I think it would be awesome to find a way to "grow" your own crafting regents. Obviously, it would have to be somewhat difficult so as to not throw the economy out of whack but I think it would be fun.
That would be pretty awesome, if it were limited to being harvested once per day. Something akin to Wizard 101's gardening plots would be great (I know it's a kid's MMO, shush, but it had a nice little gardening system). Would be a nice addition to housing, both visually and functionally.
I always pictured ZOS making furnishing plans for gardens, one for each plant you’d want to grow. I think they’d have to make it expensive to craft, though so as not to disrupt the market too much.
As said above, I think a daily harvest yielding between 1-5 ingredients per garden plot would be reasonable. If they were worried about player filling up entire homes with gardens, maybe they could limit the number of gardens allowed per home, depending on the size of the home.
Or, Z0$ could implement a way to have a personal resource garden that produced materials only the player could use, and anything crafted with said materials would be bound to the account.
This would prevent economic upheaval, while also eliminating any arbitrary time-gate for production.
Want to harvest your own nodes? Then you gotta do <x> to produce it, and the products can only be used by you.
Otherwise, gotta get out in the open world and farm like everyone else.
Its similar to purchasing crown-consumables.
Same effects (mostly), but only can only be used by the purchaser.
That would be nice. I don't think it would have to be difficult. I think the timer on reagent growth just needs to be longer - As if for example, you can only pick your plants once a week.
Can't have everyone growing Columbine every 3 minutes.
