100% agree. ZoS should start all toons from cold harbor imo then have an npc give us the option to experience the new expansions starting quest.

I've never understood why it isn't an option at the character creation screen. Even if you do the coldharbor intro, you can still do the intro for morrowind (not sure about summerset) and feel like everything is moving in order. Time can pass while the prophet works out a plan, and during that time, you could be saving morrowind or summerset.

I think new players probably get confused when they go through the Morrowind tutorial, play for a while, then when they're level 15 or 20 or so they finally decide to find out what that "Benefactor" quest was that the weird hooded lady gave them ... so they chug a pepsi and decide to do it ... only to find they're suddenly doing another tutorial.

    :/:/:/

In all honesty, the "Benefactor" quest does not feel like a tutorial, nor does it act like one anymore.. it now acts like a regular quest that begins a long chain of quests. What is nice is that you can do the main quests back to back, so you can gain all those skill points very early on... normally I have all the main quests up to the 'Stirk' quest done before I reach level 25.

omg I had no idea. I recently restarted before I got morrowind and while I plan to go there, thank goodness I know before I start my next char, otherwise I would have been screaming incoherently about flashbacks and glastonbury in 1986.

Okay so you skip the tutorial, like everyone else-- and then instead of focusing the MQ you mvoe on to wherever you want to move on to. This doesn't justify starting people int he new DLC zone.
My response had nothing to do with justifying starting in a new zone. Just that I'm finally glad to see I won't be starting on Coldharbour anymore.

The MQ shouldn't even be called the MQ anymore. It's a relic of a game that has long since changed.

In fact, Caldwell's Silver/Gold proves this, as Caldwell still insists you can play other zones (you're now free to explore) but everyone forgot all you did.

    Makes no sense now.

New players are going to be confused over this, unless they come to the forums to read the history of the game.

It's not like the game is going to tell them.

I am a VERY casual player with this game. In all honesty, I dont think I ever finished the mainquest with my main (Imperial Templar Healer.....yikes). I believe I stopped playing for over a year and when I cam back I just started creating new toons to try new things. I just end up farming, crafting, and doing dungeons. Maybe after seeing this it should motivate me to get my arse back to coldharbour and do the damn thing.

I have a lot of sympathy with that approach, it sums up how I play TES and Fallout. But there is so much dialogue in this game, not seen since Morrowind the 1st. I love going through each zones quests and seeing the story unfold. It's too well done to do it itty bitty.
