Should I have Shadowy Disguise slotted on my stam blade?

I am cp211 right now. On my stamBlade, my stamina is just over 25k, health I think is around 14k and magicka is around 9k. All 64 points are in stamina. My friend says I should always have Shadowy Disguise slotted on my main bar in PvP. I find it useless for my stamBlade as my maicka is only 9k, so I get two uses from it before i'm out of magicka.

I would say back bar. Your health is fairly low, so it may give you enough of a break from the fight to make it out alive. That being said, you are stamina. You'll only get to use it 2 times, maybe 3, so you gotta use it wisely.

If you space those two uses of cloak out to their maximum duration, you should be able to reposition somewhere and get into "crouch stealth" pretty easily.

Additionally, you can use it to move from "crouch stealth" into melee range in order to set up your opener.

Funny, I thought he said he have 14khp(in cyrodiil?) as stamblade without cloak :bawling: .

You should play as you want. Most people would say cloak is good(necessary even) though. 14khp is too low for sure.

If you do not like cloak maybe try with shade, some have been able to use that without cloak ok.

Don't listen to this guy. One of the morphs IS changing (Dark Cloak) by removing invisibility. There is no indication that any changes are coming to Shadowy Disguise.

i said eventually so it is smart to listen to me as well. cause they change one whats stopping them from eventually changing the other?? people do scream alot about it in pvp to the point even i stopped using it cause itll get nerfed into the floor eventually. permacloak is a massive issue which will end up killing it.

The pure utility of cloak and the value to DPS, especially in PVP, make it incredibly useful. That is not to say necessary, but very good all the same. As far as the low magicka goes, as long as you recognize that you can only use the ability two times in rapid succession, and you're not using your magicka on something else, cloak is an incredibly solid option for you, if just on a backbar.

nah just someone whos waiting to get his cloak taken away cause to many people in pvp scream about nightblades.....

You are giving the advice to a new player about something that might(not only that but taking away a iconic class ability) never happen, because you happened to be grumpy about something?

In your way of thinking. you are already rocking 2h front and back same set instead of 1 front bar and one back bar and so lose one 5th set piece because in summerset it will change?

no dual wield and bow like usual. i just havent been relying on cloak since they changed one morph their gonna change the other to the same deal no cloaking but getting some other buff. its just a matter of time and im saving a new player from getting stuck in a habit then not knowing any other way to play outside of that habit then totally getting creamed later on due to a change.

    are you using dubious camoran?

your health is a bit low...what gear sets do you have equipped, what weapons?

shadowy disguise is a blast on magblades...stamblades - not so much...definitely a useful ability for any nightblade...you just have to be very judicious with it's use...

having a mag pot slotted and at your disposal will help if you really have to get away and disappear for a while...

the guaranteed crit is pretty nice too...

I am not able to craft any specific gear sets yet (working another character to be my crafter) but I have 5/5 of the leviathan set (two of these are jewelry). Maybe a noob question, but what is a mag pot? Is that like a potion?

I don't see the problem with my 2nd post that you removed then.

You can still see it in his duskmarines quote for review of it.

Saying it is a must have is as wrong as giving advice not to use it for a reason that atm will never happen.

In a solo perspective it make life easier imo. In a group you don't need cloak at all probably.

Put it on the bar you plan on opening with in terms of burst combo attacks. if you start with bow HA and PI, then put it on your bow bar.

Should you have the (arguably) most powerful ability in eso slotted?

Just ask that question to yourself a couple times.

I use on bow back bar. Use sparingly. You'll get about two casts, but it can bail you out of a bad situation.

Having some invisible pots to supplement cloak helps as well. I like the ones you get from thieves troves.

Well the whole reason I am asking is because this is my first time ever using a Nightblade. For me, I haven't had much success when using the ability and after searching around other peoples builds on YouTube and talking on here, I am, or was, using this build incorrectly.

first and foremost - enjoy the journey...it's so easy to get caught in grinding for mats, gear, xp...

that can really suck the fun out of everything...

crafting is a great way to improve you gear to include sets, glyphs, potions, food and drink...

it's definitely useful though to take a long range approach...it takes a while to level a majority (blacksmithing, clothing, woodworking, enchanting) of the skill lines, and, it also takes a good supply of materials to make it happen...

i've never used leviathan - but, it looks like a very useful set:
    Leviathan Set
(2 items) Adds 1096 Max Stamina
(3 items) Adds 833 Weapon Critical
(4 items) Adds 833 Weapon Critical
(5 items) Adds 1924 Weapon Critical

the key with choosing any gear sets is what effect is the set causing - in this case a high probability of hitting enemies with critical damage, and, how to best make use of that to make you character successful in dealing damage, or, healing...

i remember when i first started out playing i spent a ton of time on this website figuring out what kind of sets i wanted to use... http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Sets

ugh, work is calling me back to reality :)

there are all different types of potions which can be quickslotted and used...some of the more basic potions can be purchased at either the battlegrounds or cyrodiil siege merchants (there are siege merchants inside of each alliance starting area - they sell for AP or gold)...

potions can really make the difference between life or death in a lot of situations...

I'm not mocking you when I say it's one of the most powerful abilities in eso.

As a stamblade you will be limited in it's usage, but used properly it's an ability to remove other's ability to directly target you. It's not a spammed ability... it allows you to reposition on people and a guaranteed crit.

While you are limited in using it in succession, even with nothing added to magicka or magicka regen you still have regen that will bring it back as available. With tristat food and a tripot you can usually use it 5-6 in a row btw... which is enough to get away from an unwinnable situation and reset. Many stamblade play around with using the atronach mundus for the added magicka regen or using sets like shacklebreaker (that have magicka regen and + magicka).

I couldn't tell or not reading text, so I apologize for responding defensively.

This was helpful to read. I hadn't exactly been using it as a means to get away to re-position myself. I think that's where a lot of my error was.

I am learning the importance of food and potions as well. For a long time, before I started playing this game smart, I had just been tossing food completely, not bothering to read their purposes.

the guaranteed crit is pretty nice too...

I do not have the dubious camoran :(

As far as gear, I have been using the 5-1-1 ratio...5 medium, 1 heavy (chest) and 1 light (belt). I am not able to craft any specific gear sets yet (working another character to be my crafter) but I have 5/5 of the leviathan set (two of these are jewelry). As for weapons, I have a bow on the main bar and a 2h sword an the back bar.

Maybe a noob question, but what is a mag pot? Is that like a potion?

I've been playing this game since 2015 with the mindset of selecting the skills, weapons and armor that I think are cool and would help, not realizing there's an actual smart way to play this game lol

first and foremost - enjoy the journey...it's so easy to get caught in grinding for mats, gear, xp...

that can really suck the fun out of everything...

crafting is a great way to improve you gear to include sets, glyphs, potions, food and drink...

it's definitely useful though to take a long range approach...it takes a while to level a majority (blacksmithing, clothing, woodworking, enchanting) of the skill lines, and, it also takes a good supply of materials to make it happen...

i've never used leviathan - but, it looks like a very useful set:

Thank you for this information, this is really helpful! I am going to take a look at that link right now, as I currently have nothing to do at work at the moment lol

    i'm sooooooo jealous :)

As a nightblade, cloak is a must, and with a stamina nightblade it is even more requiered to have it on the main bar.

Enemys in pvp uses Tab button to lock target on you, and as a nightblade you cant really take hits, and your not supposed to. Once you hit that cloak button their locked target on you dissapear, and you will be able to continue on while redirecting enemy attention on ur allies. When your attacking enemys be sure to use suprise attack while cloak is active, this is a "secret" combo, that will stun your opponent, and increase their damage taken by 75% the next 3 seconds while stunned, and bypass ?all pyschial resistance? for the duration.

for PvP consider using purple Health/stamina/magica food, and armour enchantments with health/stam/magica.

    Good luck
