Can't Enter East/Western Gates in AD to Speak With General

I'm trying to finsh the quest to enter the Imperial City by speaking with the AD general. Unable to physically travel/or teleport via AD shrines to reach him where he's located in the heart of the city itself.
I've tried both doors which are inaccessible from the Reaper's March side. I've googled this to no avail. HTF do you access the special AD shrines/holds in order to enter the damned province? Can't complete this part of starting the quest without it

KyleTheYounger✭✭✭edit : by "doors' I meant the Eastern and Western Gates which are obviously locked from the PvE side in Reaper's March. Every tutorial on this I've found says you need to speak with the damned General. But they don't indicate HOW to physically enter the PvP zone by the specified AD portals?0

Cyrodiil cannot be entered by a gate, only by entering a pvp campaign (press L).

KyleTheYounger✭✭✭Yes I know it isn't related to new DLC. But does this mean we can't travel between the new zone & PVP zones? I thought that was the purpose of PTS to test how the new DLC integrated with existing content?
i.e. are we NOT supposed to visit other non Summerset Isle areas on PTS? Because I can visit the PvE zones (including TG & DB) & join these faction (plus vanilla mages & fighter's guilds) with no issues.....0 -

✭Why are you even trying to enter Imperial City? The changes were to pvp in general and Cyrodiil.
You can't open the campaign menu and enter pvp on PTS? I thought you could.0 -

Only zone you cannot enter through normal means is cyrodiil and imperial city... you will need to enter a pvp campaign to do that. Always has been that way since release.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭To enter Cyrodiil: open your Alliance War tab, choose a campaign as guest or home, and enter the campaign. You will arrive at one of your two home gates and can travel to the other one through the transits shrine in the middle of the gate base.
To enter the Imperial City: enter Cyrodiil as stated above. The three entrances to the Imperial City are marked on your map with the imperial dragon sign around Lake Rumare in the center of Cyrodiil. You cannot travel directly there, but can ride there. I advise traveling via transitus shrine to your nearest owned keep and riding the rest of the way to the sewer gate. This will take you straight to your faction's sewer HQ where the general can be found.
To leave the Imperial City: return to the HQ and take the Cyrodiil exit, which takes you straight to your home gate.
To Leave Cyrodiil: at your home gate, use the wayshrines to travel to any other wayshrines.
If this seems absurdly complex, yes it is and many of us would like a simpler way to get to the Imperial City.0 -
KyleTheYounger✭✭✭Ok thank you. This is the very first time (since ESO launch) that I've ever attempted to enter the City. Had NO idea it was so damned complicated!
I finally figured out how to enter with my vet character (on the regular non PTS) server. Wasn't sure if I was having issues on the PTS server as I was getting wiered lag & stuttering.
I'll attempt it with my n00b toon a bit later.
This was one hell of a learning cuve TBH. >,<0
