[BUG & Possible Exploit] Prevent Attacking Innocents Broken

Apparently, if you steal from an NPC and they become hostile, it is possible for you to kill them even with the option turned on. While you cannot directly target the hostile NPCs, you can still accidentally kill them with ground-based AoEs, Ritual of Retribution, even the CP-based effects like Riposte will cause them to die eventually (which, by the way is being applied and returning damage with EVERY hit even while NOT blocking). Where do I file this bug in the client?

In short:

Riposte is proccing on all hits, even while not blocking, with apparently with no CD.
Prevent attacking innocents is broken and people will accidentally rack up large bounties because innocents can still be harmed with AoE skills.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

Technically, the AoE skills are not accidental. You have to activate them. I used to use Puncturing Sweep from the Templar to finish off hostile npcs when this happened back over a year ago. Now I just avoid aggro.

Also, have you tested the ground based AoEs on non-hostile npcs? Do they take hits from them.

It doesn't sound like it is broken so much as you triggered them to switch to hostile which then opens them up to attack to defend yourself.
Although, this could be why sorcerer pets sometimes go aggro without the owner's consent when a nearby other player aggros a npc.

FYI, standard bug report works in game. Type /bug into chat and hit Enter then select the option for "impairs functionality" and whatever other drop down options are closest to correct such as "ability, combat and monsters".

Hmm maybe it was just coincidental. I can't seem to find a way to trigger riposte bug reliably, it seems to be something that happens randomly. But I will see if I can do it more reliably and then put the official bug report. I wanted to see if anyone else had noticed that behavior with riposte.

The 'prevent attacking innocents' option has worked like this on live for quite a long time on live. It's possible to cause justice NPCs to become hostile (by witnessing a crime) and then kill them with AoE abilities even without targetting them directly.

Another interesting way this works is that you can start a channel which doesn't require a target to begin (like a heavy attack) and then aim at the hostile justice NPC after the channel starts to hit them directly.

This is probably by design so you aren't stuck infinitely in combat and have the option to fight back against a hostile NPC even if it results in a bounty.

Thankfully, I have never seen that with heavy attacks, but then I have only really used staves and mostly restoration and lightning. Maybe melee weapons are different.
