• NA megaservers for patch maintenance – February 8, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 10:00AM EST (15:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for patch maintenance – February 8, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 15:00 UTC (10:00AM EST)

Login Error - Connection to Steam

I am a returning player and I cannot login to my old account, I get the following error message when I launch the game: Login Error - Unable to initialize connection to Steam. Please ensure the game was launched through Steam or try again later.

I have not purchased the game through Steam and I am able to login at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com to see my account details.

Any idea what might be wrong?
