It's amazing that the most common weapon in history (pre-modern times) is not used at all in Tamriel. Everybody is rich to have sword.
Aldmeri Dominion (PC EU via Steam)

The cowardly Wood Elves are best noted for their unwillingness to engage in a face-to-face attack; a Bosmer will strike at you from every side except the front. You won't cross swords with a Bosmer, but you might catch an arrow in the throat. Be wary in forests and jungles, and watch your back.

To be entirely fair, even mudcrabs have swords and armor laying around somewhere.

Only one MMORPG has done spears and javelins right and that was the Tolkien-themed game <wink wink> with their Warden.

I'd love to see spears added as a one-hander with shield or a two-hander primarily used for thrusting, reserving slashing animations for AoE.

I miss the Warden class in LOTRO. That was my main. I hit cap at 65, a few years ago and stopped playing. Now he's probably nothing lmao
Yes, I do heartily repent. I repent I had not done more mischief; and that we did not cut the throats of them that took us, and I am extremely sorry that you aren't hanged as well as we.

I would be fine with them being added to existing skill lines as new weapon types, but they should definitely have unique animations compared to the current weapons (Side note: All weapon types should have unique animations. It's absolutely *** poor lazy design that swords, axes, and maces are all used in exactly the same way here).

Spears: 1 handed, can be used with dual wield or 1h/shield skill lines. When used with dual wield, the twin blade and blunt passive gives you 5% more critical damage dealt per spear equipped.

Polearms: 2 handed, can be used with the two handed skill line. The heavy weapons passive gives you 10% more critical damage when a polearm is equipped.

Crossbows: 2 handed, can be used with the bows skill line. The Accuracy passive now increases critical chance by 10% with a bow equipped, and critical damage by 10% with a crossbow equipped.

These weapons would be preferrable over daggers for dual wield or bows for any character that already has high critical chance.

Eso could easily add wpn lines and not for cosmetic purposes. Instead, add items that fullfill gaps in player mechanics or hybrids

For example, why try to make 2h better for trash fights or aoe? Its fine to have a weapon sets that are set up for point target and burst. Yet leaving aoe to two weapons is limiting in design.

Polearms could be a hybrid of aoe and defensive abilities while dual wield is a hybrid of aoe and point target. It could have
    a strong forward hitting aoe,
an aoe splash gap closer with small aoe cone in front,
a spamable that has some range to it, a defensive stance reflecting a percentage of dmg from any gap closers back at the enemy.
An ability that boosts dmg of next attack against a blocking target

I just found this, similar enough!!! Good to know im reinventing the wheel.

And wisps have full staves on them. Impressive, really.

They were totally a part of Morrowind. And Argonians had bonuses to using them!

I believe in Vivec there was a daedric shrine with a spear as the quest reward.

Oh how I miss killing the netch with Sheo's fork.
