can feel it is a little more difficult. However I have taken a lot of resources and know what to prioritize... for newer players it will probably feel like a challenge on the order of a public dungeon boss. I think that's a pretty good level, especially with Midyear Mayhem coming up.

    Please make IC a separate entity with it's own queue OR make it part of the Cyro war.

    After all PVEer got some quality of life improvements it would be nice that PvPer also got some

    general ideas:
    • give everyone a account wide siege-bag just like the crafting-bag (no one like to waste inventory especial since siege weapons do not stack)
    • place in every alliance base shrines to reset skills because it can be annoying if you have to port out just to reset some skill especial if there is a queue
    • give us separate skill and cp layouts so we don't permanently have to switch if we want to pvp and pve on the same char
    • give even new player(or new alts) fast horses in pvp if they are out of combat
      No one like to play the horse simulator for ages. Especial new players will get no really fun if they always have to ride for ages. Players who did feed their horse still would have an advantage since their horse would even be extrem fast if they are in combat. I would either put it in the battle spirit or replace combat rezzing with this[/spoiler
    • maybe even improve the guild trader system in Cyrodiil so it actual has some advantage to have a guild store in cyro
      The guild trader system in cyro has 2 problems
      • pvp guilds most of the time are not a trading guild and don't offer anything
      • it is not interesting enough for trade guilds to be in cyro
      pvp guilds could rent/give their guild store place would at least help with the empty guild stores and if you could search many guild stores at once (maybe all guild stores from alliance territory if you are in a captured home keep of their alliance and all emperor keeps from your base) and there would not be the 10% fee it could be even interesting to have a guild store in cyro
    Ice Furnace: This item set now grants Spell Damage, rather than Weapon Damage for the 4 piece bonus

    Good point idd. If it is not possible to have 2 layouts saved, then at least try to implement saving custom templates to make resetting all stuff easier. What I mean is a help by setting skills after reset, where instead of going through each skill line and clicking endless, having a choice to click "my pve setup" (or whatever you call it) and all skills are set as saved before. Then you can reset, go on "my pvp setup" and skills are set to the other template and so on. Same for CP.

    That would be great. I dont know if an addon could do that, but some possibility would be nice.

    How are we doing with stopping alliance switching for nefarious means and AP boosting in general?

    Got excited for campaign reset on Xbox EU, half a day later see some of the top leaderboard guys who have decent scores sat flipping outposts. It just wrecks the game its a fun hoover.

    Part 2 on how to make pvper more happy:
    • Rework the mail of the worthy so they do not spam you with mails (that you all will delete including loot)
      Make it similar to crown crates that you get boxes instead of mails and let us choose if we want the loot or "extract" the loot to get more ap. This would also feel more rewarding if done right and can easy extended to more rare loot. Like special pvp mounts, mofits,....
    • Give us a direct access to Imperial city without having to ride or even better give it a own campaign, that you can queue directly in and see the population.
    • give us a mechanism to port out of cyro without having to suicide to get to the base and then port out.
    • Improve the doors so they work more reliable in combat. They do not either don't work at all and you are their spamming E or you get in and get immediately out again.

    Bonus:
    There are some spots where you can easy get stuck in and can not get out and they are in there for ages. So here are a few hints to the devs where they are:
    • 2 are close to bleakers
    • one is on the on the top of the stairs
    • one is close to some wood construction
    • one is close to a AD keep that has blood in its name
    • one is in some water, but you can not swim in there

    Also remove cost increase poison or give them their own campaign

    We've been having a lively discussion regarding adding an ESO+ Perk for a Siege/War bag tab like with the Craft bag that we can use to store siege in so it isn't a mess in our main inventory.

    Knowing that the earlier attempt to make siege stackable glitched and was rolled back, this would be a viable alternative.

    Seems everyone is excited about the prospect of this idea, as well as some folks discussing ways to introduce, say, rank locked clickable siege summon mementos. Say you reach Lt, can buy the "summon fire ballista" clickie, costs you 100AP per summon, something like that.

    your typical solo player probably still won't have much of an issue solo flipping resources if they're balanced for 2-4 players. at the worst, it'll require a little more effort than running onto flag and aggroing everything at once to aoe down.

    so we've been testing a bit today. I went on my banana while my red friends tried to kill me. We tried taking keeps and running away etc. defense ticks seem to work but taking resources or offensive ticks don't seem to register on a player out of range.

    Also the catapults don't put an aoe down on the wall's of keeps. I clearly see the impact but no damage. only when hitting other area's like the wooden stairs behind it the aoe will apear and do damage.

    I want to talk about the performance improvement. Despite I felt little to no increase in fps (was playing at 40-60 in cyrodiil, little changed after the patch), I think the lag reduced slightly. Very slightly. It is still well present and strong, still makes the game unplayable, but now skills fire off after 3-4s instead of 5-6s. I guess it's and improvement!

    To me its unplayable, not depending on time of day or lag/not lag. Weaving impossible and skills sometimes not firing at all, but mostly clumsy and delayed. With or without addons, doesnt change anything. Since I dont play tanky or one-hit builds its absolutely frustrating and a lot worse than it was before.
    I already put a cover over my pvp toons and am not willing to play them until this is fixed.
