ESO vs BLIZZARD

Demonic_Wrath
I played wow ever since Vanilla and have not had such bad customer support as I did today with eso. Blizzard response team could take up to 3+ hours but once connected the representative would stay with you throughout the process until resolved. Today it took 4 hours to get a response for my issue(which still has not been resolved) through email with information that did not help me. When I described my issue fully in response, it took 2 hours to hear from a different representative, but again did not resolve my issue. Today my issue has been passed on to multiple representatives and their response is

"At this time I am going to send this up to my High Elves so that they can sort this out for you! They should get back to you as soon as they can. Thank You for your understanding and patience!"

That was 6 hours ago.

Just want to say I am not hating on ESO. I love the game! That's why it's so disappointing not being able to play on a character I have put countless hours into.

Sorry if this sounds mean or condescending, but I'm copying it from another forum thread where people are complaining about customer support as it's my post there anyways:

Ok, figure there are 1 million users playing the game right now. rough estimate. And figure that most MMO's deal with a 15% player base worth of tickets in teh first 3 months of launch. Do the math and figure out it isn't that bad. And for all you whining children crying about refunds, then cancel your order. your playing a game that isn't even out yet!!! Don't want to play? Then don't. Go ahead and cancel your order or return it after. But don't expect a refund. That's like using a car for a week, deciding the speed isn't quite what you'd like and trying to return it. It's people like you all that don't quite understand what it's like to not only work on an MMO but also get it out to the public. It's not like they have thousands of employees sitting there ready to answer your ticket. Hell, I'm pretty sure they don't have thousands of employee's period! The real unreasonable ones are you all crying about a game that your getting to play early. You Dev a game like this and have it go off wthout a hitch then you can come back and maybe offer to help. Other than that, be patient. I don't know of any MMo that's ever been perfect at launch. No such thing.

Ever been to an amusement park and gotten in line for a reallllly popular ride? And ever notice how allll those other people in front of you get on the ride first? Wellllll.... there you go. Your ticket doesn't warrent any quicker response than the possible tend of thousands of others that are in line before yours. And you yap about talking to a rep in a timely manner? Lets see...you submitted one email, they gave you a response, and then you QQed here on the forums after they didn't get back to you as fast as you'd like. Well Mr. Ruler of the World, how dare they possibly spend time helping others or actually trying the fix the issues. They should sit there and respond to your email all day long. Or maybe you could try calling them? Or sending them another (polite) email about it? I'm sure this is more stressful for them having to try to sort through thousands of issues and prioritize than it is for you to sit there mad because you don't get to play your game early before it comes out. Or maybe try to look in FAQ.s or known bug fixes. Or nicely ask some others here in the community that may have had the same issue if they have found a fix for it.

Also, I think the proper comparison is Blizzard vs Zenimax Online, as that's the company. ESO is the game. And if your making that comparison, your looking at a company that had already been established for years before WoW came out and already had a dedicated customer support team, to a relatively infant stage company with their first huge huge release.

Did you get the same Customer Support when Blizzard released WoW around 10 years ago?

Or are you describing an experience you recently had with WoW Customer Support? When the game has already been around there for 10 years..
  • Valkerian
    Valkerian
even then you can't compare it to WoW as they already had an established customer support team from the warcraft series and it's installments before, starcraft and diablo.

Well , since you just quoted this , what im saying is not directed at you, but it applies to some "lovers" of this game.

People , WAKE UP , this is a sub/month game , each player that quits , is one step closer to F2P.

Stop just saying people leave like it does not matter , because of all people affected , the ones leaving could not care less about the future of the game , the ones staying and saying they "love" the game are the ones who will suffer when things go south.

    Funny comparison, is stupid.

Really OP do you really think they they are launching with a command centre of over 9000 customer service rep ?

Blizzard released WoW 10 years ago ... and its Zenimax/Bethesda btw not ESO ...... is how many days into the "soft" launch ? Soft being the key word btw, that's right 2 days.

Grow up and wait a few hours for a reply, you are not going to get the Blizzard 3 hour replies yet and it is foolish for you to think you will .... its early access and the game is a million times better than Blizzards launch of WoW.

I just feel a couple of things should be changed with game interface and policy. Representatives should stay with the customer until resolved and in-game tickets should show a que and not be close due to closing the window. Wow you could atleast play or do stuff while having the ticket...

Don't really agree with that perse. I mean, I've been on several games and loved my time there before they went free to play. Didn't bother me or my play-mates when it did either as we already had the fun and memories. It just meant more new people to come and enjoy it with us. there are thousands if not millions of Elder Scrolls fans that won't even check it out because they are scared of the subscription. If it DOES go F2P someday, then maybe they'll come enjoy it too.

I was under the impression that this game was developed by ZOS (Zenimax Online Studios). They have nothing to do with the SP games (perhaps some devs will be the same, not sure) but the CS department will probably be a different one.

Since ZOS and the other companies are all daughter-companies of Bethesda, should we direct ourselves to Bethesda then? I think only one company is working on this and it's ZOS.

Really? When you open a ticket in game you need to keep the window open the whole time? oO

The single player ES games aren't Zenimax games.... Those belong to Bethesda Softworks. From Zeni's own site:

"Thanks and welcome to ZeniMax Online. As everyone knows by now, we are working on Elder Scrolls Online, the Elder Scrolls MMO. We are tremendously excited about this project and its potential, especially after the huge success of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

I have been in the multiplayer game development business for a long time – my first multiplayer game project was in 1988 and I went on to be the producer of Dark Age of Camelot when I was at Mythic Entertainment.

I've been given this tremendous opportunity by ZeniMax Media to start ZeniMax Online and to build a team to make The Elder Scrolls Online. We're part of the ZMI team, which includes Bethesda Softworks (our publishing partner), Bethesda Games Studios (where console/single player Elder Scrolls and Fallout titles are developed), id, Arkane Studios, and others."

This is the first elderscrolls game zenimax has been a part of.

Not acting high and mighty at all. Acting rationally and reasonably by looking at the whole situation. And not really. If I had the same issue I would go play one of my other games I haven't finished. Or maybe go watch a movie or show that i have on my DVR I haven't watched yet. Point is, I'd be understanding, patient, and occupy my time.

Thats understandable, but come on now haha. I've been beta testing it for 6 months and have been really excited to play it. It just sucks not being able to play a character that ive already put 20+ hrs into

Eh. 20 hours is nothing really. I remember my first game breaking save file corrupting bug in Skyrim. 230+ hours on that character all gone. But doesn't mean I enjoyed it any less putting that time back in with one character alone reaching over 1300 hours. And that was in a game without millions of other people and having to rely on servers in one of the largest undertakings in one of my favorite series ever. lol
  • Demonic_Wrath
20+ hours the opening day? If i didn't have this issue it would be 40+...all im saying is that being passed on by different representatives sucks....especially when the outcome is having to wait 16+ hours.

Anyway I don't need to debate with you about the feeling's of this situation. Everyone's going to have different views. Sorry I'm not you bro haha
