    It has gotten worse, used to be all staff flavors were more or less equal, and now icy is more tank-y and lighting more area-ish...

    As I kept saying, I would -love- to see way more optiopns for the "Destruction" skill line, for one something other then staves (like my Spell Focus idea - so we can cast with spellbooks, meditation crystals, holy symbols and gemmed skulls, etc.) and for another, more flavor choices, like greenish poison/acid or cyan necromancer "coldfire", or purple "warlock" pure magic... and of course resto staves also could use some more flavors, for example sickly yellow-green "disease" staves (less initial damage, but with some DoT to it) or reddish blood magfic staves (also less damage, but as lifedrain)

    (and then, for even more varietee... more magical weapon skill line options, like one-handed and rune for all those spellswords and dual rune mid-range high-damage spellslinging...)

    Oh, well. One can hope, yes?

    I can't say I hate staves but my biggest "gripe" is that elemental damage is tied to staves. I would prefer there were just one destruction staff that does magicka damage. Elemental damage would come from skills lines or by applying enchantments. Then let axes, swords, etc. be on par with staffs in terms of dealing elemental damage. I mean, two handed weapons are just two handed weapons. Same as dual wield. Destruction staves should be the same. Now, I would be for adding other staffs as well such as illusion, alteration, etc. to a along with a single destruction and the current resto staff.

    Not true, oblivion allows you to cast spells while holding weapons.
    Skyrim too. In Skyrim you can hold a sword in one hand and have a spell in the other. I loved that system.

    Magicka dual wield = wand+spellbook. Why isnt this a thing?
    THIS. I've been wanting this so badly. Although, now that staves will count as two set pieces (starting with Summerset), it's become a little less important to me, since I mainly wanted it so magic users could have an extra set piece.
