Would you pay $25 a month for ESO if ALL micro-transactions were removed?

The problem with games when they become MTs is the devs start to focus to much on making trinkets to sell and less time working the actual content. The more they pump out in vanity items, the more they make. Meanwhile the game suffers because the primary focus is making more trinkets to sell and less on the actual game.

I prefer games with a required sub. Everyone pays one price a month, everything is included. no sales gimmicks. They use to include vanity items in the games for free like special event and stuff or for completing certain things. But they figured out people will pay more a month for virtual mounts and pets than they will for transportation to get to work. So now every game just sells everything and turns every game into a fashion show.

For a $25 sub i would have to get stuff like : unlimited storage space, mounted speed buff, no cost teleports to wayshrines, 100 slots per guild trader, 15 character slots, the ability to completely switch specs without spending a bunch of gold and time faffing around to swap, and customer support that has guaranteed less than 12 hour turn around day or night, weekends and holidays.

    Heck no, no way!
Now why would I pay a more expensive monthly fee for less content? And all accumulated crowns would be rendered obsolete.

WAIT... Didn't they find out that pay-to-play didn't work well when expanded ESO to console plebes? Plus, it was only $15 then....

No cause then you would be paying 25 USD for achievement locked cosmetics anyway.

Don't like raiding? Now pay more and you STILL don't have access! PROGRESS!

Don´t like the idea of a monthly fee. Preffer to pay a starting flat fee and be done with it, and if there is something I want, buy it directly (from the crowns store, where there is nothing good to be bought, so...no extra chatge for me right now).

You do know that both WoW and FFXIV have micro-transaction shops, even tho both are fully subscription based. Right?

Most of the cosmetic stuff in WoW comes from doing ingame activies; and by most I mean over 95 %.

    In ESO it's the opposite.

So a game having a subscription requirement definately reduces the agressive monetization - I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise.

What is happening in ESO is just the causality of the game going away from the subscription requirement three years ago - I knew this was going to happen so I am not surprised or even upset.

I can't help but to wonder whether the game companies are to blame for this development or all the people who insist on playing MMORPGs without subscriptions under the illusion that monetization will be just as good as if the game had a required subscription - after all game companies just deliver products based on the market demands. But that is a discussion for another time and we already know where Zenimax planted the flag with ESO.

Nah, I'll keep my £10 a month and let all the people who want to buy £30 mounts, keep ZOS in the money.

I would only do it if there is $10 more worth of content.

I am not paying $10 a month more just to remove the options of buying things. I don't have an issue with the Crown Store, I have an issue with ZOS marketing using every sleazy marketing tactic available to make more money.

If you make enough gold in WoW you can play as though it were B2p

Do you even understand what Buy2Play is?? If you have to BUY it TO PLAY it, it's B2P... BUY it.... WITH MONEY... It has nothing to do with in-game gold....

not voted , can afford the costs but the game would become a niche , just think of the poorer players and even worse the ps4/xbox , dont think this will ever happen , eso would loose to much revenue .

I live on goverment funds due to my health. I have very little money to use. I can't give away even 25$ a month everymonth. Instead what I do is I put money aside when I have some extra, so when a dlc comes out or something, I can get it. And I do support ESO when I can, because I love the game. So no, I am glad the game is as it is. I can't get ESO plus and get the craftbag. But otherwise it's fine for me. And I make it work :)

20 for just crowncrate and chapter removal. One is scummy unbalanced gambling and the other is just rude to the player base that believed ZOS when they claimed eso plus would make all dlc content playable. Yes you are calling it a chapter and not dlc but that is just a phrasing loophole and taking advantage of that shows you no longer respect your playerbase

I am a free to play member and ESO plus is nice but its not worth at the end cause I can buy dlc when I want and when I don't want it case and point summer set came before dragon borne cause cause I am more in to quests and overland then dungeons. Cause dungeon after you done that one the 10 time you got the things you need. Or case of dungeon you hate and refuse to go back turtle form runes

Irrelevant - just asking a question....

It's not irrelevant. This thread was obviously made because someone thinks the crown shop is the problem, when in reality, removing all small transactions would only solve a portion of the troubles this game has.

Removing the crown store and forcing people to spend $25 a month will run off most people. Removing the crown store and offering an optional $25 monthly sub is a guarantee that many people will stop subbing, and probably stop playing as much.

The fact that two games with mandatory subscriptions and a cosmetic shop are doing so well means it's probably not just the cash shop ruining this game. My mind springs to lag and balance first off.

No, because the crown store doesn't bother me, nor do crown crates. I rarely buy anything from the former, and never from the latter. However, others do and that's fine by me as it all helps fund the game. People may claim that all the development resources go into the crown store but that isn't borne out by the pace and quality of the quarterly updates. The present business model is fine.

but this wow mainly have for char name change, race etc in cash shop and its really poor with comsetics in compare to ESO because 90% if not more cosmetic items we are albe to get through gameplay like just mount skins and many other thing

and the thread no....this will be as supscription to just play like in wow but ith to expensive lol...ESO even on start when was b2p like wow wasnt that espensive like you insane offer, I dont know what a casual tryhards would pay that much per month to play in single game and ofc then ZOS wouldn care that much about crown storoe because with your thinking then it wopuldn exist and at all items which are in crown store wouldn ever be created because ZOS wont need to do this as it would be free
