There's a lot of what I consider to be very reasoned criticism in the forums, as well as heaps of not wholly deserved negativity. I took an extended break from ESO recently to play some other games. Having come back with a fresh perspective, I now realize how good the game is. I thought it'd be nice to start a fun thread where everyone talks about something in the game they really like.

Here's mine: matchmaking with friends in this game is dead simple. I was playing a lot of Monster Hunter: World recently, and it struck me how unnecessarily convoluted the matchmaking in that game is. You can easily group up and travel to a player's instance in this game, which is something I really appreciate. Thank you, ZOS, for making the experience stress-free.

    The combat system.

Putting balance aside, it's engaging and active making to do more than just root in place and run a 20 skill rotation constantly.

The requirements to block attacks (manticora), place yourself in specific locations (zaan) etc. really keeps you alert and engaged more than some MMO games.

Crafting in this game is actually useful and worth putting effort in. I cannot actually think of any game, offhand, in which i felt like that was the case. A bonus thing ESO done right: Players get their own loot from kills instead of it being shared with group.

They do a lot of things right, otherwise i wouldnt be around anymore. Never played any game in my life for as long as i have played eso. I cant really point out why i am still playing other than that i have lots of fun with the game. Its probably the diversity the game offers. Want to fight others, join a pvp campaign, want to take it easy, go fishing or farming, want more action, do a trial....

Group Dungeons with solid stories, fun mechanics, the ability to run them at different levels of ability, and rewarding team cooperation and individual skill.

Crypt of Hearts is my favorite dungeon for its story, Vaults of Madness is my favorite dungeon for the sheer number of times I've run it wth friends for gear.

The outfit system, this is even better than the best thing since sliced bread.

The combat. I came from a brief stint in ff14. The combat of eso was such a delightful breath of fresh air.

The zones. So many places to see! So many things to do.

The pvp. For me, there is nothing more satisfying than a good skirmish between two groups of people. I can only imagine how fun it must be when grouped with guildies and you are all communicating over chat with each other.

The music. I crie evrytim. Excellent, beautiful.

The house decorating. I have a dwemer themed garage where i store my dwemer spider mount. Checkmate, skyrim.

The lore!! I could go on for pages, so I shall simply say that ESO has covered so many things that the main games have (so far) sort of neglected.

The full voice acting, also the quality of voice acting. High King Emeric is amazingly voiced, as is expected. Also, the tour guide Bosmer in Grahtwood is amazing and anyone who says otherwise is WRONG. Also, Rakkaht (sp?) In MoL sounds sinister and cool as heck.

Stamina Sorcerers (and other stam classes). I can knifey knife everything without being forced into being a sneaky rogue, like in every other MMO ever.

Struggling to find a new class to call home. Please send help.

It is very alt friendly compared with other mmos while maintaining the rpg point of difference:I feel I am playing several characters not just running toons through the same linear content.

They are really good at exploiting the consumer.

The crown crates have been instrumental in exploiting the 1% 'whales' who are quite happy to pour hundreds of pounds/dollars/euros, into ruining the game for the rest of us as ZoS think its a viable strategy that engages the players.

ZoS are not children OP. 2 stars and a wish doesn't cut it. They are dropping the ball big time on the Crown store and should be made aware of it in the strongest possible terms.

The game does appear to cater for a wide variety of play styles and expectations. It has something for the solo player, and something for the mindless zerg, and something for the normal folks in between.

There's enough humour in the dialog and quests, even if it does get repeated a bit too often, because you've stayed in one place too long. I also like the fact that the player's choices aren't black and white, or lead to dead ends. Plenty of grey, and opportunities to redeem.

I'm just giving you hell. lol

This really is the game I love to hate and the game I hate to love.
I wish so many things about it were different...preferably more like older MMO's because those were the golden era days, but the market has shifted in such a dramatic way that I can not ever expect to see that again unfortunately. I really do think this is the best "newer" MMO out there. I say newer because I still prefer so much about the older MMO's, but this one deserves it's credit too.

One of the things I think this game does best is the sheer amount of content. This game is HUGE. From the story lines to the several PVP types, to the world bosses, the DLC, the size of the map, the delves and dungeons, the amount of things to do. The amount of content is impressive. Especially knowing what it takes to develop even something basic like a single player experience...it is even more impressive when you understand how intensely overwhelming it would be to develop an experience like this. So I give massive props to the team who build it all.

All BS aside, congrats and amazing job.

    ...very alt friendly...

My thoughts exactly. With account-wide CP and account-wide bound gear, the concept of a main and alts doesn't have to exist in ESO. I really like that my newer toons can catch up to my first character. ZOS please keep fueling my altoholism.

The game is beautiful. You can quest and quest and play solo through the game and it’s like the next Skyrim. The different zones and stories of each faction are top notch. The DLC are good stories throughout. Gold Coast, Hews Bane, Orsinium, Clockwork, they’re all really cool.

Group dungeons and trials are great on normal except DLC stuff.

The normal game is what drew me in.

off the top of my head:

the combat system in general, is very engaging

the writing, stories and lore. (I don't know how to get into it without writing an essay)

graphically the game can be beautiful especially in the newer zones

the devs seem to genuinely care about the game itself, even if I don't agree with some of the decisions.

the sheer variety of things to do in game,

for all that I complain about this game, and I do, I still think it's orders of magnitude better than any of the other MMOs out there.

It's pretty. You can park a toon down somewhere and just watch the world go by (somewhere isolated mind you, too many people and it can get annoying). Also did you guys know that the clouds actually move in-game?

The trade system is the best I've ever seen in a game. Easy to get involved, very difficult for anyone to corner a market, and even basic materials have a decent value to them. Plus prices have been holding so steady for years it shows a real strength of the system.

The new Outfit system, essentially account wide motifs for most players, and it actually does provide so many customization options now that we don't have to display our godawful monster helms and shoulders. The shoulder and belt pieces still need tweeks though, because the floating of 9/10 of the arm cops is starting to bug me.
