Magicka Warden changes [PvP Oriented Discussion]

I was pretty dismayed when I saw that Wrobel took away the stun on Deep Fissure and gave us Major Breach for 5 seconds instead. So lemme get this straight Mr. Wrobel. Warden can't have an execute (bear dies way too quick and I can't even control who it attacks), ya took our undodgeable birds which was a psuedo-execute, AND I don't get a stun now??? So pls, if you would be so kind, explain to me how I am supposed to secure kills. If I want a stun next patch I have to run Clench which costs way too much for way too little. Of course I can run Master staff to even further restrict my already barren options of setups on a magwarden. I suggest you give us our darn stun back, and maybe move major breach to Cliff Racer considering it has a 1 second delay and is no longer undodgeable.

    At this point the advanced species passive should be renamed to endangered species...

    Jokes aside, magden really needs a non ultimate execute... maybe rework fetcher infection to have execute scaling like poison injection...

    They should also have a non ultimate class based stun and a snare somewhere is it’s “tanking tree” as this is the case with every other class...

    The real issue with the class is too much of the classes damage, crowd control, and lethality is focused on its ultimates and not enough in its base skills... stamden makes up for these losses with weapon lines but magden can’t really pick up a destro and suddenly have access to an execute or mobility like Stam can with two handed

    I know you won't like this answer- but I've been working on an Ice Warden who appreciates the Major Breach now. It'll make my ice abilities hit harder.

    I don't so much mind the loss of the stun since I use Gripping Shards. I basically get the enemy immobilized and then blast them with Deep Fissure. That Major Breach will really assist you with damage. Even better... you could utilize a heavy armor build since you're getting all that spell penetration.

    Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

    That will most certainly work for battlegrounds and against other mages and the breach with be hilariously good for permafrost bombing :)

    But against good stam characters an undodgeable stun will be necessary even if you keep 100% uptime on corrupting pollen... the only good undodgeable stun I can see using on an ice mage is borrowed time from the psyjic order line but that 1.5s casttime will take some getting used to... but yes I too am looking foreword to having major breach.

    But I cant see myself using heavy armor... haven’t used it since the heavy armor meta with my mag blade and the old siphoning strikes pre morrowind.

    Chances are I will just grab a masters inferno and reach spam my sorrows away on squishy no impen vampires :)

    I have already started using Masters Inferno staff when the Dragon Bones patch launched, and now I am forced to continue to use similar setup.

    Ive been wondering if it would be also better to shift several abilites to Ice damage ive tested out so many builds and theory crafted well over 1mill gold on live. Even made a viable nybrid with over 40k magica and over 30k stamina Dark elf. The reason being to add a more abilities to ice would be to add a stun to screaming cliff racer (because of chilled) could also give a nice buff from the winters embrace tree. Just how the abilies on Stamden how fissure morphs to poison why not fissure shift to Ice dmg? this would increase diversity on builds for Ive been DYING to use Ysgamors set with Winterborn! Every other class has there one element they focus on why not wardens? Would be TRUELY a Ice warden! I would say to also change " deals up to 15% more damage based on how far the enemy is away" to our execute example would be " when ebemy falls below 25% health Cliff racer dmg is increased to X amount of Ice dmg "? Or buff dmg to be on par with other classes more heavy ability attack to make it more spicy? You could also put the Eternal Guardian do a pulse like ice dmg effect to make it more usable because atm its one of the worse pets out there. We could also change the morphs on Fetcher flies for one to cause Poison dmg and as like someone pointed out to be like a poison arrow and for the magic version to do the same but in Ice damage these are some of the big ideas I have brained stormed for a while I just want More versatility and see a lot more builds that use a little of everything out there!

    Cliff racer execute scaling actually sounds like a good idea. I’d say make it scale like reverse slice, grudzally increasing from 50% hp. On the other hand I don’t really like spamming birds so from my playstyle PoV I probably wouldn’t even use it.

    Regarding stuns, I’d really like to have a passive in winters wrath that stuns chilled enemies when hit by winters wrath abilities.

    I've been playing magden since it came out.

    This class is lacking several things.
    It's playstyle is not unique but a bad copy of other classes.

    Warden doesn't have access to huge shields, no class CC.

    They just have to think if you want it to be ranged or melee.

    It is clear that you have no idea if it has to be a ranged "Pet controller", or something involved with ice and melee fights.

    In both cases it' underperforming and simply useless. It would be weaker than a magsorc (shields, damage, mobility) or any melee class the other way.


    Just fix your idea about it and give him some proper active and passive skills (change some passives from the Ice tree).

    Increase ice damage passive to 10% from 6%

    Bring back undodgable birds for magicka only

    Redesign arctic wind completely to a dps skill. The healing is awful and the green balance tree offers much better options

    That's a great idea. It's clear they want Winter's Embrace to be the tanking tree. This change would allow them to keep that design while also giving PVP Wardens a reason to slot a Winter's Embrace ability other than Permafrost. I also like the defensive-offensive synergy this would give magwardens: we would open up an offensive window by utilizing our defensive abilities.

    that is beautiful idea! give winters embrace and Ice abilites a lot more utility for warden! and yes maybe not for cliff racer but for artic winds change it to like a ice sword impale or geyser? and do a complete overhaul of the ability for what mb10 said our healing tree is better. Artic winds could also give chilled gaurenteed to help snare too? maybe? our execute could also be this ability to make it a complete overhaul change to it. I would still like to see a lot of our morphs of magica change to Ice damage to create more magica diversity builds!
