Sometimes it looks like it's re-downloading everything when it's actually just verifying existing files. That said, wait until the fix rolls out before you start repairing again.

Fix is out and I still keep getting the re-download everything bug. If it is actually just verifying existing files do I leave it going?

Mines been doing that for an hour since the fix still at 0% is this what you are getting?

Like 5%, not been going for as long as an hour either, more than enough to do a repair if it was on non-PTS launcher though, I'm just gonna leave my running, I guess you could try another relaunch and repair? Worse thing that could happen is you're back where you are now.

I went from the Play button (and crashing) to repair and downloading 59GB remaining. So, 400GB+ down, another 60GB to go, why not. The definition of insanity....
EDIT 2: After clicking repair, the game fully downloaded and the client loads (though it's saying unauthorized computer, enter code...and nothing has been emailed yet), so at least I can say that the fix they implemented works.

EDIT: In case you think that 400GB is hyperbole, here's my data usage for 2018

Guess what one thing I did differently for April was...

I had a midnight work shift on Monday, so I started the patcher at 7pm, so I could play the game the next day for the start of my weekend. It was downloading somewhere between 800KBps and 1.4MBps instead of the usual 20MBps, but I didn't care because I wouldn't be playing until my post-midshift nap at 10am. So, I let it do its thing, went to work, came home, and woke back up at 10am. 15 hours later....

How was I to know the bandwidth bottleneck would clear itself up, and the patcher would see how many times it can download a 60GB pack again and again in one night? Most programs stop until theres some sort of user intervention.

This is actually really slow for me.....maybe upgrade your ISP and CPU, RAM, etc.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but for those of you having issues, try:

- Uninstalling the old files before attempting the new download (click the little gear and hit uninstall).
- Closing the launcher and re-opening it, in case the launcher itself needs to update.

I managed to DL the PTS now, and was also able to log in and create a character.

After this frustration I will just stop obviously Zenimax has no interest in it's patrons or maybe it's just the few of us whos problems never get addressd. Again I'm looking at you ZOS_GinaBruno I'm still needing assistance. You got my money and my email lets see if any help comes my way.

Brilliant! I can confirm, the update fixed my Content Write Error that I've had over the last 2 days. The last 4 zip files (around 4.5GB of data) downloaded successfully, and the patches were applied successfully. Game client also launched after install!

Now the Beta test can begin

My launcher downloaded the remaining files, and I got into the client. However, I got an instant fatal error (12). Running a repair now to see if that fixes it.

I left mine to download overnight on the release date, it was 15% done before I went to bed and when I woke up it was 11%.

It was about a 59 GB download total. I tried again and left it downloading while I was at work. Came back and it was at 11%, with 18 GB remaining (which seemed weird to me)'

It was like it kept restarting or something but each time it restarted it took up drive space. I paused the download when I got home so I didn't interfere with my roommate streaming (and I wanted to do my daily writs on the main server)

Before I went to bed I restarted the download but got the Content Write Error so I gave up and deleted the PTS folder and I'm back to having the drive space before I started the download.

Just gonna wait until the issue is fixed and most likely next week after the event is over.

8 MB/s sounds about right for typical low-cost internet. That works out to 60-70 megabits/second. I have 120 megabits/second, so my downloads are between 10 and 15 MB/s.

860 megabits is really good, but that 156.79 MB/s suggests your internet is even better than that. That works out to over 1 gigabit/second, which Google Fiber boasts I think.

Update:

So! I got things I needed to sort out sorted in less time than expected. While out I had a little think about what I could do 'my end' to try and negate issues here. I managed to catch a shop just as it was about to close and bought a brand spanking new Cat5E patch cable.

This is what I did;

Stop DL
Switch off PC, wait a few minutes, switch back on
Uninstall network drivers and Killernetwork software
off and back on
Reinstall network driver
off and back on
Fit new Cat5E cable
Start ESO launcher
Launcher varifies files*
In the time it took to write this, DL has got to 8%**

* Had previously uninstalled PTS via launcher.
** It appears DL is going well.

I'm perfectly happy to accept that the download time may have been affect by equipment on my end - I renewed Cat5E cable and network driver. However, I'm cautious in this regard. Launcher now at 12% and appers to have slowed right down at 47xxxMB remaining. Time will tell!

Ok, so I had success.

I didn't uninstall or delete the old files, just relaunched the launcher and let it do its thing. It verified all the old files, downloaded the last few gigs, installed, downloaded another 8 gigs, installed and now its done.

Though, now I'm not much in the mood to PTS, after the motif-pages-in-crates thing.

Just ran the downloader. Worked perfectly this time. 50-135 MB/s download speed too. In the game now and everything is working.

Been trying to download and get into PTS servers for the last 2 days.

First I've got the infamous "Content Write Failed" error around at %32. I repaired and PTS client downloaded %100 without issues but upon launching it, the game crashed and gave me "Fatal Error 12". Tried to repair again, launcher started to download the client from scratch but when it reached %94 percent, it gave the "Content Write Failed" error once again. I've uninstalled the PTS and now that is posted that they've released a fix, I'm trying again. Currently, it is at %16 and I'm crossing my fingers.

UPDATE: I got in and streamed The Queen's Decree to a small number of people. Excellent so far! I only found 2 bugs and they weren't game-breaking! Well done! I LOVE the expansion! I will probably end up getting it! A discount for us Beta Testers would have been nice though... hint hint!

Someone pointed this out earlier in the thread as a workaround to get the PTS to finish.

1. When you start getting the Write Error instead of attempting to repair via the launcher (this does NOT work) click Pause followed by Resume.

l

2. When you keep doing this you will see the data size increase slightly each time, when this finally stops increasing it will properly start the download again.

l

3. Let the launcher finish said download from this point. After it is done from download and patching the PTS should be playable now.

OK,
So where is the fix for those of us that already downloaded the full 70GB of data but cannot get the PTS to launch? I have run REPAIR and it just kicks the launcher back to download the 69GB again. I cannot imagine that I should have to re-download the PTS a second time. What is the fix for this issue?
I have my second computer downloading the "REPAIR" version of the 69GB now, but I do not want to do the same 2 different computers. Been working on this for 2 days now because my internet is not the fastest. Please help with the specifics of how to fix this without re-downloading the entire PTS.

Don't be a jerk. I truly hope it doesn't end up working for you. We don't need your attitude and your over-inflated sense of self-importance in this game.

Now, on to the real reason I came here to post. I'm having similar issues. "Content write failed". "HTTP" something or other at times.

Gigabit Google fiber. Plenty of space on the hard drive. Left on overnight, it kept re-downloading. Thankfully, I'm not capped. Will update if it ends up working out.
