They are really good at exploiting the consumer.

    . . .

I see someone didn't read the first fifteen words in the OP. Over reactive people are so exhausting.

No I did, my comment is in line with the theme of this thread. Stuff ZoS are good at :)

Hmm. At this point, 4 years later...

    * Music
    * Dynamic combat
    * Guild trader system (or at least they started...)
    * Zone and dungeon design and art
    * Dialog and voice acting
    * Stories and quests

    The combat system.

Putting balance aside, it's engaging and active making to do more than just root in place and run a 20 skill rotation constantly.

The requirements to block attacks (manticora), place yourself in specific locations (zaan) etc. really keeps you alert and engaged more than some MMO games.

remember when enemies had certain resistances (ie fire creatures resistant to fire attacks, etc.), and you had to select what kind of attack would actually be effective versus just running an autonomous rotation? Did I dream that this game had that?

I'm really enjoying the quests. I've been a TES player for some time, and it feels as though they took our criticisms of Skyrim into consideration and made a real effort to flesh out the quests.

Good music, too. (Editing to add: Well, not uniformly good, maybe. Some regions were better than others, and occasionally the region soundtrack didn't fit too well. I wish we could customise the music.) Lovely to hear previous TES music incorporated into ESO's music. It makes me really happy to hear themes from Morrowind and Oblivion.

Horse-riding feels really smooth, a huge improvement from Skyrim.

There's a lot of what I consider to be very reasoned criticism in the forums, as well as heaps of not wholly deserved negativity. I took an extended break from ESO recently to play some other games. Having come back with a fresh perspective, I now realize how good the game is. I thought it'd be nice to start a fun thread where everyone talks about something in the game they really like.

Here's mine: matchmaking with friends in this game is dead simple. I was playing a lot of Monster Hunter: World recently, and it struck me how unnecessarily convoluted the matchmaking in that game is. You can easily group up and travel to a player's instance in this game, which is something I really appreciate. Thank you, ZOS, for making the experience stress-free.

I actually really enjoy the crafting system. I do wish everything was boe but being able to max out essentially everything and transmute things makes the game accessible to people like me that work 50-60 hours per week.

Using psychology of "Limited Time Only" / "Limited Availability" in order to encourage you to buy stuff.

I think the events have been quite successful as an example of "Limited time Only". Traditionally ESO has avoided Pay-to-win.

Volume of content: It can take years to get through everything there is to do in the game.

    I enjoyed the story line.

In some ways it is hard to say as this is the only MMO I have played so I don't have a point of reference of it's relative strengths against rival MMO's. I can only comment on it's perceived merits in its own right.

I think one of the best features of the game is also its most underappreciated, in that it allows access to pretty much everyone.

    Gud? Bad? Both are welcome.

The game has multiple opportunities for pretty much every player, and doesn't hinder against those who wish to run around and just take in the scenery to those who strive to be the best they can be.

The design has allowed many players to form new online friendships, and in some cases enemies, and this diversity helps make it a better game for everyone.

Too many times I've read "ZoS doesn't care about its players". Nonsense. From the game's initial release to where it is now, I'd say they did more than listened. They've improved.

It's not a perfect game (no game is, including Skyrim), but it constantly works to get better. Some changes are good. Some aren't (looking at you, HA auto-release), but overall, the changes have definitely been good.

I've walked away from this game twice in the last 3 years, the longest span lasting 9 months.

Rest assured, this game has gotten better, and with number of new players growing, that's a great accomplishment, which I feel doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Now that I'm back, it'll be interesting to see where the game goes from here. I mean, it can only continue to get better.

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.
